The Blind Pig is a hidden culinary gem in Bloomsburg, PA! I was visiting Danville for work and The Blind Pig was recommended by multiple people! After looking up this restaurant on Google, I was so enamored by their unique menu, especially their Weeds & Seeds Salad that I was dying to dine at this Farm to Table Restaurant. Thankfully, my sweet coworkers made my wish come true! We were a large group of 8 and shared the: 1) Local Cheese Plate (Changes daily, we had Aged Cheddar, Starlight, St. Malachi, and the Black & Blue; $14) 2) Beets W/ Goat Cheese and Dill ($7) The starters we ordered were all so delicious! Of the cheeses, my favorite was the St. Malachi. I've never tried this one before and it was so flavorful, a bit tender and nutty. You have to try this if you haven't yet! For myself, of course I had to order the Weeds & Seeds Salad (Wild Salad Mix, Sunflower Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Bee Pollen, Edible Blossoms, Honey Mustard Vinaigrette; $8). This salad was a dream, to say the least! Not only did it look beautiful, but it tasted amazing! It was unlike any salad I have ever tried before. I loved the light Honey Mustard Vinaigrette and the touch of Bee Pollen. For my main dish, I ordered the Rainbow Trout (Trout Filets Dusted with Sumac and Pan Seared Topped with Vanilla Buerre Blanc and Red Raspberry Gastrique; $25) W/ Hot Greens and Cold Veggie as my two accompaniments. The trout was so delectable and unique. I loved the taste of the vanilla with the raspberry together, such complementary flavors! The Hot Greens and Cold Veggie were also really delicious. For dessert I tried their Shiso-Basil Creme Brulee ($6). Can I just say, what a marvelous combo? I am obsessed with Shiso leaves, but have only had them with sashimi. Never have I seen it used in a dessert. This Creme Brulee just tasted so perfect that I wanted to order another one, but didn't want my coworkers to judge me haha. The chef here is just so talented and the customer service was outstanding. The interior of the restaurant is so charming, a bit rustic and minimalistic and I loved the touch of fresh flavors at every table. Could not praise nor express my love for this restaurant more. A true diamond in a food desert, the Blind Pig excels from the chic farmhouse aesthetic to the pretty plate presentations where the menu is prepared in house from local farmers. (They even have various events throughout the year where you can even meet their farmers!) Charcuterie options are a nice conversation options, before the meal options. The menu is simple, but use of vegetables along with their deft of preparation create a harmonious flavor profile that has you wanting more. Beverage options include coffee, tea and local kombucha. NO soda which I love but you can BYOB! I wouldn't say this one is the most child friendly, as the menu might be a bit different for picky palates who look for chicken tenders by default. It's perfect for a girls/boys or a date night or even to impress parents! I don't really have a favorite, I love everything! This place freakin rules. The caprese salad was soooo good--four kinds of heirloom tomatoes, really really good balsamic vinegar, and flavorful fresh greens. The primavera pasta was special. I've never had pasta that tasted like it before--light and rich and unique. The sun-dried tomatoes in the primavera were like little pods of a completely different flavor that burst open to give you a temporary break from the pasta's flavor, and then you come back to the pasta and feel even more grateful for it. The shiitake mushrooms are great. The salmon was delicious, also--crisp and black-peppery. And it all comes from farms/suppliers within 65 miles of the restaurant!!! read more

Chef Toby and his wife Sarah have created a fantastic restaurant in the heart of Bloomsburg that I wish 1. was located closer to me and 2. I had dine here previously. Atmosphere: Extremely Casual, Farm to Table, Farm/Country Atmosphere very suitable for the area with the idea of visiting a family member or a good friend's house for dinner/brunch. Mason Jars are filled with cold water that is enjoyable to have on a hot summer night. Fresh brewed teas served cold (or hot) can be provided for your enjoyment as well. Menu: The menu updates at least once or twice per month that varies on the fresh and locally farmed (less than 65 miles from restaurant at most) vegetables, fruit, meat, etc. that is available and/or in season. Specials are posted on the chalkboard. Many items are grown on the farm of the owners/chef that they are very proud to produce and share with their guests at The Blind Pig Kitchen. Food: Excellent, excellent, excellent. Duck Confit - out. of. this. world. I have had Duck Confit in Paris, St. Maartin, Napa Valley and many restaurants within the states - but Chef