Seriously, you could navigate through one of these with your eyes closed. Once you've been in one Cracker Barrel, you've pretty much been in them all, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. They're almost always located right off of a highway exit, and what you find there is exactly what you expect. The closest thing to an old school diner experience that you could expect. The menu has gone through some changes over the years. I think they recently added Uncle Herschel's breakfast back which was actually a really big deal to me because that was always my thing. Just like getting the Rooty Tutti Fresh and Fruity from IHOP mainly because I like saying that. Appetizers are fantastic! Fried pickles are a little salty but oh so tasty! The beignets are really good. They now have a cinnamon bun skillet which is great. It looks a little terrifying in the menu because you think it's way bigger than it is, but it's a decent size to split between three or four people, so it makes a great high carb okay, it's a pure carbohydrate appetizer and it's worth it. Typically it's a friendly atmosphere, kitschy ambiance, kids love to play the peg game, comfy rocking chairs outside if you have to wait a while. It's full of controversy over their logo for some stupid reason that I think was actually generated by bots and not real human beings. I'm not upset with logo changes. I enjoy the restaurant. I enjoy the people who work there. I enjoy the people who sit near me at the tables, and I certainly enjoy going there with my family.

Our waitress not so much, I'm a server too and my standards are pretty low because I know what the restaurant industry is like, but they were not busy, I saw her refilling other tables coffee and ignoring us, and seemed bothered when I asked for a refill, might go back but if you don't like your job, don't do it

We went a few Sundays in the late spring and had a good experience. When Knoebel's opened, the experience went downhill. We drew the line when we went in on a Sunday where large groups were present, and they apparently had no clue on buffet etiquette, or just didn't care. Cleanliness and food safety are huge to me after I got horrible food poisoning at another buffet in the area and spent 4 days in the ICU with it. While the buffet area itself was clean and the food was to temperature, there were many patrons taking dirty plates back up. We notified our server who just looked at us and kind-of shrugged and walked away. My husband approached one of them and said, "Please don't keep taking dirty plates back up to the buffet.". One of them chastised him and told him he was "nuts" and that he was lying that it's not OK to do that. Plates are not at the buffet - the server brings them, and will bring two sets at the beginning, and then will replenish when needed. When we left, we informed another server that it was gross to do that and they're opening themselves up for issues if the health department stopped by, she asked why we didn't say anything. We said that we did but the server didn't seem to care. She yelled "I care!" from behind a door, but that was enough for us to opt to not return until Knoebel's was closed for the year. We suggested that they consider keeping the plates at the buffet area to discourage that. We decided to try again recently. Not only was there a large group there taking their dirty plates back up, but they were also taking dirty utensils up and using them. I was 3/4 through my plate when I saw that and refused to eat any more. My husband again said something to them, and they just pretended as if he didn't hear. We again said something to the server and suggested that they need to put signs up saying to not take dirty plates back up, or again to put plates at the buffet, but I'm fairly confident nothing will be done. There are other reviews out there that bring up questions of cleanliness, which is concerning. Unsure whether we'll try to return or not. At 10 am, much of the hot side of the buffet was empty, and not restocked while we were there, which is another strike.

We were walked past numerous open booths and put in a corner where you had to squeeze past 2 other tables where people were seated to get to it. When those guests left, they started sweeping the floors and kicking up dirt while we were sitting there eating. They cleaned the tables (not the chairs) and then sat the chairs upside down on top of clean new place settings. I started with the salad bar (an extra $6.99 charge to my meal). The photos on the menu showed crispy chicken. I get up there and it's three (SMALL) 6"x12" pans with browning wilted lettuce, spinach, and spring mix. Nowhere was there chicken or any sort of special toppings that resembled what was shown in the photos. My main was the vegetarian Benedict. Avocado and tomato on a toasted muffin topped with eggs and hollandaise sauce. I asked for grits as my side which was a choice on the menu. I put my butter on the grits and it never melted. I noticed and touched them and they were cold. My hollandaise sauce had 0 flavor and was like one of those packets you get from the store where you just need to add water. Even the eggs were flavorless. The avocado was browning and had a weird texture. I had asked for a little extra hollandaise to try and offset. Later I found I was charged a fee of $2.06 for modifying the meal but nothing was brought up about an up-charge when I had made the request. My friend had gotten carrot cake and icecream. The menu had said add a scoop of icecream to any slice of pie or cake for $2.99. We were charged $3.99. Every item on the bill had an additional "fee" added to it. When asked, they said that was the price - but it did not reflect the menu prices. Save yourself the money and frustration, and go across the street to McDonald's or Wendy's. It's a cleaner atmosphere and you get what you pay for there.
