This practice stinks. I have been trying to get a therapist with them for months. Issues that have…read morearised Everytime you call to schedule they don't schedule, they have to call you back to schedule. Annoying. I was connected with a therapist that I saw for 1 month. This therapist recommended a book that she didn't even read herself and she admitted it when I confronted her. How does someone recommended something they haven't read as a treatment for someone else. Waste of time. I called the receptionist and asked for a new therapist and said my reasons why and was told they will call back to schedule. Did not hear from them for a month until I called them back. I then went thru the process again, someone will call you back to schedule. Bear in mind I gave very accessible availability. Didn't hear back and called again. I then talked to a receptionist who wanted to go over my information. She then said "you are looking for treatment for a trauma diagnosis". I asked if that was stated on my file because I have never been to a doctor who diagnosed me with a condition. She then started to panic and said she misspoke and nothing is listed on my file. I then asked if she diagnosed me off the top of her head and she said she was thinking of someone else. I then asked for a manager. I have been speaking with the manager Tanya for the past week trying to schedule. She cannot find any availability and sent me outside of the practice which is booked as well. She then found me a therapist and I was relieved. Then the next day she called me and said I can't see her because my nephew is seeing this therapist. I asked for my nephews name and stated our last name is a common one. She said she can't disclose his name. I then asked well how do you know it's the same family. They said the therapist said so. How is that verification if there is no name. I said that is not acceptable and was told to find a new practice. They are the worst and the receptionist are clueless. Waste of time, money and resources. Go somewhere else if they have availability.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Bill. He is kind, empathetic, and just a wonderful human being all around. He helps me put things into perspective when things can seem hopeless. Miss Blaire has been seeing my son for over a year and he really likes her. She is patient with him, has taught him coping skills and I trust her. However, there was one therapist who left the practice after 1-2 sessions with my son. That was a complete waste of time and we had to start all over again with a new therapist. I met with a therapist (prior to working with Dr. Bill) who was HORRIBLE. I believe that she was in training and should not have been paired with me since she did more damage than help me. After one session I refused to see her again. Smart Love as a whole depends on the individual therapist. Do your homework in advance and thoroughly vet the therapist. You cannot go wrong with Dr. Bill since he is my absolute favorite.

She appeared unprepared and unqualified, provided no constructive input, and offered no guidance when I asked for help with motivation--she literally said, "I don't know." Very awkward, and I did not know what to say, and we stood in a whole 2 minutes of silence! The session lacked any meaningful therapeutic conversation. Most of the questions she asked were irrelevant to my concerns (including whether my roommate had a girlfriend), and she offered no strategies, feedback, or support. Her nonverbal behavior also felt awkward and at times condescending. I would not recommend seeing this therapist, as the session felt unproductive and a waste of time.

I was very appalled by her behavior and attitude during our one "session". Be very leery about deciding to work with person like this, especially if you're not in the best space mentally/emotionally. 0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

As a man, I found it really difficult to seek help with the relationships in my life. I'm busy and…read morethe last thing I wanted to do was take time out my busy schedule for this. That was how my old self thought. In the process of developing success in my business life, I left a trail of destruction in my romantic and personal life. I came to realize that us super achieving men are usually the ones who need help the most. And the least likely to admit we need help and seek it out. I tried therapy before and found it futile. Most therapists will tell you about all of the credentials they have and I still have no idea what most of it means. The result is I wasted a lot of time with therapists who used the same cookie cutter text book approach without any human element. In some cases, I felt like I had more life experience than the therapist did. It didn't help me and even worse, left me with a sour taste in my mouth about the entire process. It seemed like a lost cause to me. Lesson learned: a bunch of plaques on the wall have nothing to do with how effective a therapist is. At rock bottom, I decided to try Dr. Epstein. It was the genesis of a life changing relationship. I immediately felt unguarded around her. She also asked much different questions and would quickly know where to start digging into my life. In hindsight, that was key in helping me move forward quickly. Her vast life experience is amazing. She is like the Wikipedia of life. I was kind of blown away by how different of an experience working with her is. She is compassionate, deeply insightful and non-judgemental. I don't think she has ever used an acronym. I feel completely comfortable talking with her about anything. At times, I felt like she had a crystal ball into my life because she can quickly tell me what's going on with me and the people close to me. More importantly, she's compassionate at giving me tough love and helping me address the behaviors that hold me back. And bringing awareness to things that I don't see in my own life. I've had a long relationship with Dr. Epstein. In the beginning, we spent a lot of time working on the core things that held me back, which is pretty much so the adult child of an alcoholic laundry list. I was an uptight mess. She gently convinced me to try things that I never thought possible. Because of it, my personal life and business life fulfillment is exponentially higher. She helped me cultivate the positive behaviors in my life while letting go of the self limiting paradigms and behaviors. I didn't realize how profoundly the self-defeating behaviors that affected my personal life also affected my business life. Addressing these behaviors helped me move my business life forward by exponential levels. I went from working 70 hours a week when I met her to working 30-35 hours a week now with a team of great employees. My income has also increased by multiples. Getting off the work treadmill has allowed me to pursue some other muse business opportunities and passions that are on my bucket list. Over the years, I've dropped in to see her when I've hit rough patches in relationships. She never fails to amaze me. She is without question the best Oak Park therapist and likely the best Chicago therapist. Possibly the best therapist bar none. Most importantly, no other human being has had such a positive impact on my adult life as she has. I am forever grateful.
