Dr. Kostina was wonderful. She listens and was very intuitive about my needs. I would see her again.

An update: mom spent 15 days here. We pursued a room change but she ended up liking her roommate so stayed put. 1. Staff: Obviously there are not enough of them. I got attention when requested. Some people that work there genuinely care for the patients and they were a bright spot in these folks days. Others come to work to just do their job and that's fine as well. No one was awful or mean and for that we are grateful! It's an incredibly hard job and shout out to Nursing Home employees for being so dedicated! The Administrator: chatted with me to find areas for improvement The Case Manager/Social Worker: the best! Overworked, does his job, concerned, helpful. Checking in regularly and setting up her therapies for discharge. Called me for a group meeting one afternoon with all therapists and my mom on a conference call. 2. Never did get a schedule for PT/OT. I think there are corners being cut to maximize profits here. Absolutely should have more OT/PT for people to feel human. Quicker progress would be noticed if OT/PT were consistent 5-10 times a week. The random therapy sessions would catch my mom off guard every single time and took place around 7pm. Besides, everyone benefits from a schedule! 3. Meals were as expected. Everything is beige and so much gravy. Maybe this is another area where quality is traded for profit because I didn't see one single fresh item in 2 weeks. I brought fruits, and salad to aim for some nutritional balance (fiber? vitamins? anyone??). My mom sent most of the food back and thought of it as another reason to get better and go home. 4. Shower days - skipped over if the RNs were too busy, so patients can go a week without a shower and that is not right. 5. It's a huge bummer on your senses. Visually: it's devoid of color and could use a good wash (too many skipped shower days!). The Air: so unpleasant. Please consider a purifier and a working AC unit for the hallway (the employees were literally dripping sweat one warm day and that is no way to treat employees). My mom's takeaway: there is nothing uplifting and quality of life is non-existent in this nursing home. Overall she was motivated to go home. I don't think she's recovered necessarily, but she will have to do the hard work of getting better in the comfort of her own space because what is the point of laying around there when she can do the same at home?

The facility itself is poorly maintained with very small rooms. My entire stay of 5 days I was confined to my bed because no one could help me to a wheelchair or to the toilet. I weigh 150 pounds! I have a gluten allergy and pointed that out when I arrived. My first meal arrived and I asked if it was gluten free. They said yes It wasn't. The consequences of me eating gluten is repeated, uncontrolabe diarrhea. As I was laying in my own filth and worker told me if I didn't eat so much I wouldn't mess as much. Speaking of eating, my Sunday dinner consisted of 3 slices of room temperature bologna, 3 pieces of Kraft singles, Jell-O and a carton of milk. Don't put anyone you care about in this place.

I suffer from back pain and at the recommendation of my primary doctor, started going to Rush PT…read more I assumed that they were part of the Rush hospital system. But after reviewing the Yelp, i now realize it is actually some company called "Novacare". For the last 2 months, I have been going here once a week. The facility is very small and cramped, the equipment is a bit bare. But the main problem is that there is only 1 or 2 actual Physical Therapists in the office at a time, while there are 3-5 patients scheduled for the same time. Each session is about 50-60 minutes long. But the actual time with the PT is really about 15 minutes (as Gina F mentioned in her review). The PT shows you the exercise movements about 2-3 times, then has you do 2-3 reps, makes some corrections, tells you to do 2-3 more sets by yourself, and then wanders off to work with another patient or to type something in the computer without really paying any attention to you. If the PT had already shown you an exercise before, she may just hand you off to a Student/Intern and have them run through the exercise with you. But again, the student also is not paying any attention to you while doing the exercise and is instead busy chatting with each other. Ultimately, my time ended when the PT said, she didn't think PT was working for me. Sometimes, I would realize later that I was doing the exercise wrong a few sessions later, when the actual PT showed it to me again. But I do admit, I didn't do my home exercises everyday, but only 3-4 days a week at home. Conclusion, - I would recommend you look for a better office that has more space so patients don't bump into each other. I would also recommend a PT office that offers One on One PT to patient services instead. I will be trying a different PT office and see if that is more helpful.
