I have had either physical therapy or occupational therapy done at several of the different 'chain' therapy businesses, and honestly, the experiences were never that great. I've had therapy places that produced no results, I had therapists places who were incredibly rude and condescending to me (especially if I said I couldn't do something they asked), and worst of all, I had a therapist somewhere recently that used an instrument on my arm/elbow I'm where I was screaming in pain the entire time, and she didn't stop. After waking up the next morning with literally my entire arm black and blue, I began to think many there just aren't good physical therapy places out there. Novacare changed my mind.
After the recent painful black and blue arm incident, I called my doctor to ask where else I could to go. She had ordered PT for my tennis elbow, and I didn't want to give up on it. She decided to send me to Novacare, which was somewhat exciting for the pure reason it's just blocks from my apartment. I called immediately to make an appointment, and Shannon answered the phone. She took down all my information, and said she believed Terry would be a good match for me, and my elbow issue. The entire call was incredibly professional, and a textbook case of how to give great customer service. Not to mention, Shannon is incredibly friendly and personable, even more so when you come into the office in person.
With that said, I could not be happier with the progress I've made with Terry, who is a great therapist who listens to any concern openly, and explains things in a way easy to understand. I walked in with tennis elbow pain that kept me from being able to play an entire match of tennis, and now I am playing pain free. He crafted a great program that I was able to also follow at home, making sure not to push me too far, and I cannot believe the relief that came just in the short term. Unlike some places, they don't just have you walk in and have you exercising for an hour. They spend time on the affected area at first, helping to loosen up the area before throwing you into the work out. Many times the pain you feel walking in feels better before you even start exercising. Every time I walk out the door, I just feel so much better.
When my therapy for my elbow was done, I actually went to my doctor to ask about therapy for my back. All the times in my past where I've done therapy, it's always been for my back. The elbow issue has been new. When she did an exam, and agreed I needed weeks of therapy for my back specifically, there was no place else I wanted to go besides NovaCare, and staying with Terry. I look forward to weeks more of progress, and certainly suggest if your doctor is thinking about physical therapy, ask about NovaCare! read more
