I suffer from back pain and at the recommendation of my primary doctor, started going to Rush PT. I assumed that they were part of the Rush hospital system. But after reviewing the Yelp, i now realize it is actually some company called "Novacare". For the last 2 months, I have been going here once a week. The facility is very small and cramped, the equipment is a bit bare. But the main problem is that there is only 1 or 2 actual Physical Therapists in the office at a time, while there are 3-5 patients scheduled for the same time. Each session is about 50-60 minutes long. But the actual time with the PT is really about 15 minutes (as Gina F mentioned in her review). The PT shows you the exercise movements about 2-3 times, then has you do 2-3 reps, makes some corrections, tells you to do 2-3 more sets by yourself, and then wanders off to work with another patient or to type something in the computer without really paying any attention to you. If the PT had already shown you an exercise before, she may just hand you off to a Student/Intern and have them run through the exercise with you. But again, the student also is not paying any attention to you while doing the exercise and is instead busy chatting with each other. Ultimately, my time ended when the PT said, she didn't think PT was working for me. Sometimes, I would realize later that I was doing the exercise wrong a few sessions later, when the actual PT showed it to me again. But I do admit, I didn't do my home exercises everyday, but only 3-4 days a week at home. Conclusion, - I would recommend you look for a better office that has more space so patients don't bump into each other. I would also recommend a PT office that offers One on One PT to patient services instead. I will be trying a different PT office and see if that is more helpful. read more

This is place a factory, with several patients going at once in the small space. I suspect the output of the factory is invoices, not care. The conditions I sought care for were unresolved, and I ended up with a massive bill for working 10-15 minutes with a PT and 45 minutes with a student. Fun fact: I'd been going for weeks before they realized my "plan" wasn't even in the computer. Then how were you reviewing and adjusting? My symptoms did not improve, but worsened, and after 12 visits I stopped going and doing the "exercises". It took about 2 months, but eventually the pains caused by following their care went away for the most part (resurfaces on the treadmill but at least it's no longer daily), as did one of the 2 concerns I came in for (lower back better, but tip of tailbone will probably take a while) . Over Thanksgiving I was visiting family out of state and my brother, a brilliant physical therapist, asked how my PT was going. He was surprised when I told him about the assigned exercises, which he didn't think were addressing the issue, and stunned to learn that after their care caused pain in my hips, they kept having me do exercises that exacerbated that pain and performed no adjustments. This isn't Rush caliber care. Perhaps they lack adequate experience, but I'm not prepared to pay for the learning curve. I went back to the gym and definitely avoiding this place. Just got my bill (last visit in November) and the charges are outrageous. $330-400 per visit to mostly do ineffective exercises with a student. I tried to call the billing dept and negotiate the bill down since the service was ineffective and actually did harm, but they refused. 2 stars because the people at this location are nice and probably did their best. read more

I wasn't really sure what to expect because my first interaction with them felt a bit rushed, but I assumed that's bc they r RUSH P.T. Badum...Jk lol But after going in, I am able to see how crazy busy they are but one definitely get their undivided attention and care once you are inside and getting your treatments. Very friendly staffs. Space is pretty clean. Definitely one of the best PT experience. My doctor, Taylor, took time to understand my goals, keep me informed on all decisions, and I can tell while being very knowledgeable already, she still follows latest news on research to give the best advice and plans for the patient. (That is a very poorly structured run-on sentence but yall get what I mean) In short, very good, I recommend. read more

I had a fantastic experience with the Lincoln Square team. As a runner with an IT band issue, I was recommended to checkout the Lincoln Square location because of Erin's reputation and expertise with running. I feel very fortunate to have been able to work with Erin to resolve my issue. She got me back into the groove ahead of my marathon and was instrumental in helping me be physically and mentally prepared to cross the Berlin Marathon finish line the other week. The level of care I received and also witnessed with others throughout my sessions is top notch. I highly recommend Erin and the Lincoln Square team. In addition to the team, it is also in a great location - easy to get to with the Brown Line plenty of parking options if you're not within walking/biking distance. There's street parking right out front and a large parking lot across the street. read more

