For scheduling, insurance and payments, the "Patient Experience Coordinator" was unfriendly and abrupt, making interactions uncomfortable. I regularly worked with two physical therapists at this location for 1-2 sessions per week for more than 6 months. During each one hour visit, I worked directly with the physical therapist for 30 minutes and was then turned over to a young trainee/student for exercises. The level of competence of the trainee varied widely. Some paid attention and offered clear direction and others handed out balls or bands and then walked off. After not progressing with my recovery, I left this Athletico and spent months under the care of physical therapists at a hospital affiliated office where the full 60 minute session is with the physical therapist only. The level of care and my recovery progress increased immediately. Something to note, my insurance covered physical therapy with the same copay at the Athletico location and at my new physical therapy office. The value of care provided couldn't have been farther apart.

At first it felt as if Justin had diagnosed the issue quite profoundly, but once we got into the actual therapy it quickly went off the rails. I went in with Achilles tendinitis and they literally pounded the hell out of my calf...so much so that it got deeply bruised. Then after a couple visits they quickly switched therapists on me, even though Justin was there doing nothing as far as I could tell. Not that I objected since he really did the minimum when it came to personal attention. When it came time to pay though was when things went even further off the rails. They took full payments off my credit card BEFORE they had even submitted the claim to my insurance (which should have covered 80%). Then they used the wrong coding to the insurance company and I am still fighting with them to get it corrected. Their excuse is that they use a 3rd party to bill and that company takes a long time to submit. I've tried repeatedly to get them to refund the overcharged fees, but they either don't return my calls or just simply ignore the messages. Totally frustrating from both the treatment and the payment side. With so many other options in town, I don't recommend getting tangled up in their dysfunctional web.

The staff are professional and responsive, the scheduling is simple, billing is clearly communicated and I feel better after each session. The west loop space that Yasam is renting is a little weird, with lots of Blackhawk memorabilia. But despite that it's well lit, clean, and the music is never too loud.

I am also a remote worker, so being a keyboard warrior isn't doing me any favors. Neither are my long gaming sessions, but a gal's gotta have some fun. What can I say? Every time I've come in, I leave far better than when I entered. Dr. McTague has been the best. (I'm sure other providers here provide excellent care as well.) It's almost hilarious that my response to "how did this happen" is "me simply existing" & he just gets it. But I'm happy to report that I'm back to a maintenance level of care & more often than not, pain-free. If you're prone to sleeping weird & waking up unable to turn your neck, come here. It also must be said, their massage therapists are absolute sorcerers. Ken, JJ, & everyone do amazing work. I've had to sit in my car for a few minutes after to come back to earth after a session. It's ugly-cry worthy because you feel so much better. The front desk? Accommodating & friendly. If you find yourself aching & sore, this is the place to visit. I'm happy to be a patient here - thank you for all you do!

This is my first time doing PT and my integrative physician at Northwest Memorial Hospital…read morerecommended this facility. My practitioner, Emily, was very thorough, attentive, and professional. In addition, Lauren their patient services/reception/office representative is very friendly, attentive, and professional as well. They both made me feel well taken care of from start to finish. On a side note: I had no idea how truly "corrupt" the insurance companies are. I have ACTUAL chronic pain, and my insurance covered 30 visits, but after 12 visits, my insurance cut me off. So I learned from this experience and friends who've also done PT: The questionnaires that PT practitioners have to give to patients for insurance/compliance purposes is way too subjective. I am a former athlete whose pain threshold is high... So I unfortunately answered the questions too honestly in relation to my pain. In actuality, I have a lot of pain, but I handle it too. A word of caution. But yes, this practice in Andersonville/Edgewater is very good. Highly recommended!

I injured my posterior tibialis in my right leg. It had become impossible to run without pain and I limped home the few times that I tried it before going in for the assessment. At my evaluation, Marissa was thorough in her examination and clear in her explanation of my injury. Marissa was an amazing physical therapist. There were times that I felt overwhelmed by the exercises but her good humor kept the mood light and my motivation up. Her kindness and encouragement kept me moving. And she was always willing to take the time to show me how to do the exercises. It was challenging. There were times that I wanted to throw in the towel. But I had been determined from the start to get back to full strength. We are both avid runners and she freely shared her wealth of knowledge about the sport. I'll actually miss being able to have those running discussions at my appointments. I grew to appreciate the challenge of the PT exercises. The exercises pushed me further than I had on my own and doing so under supervision made me feel comfortable. I became more confident in my abilities and could feel my body growing stronger than before. The pain in the leg gradually lessened as the weeks passed. We worked on building strength in the muscles to prevent injury from returning and worked on mobility. She ran a Visual Gait Analysis, with me running on a treadmill, using a camera. She ran the videos through a computer program to accurately map my running form and performance. It was enlightening and helpful to see exactly how my body was moving through the run cycle. That data will continue to be invaluable to my growth as a runner. A physical therapy clinic is not generally a place that runners want to end up. It usually means there's a problem which is stopping them from participating in the sport that they love. I certainly felt down and a little hopeless when I entered. I had found a gift in running that I felt was taken away by pain. As cheesy as it sounds, I learned that Athletico Andersonville South is a place of hope. There can be difficulty and steep challenge encountered there. But the dedicated clinicians, like Marissa, can give you back that gift of sport. They do so by helping you to conquer your injury through hard work, in the clinic, under expert guidance. I hope to remain injury-free as long as possible, but if I'm ever in need of PT then this clinic will be the first place that I'll go.
