Well, because I'm so clumsy and accident prone, Omer has worked on almost every part of my body. From my sprained ankle, to the random knee pain, TMJ issues, neck pain, pain from hernia repair, hip issues, you name it, Omer and his team can help you find relief. Nora at the front desk is super helpful and friendly. Highly recommend this practice!

Marathon miracle worker!…read more I worked with Omer for the first time before the 2015 NYC marathon. I'm including a photo of a review I wrote after that (briefly, I was 90% positive I wouldn't be able to run it because my knee pain but after seeing Omer, I finished and felt awesome!) Fast forward to 2019, I was signed up for the Chicago marathon and having major muscle issues during training. I had already seen a different PT but it hadn't helped and I reached out to Omer about a month out from the race. At this point I could only run 4 miles straight without stopping. Long story short, after just a few appointments with Omer, I was able to run 20 miles straight (!!) and then later on finished the marathon (which I had been pretty set on deferring.) Other than just performing miracles, the thing that really is amazing about Omer is that he is so thoughtful and thorough about finding the problem and then finding the best, most effective ways to help. (Something I felt was lacking when I had seen other physical therapists.) Omer is one of the nicest, most welcoming people I've met in the health care field. He is easy to talk to, truly takes an interest in his patients and their lives, and is invested in helping them reach whatever PT goals they have. I could not recommend Omer higher for any type of physical therapy!!! I know if I run another marathon, I'm going to him first :)

Ever been seen only by an assistant for a PT appointment, no Dr.? Despite having an appointment…read morewith the DPT, scheduled weeks in advance, there was neither time or hands-on manipulation with the Dr. during a one hour session. I've been at multiple providers over the past 20 years in several states, and this is the only practice where I've had the experience of being shifted to an assistant for a full appointment, not 1/2 hour with a DPT and then a 1/2 hour with a PTA or assistant to do exercises. If that's fine with you, both Mary Kate (DPT & owner) and Stella (PTA) were both excellent when I did have time with them. They charge you the same fee no matter the level of education and experience. I pay OOP and for $140/hr, I expect to spend half the appointment with a fully trained Dr. of physical therapy, not a full hour with an assistant who has 2 years educaction or less. Out of 4 appointments, intake was the only "normal" appointment of 1/2 DPT and 1/2 exercise coach. It's just not the level of therapy I've previously received, and I went elsewhere to finish my recovery program The clinic's response to my concerns was "Our cash rate is based on the type and length of skilled physical therapy service provided, rather than which licensed clinician performs it. This is standard practice, since both PTs and PTAs deliver the same level of skilled care under the therapist's direction". They do not! DPT's, PTA's and non licensed exercise assistants are not equal in their coursework or skills!

My friend is going there for physical therapy and I had a free afternoon, so I joined him. If you were injured at work or need to recover from an accident, sprains related to athletic activity, or surgery affecting mobility you could certainly do worse than one of their nine locations all over Illinois. That prevalence is a testament to the success they've found in addressing differing communities' needs for a clinic capable of specialization. But don't let that word discourage you, La Clinica's philosophy is to deliver expert knowledge and simplify the patient experience. They care about what they do and how they do it. My friend tells me they put him at ease and make the hard work of recovery manageable and perhaps even a little fun. Behind the counter you can hear the soft conversations of a small team of caregivers whose friendliness betrays a commitment to working together well, perhaps for their own sanity but I suspect it's most likely for the sake of their patients. As the city's evenings turn colder La Clinica's Chicago north location boasts a welcoming warmth; with music playing in the background, all smiles, and the occasional giggle (I told you they're friendly) this group of professionals will help you in what could be a difficult and trying time. If you're curious go to laclinicasc.com, don't forget the s.c. at the end, and reach out with any questions: consultations are free! They show almost everything there, except maybe their famous mascot which if you're like me might take you some time to realize looks familiar because you grew up in this city, and you've been passing by their establishments for almost 20 years now. A big shout out and thank you to the people at La Clinica for helping make things a bit easier, and for their commitment to their patients like my friend, who doesn't dread going to physical therapy. Let that sink in. And to anyone in the Hermosa area needing rehabilitation-- go here!

I left work early (over an hour from the North suburbs to the north side of Chicago) to make the appointment at FIT institute at 6:30 tonight and I got a call from them, around 6:15, asking if I'm running late to my appointment at 6pm... I called them back, explaining that I was on the way and my appointment was for 6:30, per my first interaction. They put me on hold for a minute and then came back and said that no, they were so sorry, but they didn't have a 'therapist on site' for an appointment starting at 6:30 tonight and would love to reschedule. No thanks.

He spends all of his time on you, and it's a 1-1 personal treatment. At first I was concerned about the cost since it's not covered by insurance, but you do get what you pay for. He is extremely thorough, as well as a down-to-earth guy. Unlike other PT places where you keep coming back week after week and someone watches you do exercises, he gives you a comprehensive plan that you can implement as soon as you leave. You can come back for a follow-up session at a discount, but in my case, since mine wasn't a full blown injury, it won't be necessary for a long time. He'll guide you through the exercises and show the proper form for them, along with explanations for what those exercises train for. In the long run, it's a higher cost up front, but I think I'm saving *more* money (and time) than had I gone to a regular PT place week after week; plus, they wouldn't know what to do with my fingers. He's a climber so he understands what pains and aches you have! The office I went to was inside the First Ascent Avondale gym - super convenient to us climbers!
