Disregard the pictures posted in their website. The place is not as advertised. The employees do…read moretheir work and nothing more. Everyone looks the other way not to do more than what they have to do. Continuously gaslighted when reporting issues. I am told they will notify such and such and no one shows up. No one takes responsibility for following up. All staff disappears for hours at a time early afternoon (experienced on certain days of week) and no one to oversee patients or respond to notifications related to medical devices. This place is not suited for bedridden patients. They advertise many perks but patients are locked in their floor with a keypad (which to me is not even safe in case of an emergency). Two patients per room and things noticeably unkept. First floor have some nicer areas for communal living that seem barely used. The most that happens is sitting patients in the halls for hours at a time if they can sit on the hall. Care is minimal and dependent on who is on duty or if you know someone there. Could it be worse? Sure. Yet suboptimal premises and care. Premises look nice from outside but inside where the overcrowded patients are is another story. There is one nurse per wing. I asked for help one day for a feeding machine being blocked and almost two hours went by before anyone came to help and it was the nurse from the next shift. I am sure good people work here, but clearly it lacks in focus on patients. When I asked questions I get flaky answers that clearly show they are not familiar and are trying to gaslight me or distract me. Typically the response is that they will tell someone else and no one follows up. Found bed ridden patient in same position for days, or move into severely uncomfortable positions. Last jaw drop was to find a rodent in the premises mid afternoon. For once they were responsive to deal with the rodent. Yet how long had it been there, and given it was later in the day, how many hours had passed that no one had come to check on patients for which rodent arrived and passed. (Photos won't load at moment so will update when possible).

Please please please save yourself from the headache that Astoria will cause you…read more I'm not sure of where to start. My father was sent here for short term wound care/rehab for a tailbone related wound. He sat in bed for 2 days before anyone even assessed him. Understood he came with a referral and instructions - but 2 days to even acknowledge him is beyond ridiculous. Being there for wound care - he had to lay almost flat. At mealtimes they would just drop his tray and no one would assist him. Luckily, I was able to manage going there for breakfast and dinner to feed him. The level of care/compassion related to this is insane to me. Being at the facility morning/evenings daily was actually a godsend as I was able to see I needed to get him out ASAP. At day 4 I was doing everything in my power to find other arrangements. Thankfully he was only there for about 7 days. Upon a scheduled follow-up visit, to Illinois masonic for an unrelated follow-up, Masonic informed me he had an infection/fever, and it was from the wound (he was immediately admitted). No one at Astoria informed me of an infection or even knew he had a fever. Understood that every situation is unique /different, but I truly feel the level of care here was sub-par. i will second the other feedback here on yelp that this place looks NOTHING like pictured. rooms are tiny - zero privacy and for the short time was there - i don't think the room was even cleaned. The photos forgot to include random clutter in the hallways, old/dried up food/food trays and just general filth. Photos look like they are prob 10-12 years old as well. This place is sold as a "5 Star Facility" and I thought I was making a good decision picking this place for his short-term rehab. There really should be more oversite related to ratings and follow-up at the state/federal level related to these places. My story ended somewhat positively - yours might not. Just do yourself a favor and stay away from this place if you can. I'm truly convinced that him having a follow-up appointment, outside of Astoria, probably saved his life.

I suffer from back pain and at the recommendation of my primary doctor, started going to Rush PT…read more I assumed that they were part of the Rush hospital system. But after reviewing the Yelp, i now realize it is actually some company called "Novacare". For the last 2 months, I have been going here once a week. The facility is very small and cramped, the equipment is a bit bare. But the main problem is that there is only 1 or 2 actual Physical Therapists in the office at a time, while there are 3-5 patients scheduled for the same time. Each session is about 50-60 minutes long. But the actual time with the PT is really about 15 minutes (as Gina F mentioned in her review). The PT shows you the exercise movements about 2-3 times, then has you do 2-3 reps, makes some corrections, tells you to do 2-3 more sets by yourself, and then wanders off to work with another patient or to type something in the computer without really paying any attention to you. If the PT had already shown you an exercise before, she may just hand you off to a Student/Intern and have them run through the exercise with you. But again, the student also is not paying any attention to you while doing the exercise and is instead busy chatting with each other. Ultimately, my time ended when the PT said, she didn't think PT was working for me. Sometimes, I would realize later that I was doing the exercise wrong a few sessions later, when the actual PT showed it to me again. But I do admit, I didn't do my home exercises everyday, but only 3-4 days a week at home. Conclusion, - I would recommend you look for a better office that has more space so patients don't bump into each other. I would also recommend a PT office that offers One on One PT to patient services instead. I will be trying a different PT office and see if that is more helpful.

This is place a factory, with several patients going at once in the small space. I suspect the…read moreoutput of the factory is invoices, not care. The conditions I sought care for were unresolved, and I ended up with a massive bill for working 10-15 minutes with a PT and 45 minutes with a student. Fun fact: I'd been going for weeks before they realized my "plan" wasn't even in the computer. Then how were you reviewing and adjusting? My symptoms did not improve, but worsened, and after 12 visits I stopped going and doing the "exercises". It took about 2 months, but eventually the pains caused by following their care went away for the most part (resurfaces on the treadmill but at least it's no longer daily), as did one of the 2 concerns I came in for (lower back better, but tip of tailbone will probably take a while) . Over Thanksgiving I was visiting family out of state and my brother, a brilliant physical therapist, asked how my PT was going. He was surprised when I told him about the assigned exercises, which he didn't think were addressing the issue, and stunned to learn that after their care caused pain in my hips, they kept having me do exercises that exacerbated that pain and performed no adjustments. This isn't Rush caliber care. Perhaps they lack adequate experience, but I'm not prepared to pay for the learning curve. I went back to the gym and definitely avoiding this place. Just got my bill (last visit in November) and the charges are outrageous. $330-400 per visit to mostly do ineffective exercises with a student. I tried to call the billing dept and negotiate the bill down since the service was ineffective and actually did harm, but they refused. 2 stars because the people at this location are nice and probably did their best.
