Visited the Lyric Theatre for a show. This is a classic Broadway venue with a spacious, well-maintained interior. The seating is fairly comfortable though a bit tight, and sightlines are good from the floor. The theater has a nice mix of historic charm and modern updates, making it a pleasant place to see a show. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the location in the heart of the Theater District is very convenient. Ideal for any Broadway performance, whether it's a big musical or a smaller production.

We went to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The whole performance was amazing and story line was amazing. The special effects was amazing and just overall a great show. It was my first broadway show and it has showed me that this is something AI cannot take from us... ART.

I have been to four shows on Broadway this past year and this theater so far has been my favorite. Through a friend of a friend I was able to purchase house seats where all I had to do was go to the box office to receive them- getting the tickets from the box office was a breeze. I absolutely loved the setup on the inside along with where the gift shop was, bar locations and bathrooms. It was pretty spread out for the most part. The seats were very comfortable compared to the other venues I attended as well. At the end of the show, my friend's friend gave me and my husband a backstage tour and we were able learn a bunch of new information about lyric theater that I found fascinating. Specifically before Harry Potter the whole theater went through a massive reconstruction - they reshaped balcony, added magical elements, made a whole new ceiling system to make the theater a more intimate experience for viewers. Going behind the stage was pretty amazing seeing the different platforms on the stag, the different props and just being able to see the entire theater from a performers point of view was just incredible.

What a great theatre for this production!! Wow. It felt initmate and it was clean. What a fun experience to watch Harry Potter. Truly enjoyed our production here. Beautiful theater. Gift shop at the back with access to exit.

I wish they had Snapchat filters like the other theaters though, but this one worked

This was my second time visiting the Lyric Theatre, and it was just as lovely as I remembered. My friend and I came to see T22felton on Broadway, obviously, and I ordered the trolley witch package ahead of time. My one piece of critical feedback would be can they expand the bathrooms PLEASE. 18 stalls in the basement with only a 15 mins intermission is just not enough time. Or if expanding isn't possible (again, I get it) maybe have a bit longer of an intermission.

My husband took me to the Lyric Theatre for a performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (with Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy in his Broadway premiere) on my birthday this past Sunday, and I was really blown away by the theater. It's HP-paradise (decorated to the nines - like entering the HP universe yourself). They tell you to arrive early, and if you do, there's plenty to do - grab a frozen or draft butterbeer at the bar, buy merchandise, take your picture at the photo background, visit the phone booth connected to the Ministry of Magic... The theater is absolutely gorgeous - the ceiling! The HP carpeting! We sat on the dress circle level, and I really appreciated that there were bathrooms on that level. For this production, the theater was incredible. I felt like a kid!

In it's 7th year of housing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the theatre has been entirely transformed into a Harry Potter themed wonderland. There are entrances on both 43rd and 44th st; the 43rd st entrance is usually less crowded. Just to the right of the 44th st entrance (when facing the building) is where the stage door is. Inside they have a merch store (on the 43rd st side) with exclusive merch that can't be bought the Harry Potter store New York including Cursed Child themed clothing, Tom Felton window cards/posters, magnets, shirts. There are also smaller merch stands on both the first and second floors. There is also a dedicated candy store and a coat check. They have a ministry phone box, and there are various ig filters you can use to make paintings on the walls/ceilings move. Themed drinks like frozen alcoholic butterbeer are sold on both floors as well. I personally found it a bit bitter (the quality of the alcohol is just okay) but it was a fun drink. There is a qr code in front of your seat if you don't want to stand in line; they will bring it directly to you. But they do use lower quality totes to pack your order so it's kind of bad for the environment. Don't forget to come back out into the lobby during intermission as there are some fun changes that happen in the lobby.

This was my daughter's first Broadway experience and she loved it. A lot of entertaining things from the lobby through the halls and staircases leading to our seats in the balcony. Delicious snacks available for purchase. A nice view of the stage from our seats. A fun time.

Harry Potter & the Cursed Child......it was incredible.....so many magical moments like clothes becoming robes, fire spewing wands, a new Voldemort relative. There is sparse parking for the theater so use Lyft. Good to use the bathroom b4 the show. Large theater but not many bathroom stalls actually. Interesting souvenirs. There are product spoiler at intermission. I bought the spoilers and I was 2nd in line. An amazing time and location. It's Broadway so seats are close together and it feels like an ancient place. Still wonderful and will return again and again. Helpful staff.

This place was amazing! Talk about and Emerson's experience. This is the perfect theater for Harry Potter! The show was amazing and so were the special effects! I would be happy to see this show again!

This theater is absolutely stunning. The vibe brings you back to the 20s and it feels old school. The red carpet, the tiered flooring, the ornate booths lining the walls of the theater. The sound travels well and I doubt a bad seat exists in here. Bathroom lines can get long as expected but move quickly.

I hadn't been to a Broadway show in ages! So when a friend invited me to see Harry Potter, saying "yes" was a no-brainer. Ordinarily, I wouldn't have chosen this play, but it really is a fantastic show. The acting, the costumes, the lighting and special effects, the humor, the storyline - all great. This is a beautiful theater, so I highly recommend getting there to take it in. Security was very thorough but also friendly.

Visited the theatre on March 21,2025 to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Entry was smooth and door staff was friendly. Bathrooms were clean. Our seats were amazing and the theatre was clean. Sound quality was great.

Ask the Community - Lyric Theatre

Does the theater allow off duty law enforcement officers who show a badge and ID to carry their off duty weapons? With all the craziness lately and coming from Long Island I don't want to leave it at home, god forbid something happens.

No, weapons are not allowed inside the venue.

Is there security at the main entrance with all that is going on recently?

There was security in August. So probably.

It says on the website no large bags. We have one backpack and one over the shoulder bag (that could fit a computer). Are they too large? We have to make a bus then flight right after the show. (Or is it more about no luggage?)

We followed the rules and we saw people going I. With large shopping bags. I think you will be fine.

    Is coat check free here?

Yes it is. Although I would recommend tipping as you would for a valet service.

Got tix for seats 8&10 in orchestra V. Would I have been better off in a balcony? My girlfriend has poor eyesight and those were the closest I could get at the time. :/

https://aviewfrommyseat.com/venue/Lyric+Theatre/ is a website you can check your seats. We were in the balcony and had a great view. Closer is always better, but you can check the website and see actual views from your "seat."

My husband and I are seeing both parts on a Wednesday in February. I would like to make reservations for dinner, but am not certain what time the first half ends? Where did other guests go between performances? Thanks!

The shows run from 2pm-4:30 and 7:30-9:45pm so there is plenty of time to eat and plenty of restaurants nearby. Juniors (don't take reservations), Carmine's Italian (takes reservations), a few restaurant/pubs nearby too. Enjoy!

    Can I bring snacks in?

Nope. And no, not even if you keep it in your bag, as they'll check and confiscate any food items.

Is it possible to upgrade to a prime ticket or ATG lounge experience?

The Lyric theater does NOT exchange, upgrade or accept returns. I've tried.

Bought seats to Harry Potter in the Dress Circle Center. The ticket receipt states they are Prime Tickets that include the ATG Lounge Experience. What does prime tickets and lounge experience include? Early entry? Intermission? After-show? Thanks.