I met Erin Lamb during my training runs with CARA. I was experiencing pains on my left knee during my long runs and in races this year. The Novacare team at Lincoln Square provided me with treatments and exercises that helped eliminate the pain and strengthened my knees and hip chain. I ran back to back full marathon races two weeks ago on 10/19 and 10/20; and completed both with no issues. It felt amazing being able to do these with no pain or cramping. First impressions mean everything and from my first ten minutes there, I noticed the space was filthy. They still had salt granule debris on their floor mats from winter and it looked as though it hadn't been cleaned in over a year. I was brought back for a consultation with one of their therapists in their private space and could not get over the grime on their examine table. I ended up walking out after a chat with her. RUSH Physical Therapy is fabulous in all ways: Their Staff is friendly, the location is perfect for me, and working with Dr. Hurley: Dave, has been really awesome in so many ways. First, my balance & shoulder issues have improved tremendously. The workout is hard sometimes, of course, but Dave does not believe in pain or overworking a muscle. Slow and steady! I have to also say that I am clearly overweight, and older, and consequently I tend to be sensitive to that. Dave, and this office, make me feel completely comfortable, and that's huge for me. He really helped me out by not only figuring out the best course of treatment and implementing it, but also teaching me the reasons behind the exercise, what the point of each exercise was and how it would help me out in the long run. I resumed running after a twelve year hiatus last May and was doing quite well until I injured myself. My primary care doctor referred me to a sports medicine specialist and after a MRI it was discovered that I had a stress fracture of my right tibia. Dr. Brown referred me to Novacare for physical therapy. I went there reluctantly because I didn't feel as I needed any type of physical therapy. After my first appointment with Jena I was thinking about not going back but I decided to return and glad that I did so. Jena is very knowledgeable and knew what she was doing. She concurred that I had weak hips and we started hip strengthening exercises. I revealed to Jena that I had issues relating to balance and she put together an exercise program to improve my balance. Who knew that physical therapy could be fun. What helped it to be that way is that I did deferent exercises each of my twelve appointments. There was at least one thing new each visit. Another thing I enjoyed each appointment was listening to the conversations with the staff. You can tell that they really liked and cared about each other. That helps in a facility as small as Novacare. Trust me it's not a big space and not very roomy. I enjoyed my physical therapy so much as I am thinking of injuring myself just so I can go back. In all seriousness I hope that I don't have to go back but if I sustain another injury I am going to request that I go back to Novacare. Jena is outstanding and if I have to return there I am going to request that I work with Jena. Great job!!! read more

I was referred to this location by my sports medicine Dr Garg. I saw Dr Garg for a strain calf. From the 1st day I entered NovaCare I've had nothing but great results. Josh is very smart and knowledgeable in his skills of physical therapy. He has made sure that my hips and legs have strengthened enough for me to return to my half marathon training. The rest of the staff like Terry and Ryan are awesome with their skills also. Then you have Bryan who is so friendly and keeps me entertained while I'm doing my session. Ryan Perry is amazing. He first successfully treated my twin brother for plantar fasciitis, and then me for derangement in my neck that was causing lots of pain and lack of mobility. Ryan understands the body like nobody I've ever worked with- and I've worked with a lot of body workers, therapists, etc. The dry needling that he specializes in was just what was needed to balance the daily physical therapy he prescribed to heal me up. Seven years ago (after knee surgery), I was told that I probably should not run again and riding a bike caused intense pain in my knee. But thanks to Ryan and his whole staff, last weekend, I was able to complete my first (and possibly only) half Ironman at age 49. I finished the bike and run without any knee pain (though I can't say that the rest of my body enjoyed all of it the whole time). I've had to come in for physical therapy to tweak, work on, improve my flexibility and strength of my knee, hips, IT bands, etc. Each time there was more advice and exercises and improvement! No kidding, NovaCare saved my life. I thought I had tweaked my groin playing soccer with my kid. A few days later my whole leg and calf were hurting and swollen. I figured I had just hurt it worse than I thought. I did a free drop-in at NovaCare and met with Ryan. He pretty much took one look and sent me to the ER. Turned out I had a blood clot from my calf to my groin. Ryan saved my life! read more

I had a problem with my elbow, creating intense pain and limited my yoga and fitness practice. I got help from Joe Zucco and he was excellent! He is down to earth, calm, warm, and very effective. I am fortunate to have many options for physical therapy services. But NovaCare in Lincoln Square, specifically Ryan Perry, has made my knee the best it's ever been in 18 yrs. I've been plagued with many injuries and have had 4 knee surgeries over 16 yrs. In 2014-15 I had a 2 staged ACL reconstruction for my knee and Ryan spent so much time on really understanding my previous issues and making sure I don't have to have any surgery. He has a special gift as a therapist. I can honestly say I have no pain in my knee and prior to the latest surgery and rehab, I lived in pain every day. Thanks to Ryan and crew I am able to enjoy life pain free! read more

The rehabilitation specialists are knowledgeable and helpful. The facility was clean but somewhat crowded. My issue is the cost. I had 40 dollar co-pay and still received a hefty bill after paying like $240 in co-pays for half a dozen visits. I would not recommend these folks. read more

I had the pleasure of working with Ryan Perry the last few months. And while PT is rarely fun, Ryan's work was the most advanced and knowledgable i've come across in Chicago. He was able to look at the problem from a macro level and explain to me like I was a 6 year old. I was impressed with his demeanor and no BS kind of attitude that you need to get effective PT. I started out working with Josh, who is amazing and competent and good-humored, and then when he moved out of town, I worked with David, who is *also* amazing and competent and good-humored. I had such a positive experience at this place that at my last session I was like "I mean. I guess I could still come back next week just in case." LOL. What the F. I would highly recc their offices to anyone, and of course only can speak to having worked w David who is a major boss! (Not THE boss but A boss) Dealing with a broken hand sucks but feeling like, OH GOD I CAN FEEL THE INTERNET PUN COMING ON, you are in the best hands possible during post-splint rehab (what a disappointing end to a possibly already bad pun, Im so sorry, strangers) was a big relief and yes, I literally forget I broke my hand until moments like this when I am explicitly reminded that it even happened.