Toby's Duck Confit is best Duck Confit I have had in the states! For someone who has never had duck or Duck Confit, this is the place to try it. The food quality was outstanding and the creations were wonderful. The Strawberry Shortcake (forgot to take picture) was probably the BEST Strawberry Shortcake with homemade biscuit, homemade strawberry topping and homemade whipped cream I have ever had. I usually do not prefer the biscuit style, mainly because the biscuit tends to be too dry and brittle or too dense that the strawberries do not penetrate into the inside of the biscuit. This was perfectly made. Service: Impeccable. The waitresses are very proud to work for such a wonderful restaurant, and you are treated like family - again, as if you were dining at the home of Owner/Chef Toby. Side Notes: BYOB. Reservations recommended (although they do accept walk-ins). Parking is metered only (free on weekends) in the surrounding public parking lots. Stay up-to-date with their Facebook page with specials or menu updates. This restaurant was recommended to us while visiting family in Danville. We could not have been happier with our decision to go there! LOVE that it's farm to table. The decor is adorable and our waitress, Christina, was so sweet. There were three of us and we ordered: - beets with goat cheese and deviled eggs for starters. The deviled eggs have salmon on top which is just the perfect addition. - the scallop special, which came over a bed of thinly sliced cucumbers marinated in a sweet thai chili sauce - the rabbit sandwich - rainbow trout - for dessert: the peppercorn creme brûlée and a cheese board The food was incredible, with super fresh ingredients and excellent seasonings. We had been wanting to try this place out since hearing about it about a year ago but could never seem to fit it in to our hectic schedules. Decided to give it a go for our anniversary and we couldn't be happier with our choice. We love supporting locally owned businesses and this is a locally owned business that supports locally owned farms, so it's like killing 2 birds with 1 stone. Of course, this is only half of the equation. The food still has to measure up as well, and The Blind Pig absolutely killed it with our meal. We had the cheese plate and deviled pickled eggs for appetizers. I'm not the biggest cheese guy (unless it's on a sandwich or a pizza) and I don't remember the names of the various cheeses that were brought to us, but they were all really enjoyable. The deviled pickled eggs were incredible. For our entrees, I had the duck and my girlfriend had the salmon. Both were cooked perfectly. Duck is one of my go to meals when I see it on a menu is this one probably ranks in my top 5 ever. I never expected a small town restaurant in Pennsyltucky to compete with some high end joints in Philly, NY, DC, LA, Seattle, etc, but their duck is right up there with the best of them. The service was also very good. My only complaint is that the place is a little on the small side and feels a bit cramped. I couldn't get out of my seat without bumping into the person sitting at the table behind me...and vice versa. A little discomfort is a small price to pay for a delicious meal though. The price is a bit on the high end for the area, but it's still far less than what you would pay in the city and the quality of the meal is on par, if not better than most comparable urban joints. We will definitely go back - hopefully a little more frequently than on our anniversary. read more

Only visited once so far and looking forward to visiting again. Yes the portions are small, only because most restaurant have crazy big portions. I'm a big girl and I was happy with my meal, I didn't leave hungry and I even had a doggy bag. We did order starters, I had the pickled deviled eggs with smoked salmon, tangy and smoky, delicious. My husband had the bread, yes it's not complimentary but at a mear $6 it's a big board with a variety of 4 different breads, they were all fresh and tasty. For the meal I had the duck confit with the elderberry-lavender gastric. The duck was cooked perfect, crispy skin and juicy meat, the gastric was a sweet compliment to the duck. My husband had the grass-fed ribeye with the blackberry agrodulce compound butter at chef's temp. It was rare, would've enjoyed more in a med-rare, but the steak was delicious and the compound butter went perfect with it. We had the same sides of a garlic vinaigrette green salad and onion mashed potatoes, both delicious and fresh. For dessert I had the lavender ice cream, it was sweet and creamy, a good ending to my meal. When we could eat out, I loved this place. I wasn't in the area often but everytime I was, I made it a point to eat at least one meal there. Now I'm back long term and I ordered Friday night for delivery through GrubHub. I ordered in advance for 6pm delivery. The restaurant confirmed the order at 5:01pm, when their delivery window starts (only 5-7). At 6, delivery update was 6:10. At 6:10, got pushed again. Around 6:45 there was finally a delivery person assigned so I texted and asked what the ETA was. They were on their way to the restaurant. 5 min later, THAT'S BEFORE THE DELIVERY WINDOW FOR THE RESTAURANT WAS OVER, he texted back and said the restaurant was closed. I'm trying to fathom how this place stays in business if this is how they treat customers. The thing is, I live 4 blocks away from the restaurant. If Blind Pig Kitchen had signed up to pick up service via Grub Hub, I would have picked it up. But they only let you do delivery. By then confirming my order, they indicated that they were there and going to make my damn food. I seriously don't they even bothered to make duck confit and then let it go to waste without even attempting to contact the person who paid for it. I tried calling the restaurant after the delivery person texted me and it went to voicemail. I doubt I'll be calling them again. This was our second visit to the Blind Pig and our dinner was even better than our first visit. We started with the artisan meat board which had a chicken liver Pate, pickled goose and pork rillets all had great flavor and texture. My fiancé had the fettuccini bolognese which was executed perfectly...with homemade fettuccini pasta and a beef base bolognese. I had the trout which was dusted with autumn spices and accompanied by a raspberry sauce. The sides were warm kale seasoned just right and a garlic mashed potato. Everything was bursting with flavor, not overly salted and portioned correctly leaving us satisfied without feeling stuffed. I chose pate, pickled goose, and a fantastic cheese plate for starters. I then ordered a rabbit pasty for the main dishes. Everything ordered was fresh, nicely presented, and perfectly prepared. From Nicole's engaging (but not intrusive) attention as our waitress to a remarkable farm-to-table menu, I was impressed beyond being impressed beyond being impressed. First off, the space is small so you need a reservation. Plan now and make one. The app portions are precious (small but worthy). The appetizers like the beet salad with goat's cheese and mustard (who'd have thunk it) are intended to leave room for your meal but the bread board was honestly a sharer. We tried both and could not have been more pleased. Entree was Duck confit with elderberry gastrique. Yes. Yes. And yes. Wow. Chose two sides - cold salad (Bibb lettuce with lemon vinaigrette) and cold veg (mouse melon with heirloom tomatoes - imagine a fresh, crunchy Greek and tomato salad without the feta). This place was really enjoyable. We were on a road trip from Chicago to the East Coast and as anyone who has taken that trip would know there is a real lack of good restaurants or, more importantly, fresh fruits and vegetables. I was feeling really gross after eating at small town family restaurants for the past 2 days so I got really excited when we got to Danville and this restaurant showed up on yelp. The food is all sourced locally and very fresh. We all enjoyed it immensely. The service and decor of the restaurant were really nice and there's a bustling local ice cream shop next door. The town is cute as well, we had never heard of Bloomsburg. If you're in the area and dying for some fresh food, come here The only complaint I did have was that some of the food was oversalted, but I like salty food so it wasn't a huge issue read more

Stopped in here while in town for business. It was the best meal I had all the week! The farm to table feeling was there from the moment I walked through the door. The place is small and simple. The waiter gave us every single detail on the daily specials which was nice. I went with their regular menu chicken breast, it was cooked to perfection. I got the hot salad which was kale and swiss chard; also cooked and seasoned perfectly. We had the cheese plate, bread plate, and meat plate to start, which was entirely too much food. All of it was delicious, and we felt full before our entrees had even arrived. Spent a charming weekend in the central PA countryside and dined at this little gem in Bloomsburg after a day hiking to waterfalls in Ricketts Glen State Park. Everything is locally sourced and delicious. My scallops with hot candied peppers were imaginative and divine. My husband couldn't get enough of the bone marrow and bacon gravy on his perfectly cooked rib eye. Since everything is locally sourced, we also had the best homemade vanilla ice cream with fresh peach cobbler. Yum! The menu has something for everyone, including vegetarian and vegan options and I think gluten free as well. It's BYOB, so bring a few bottles of your favorite wine/beer/cider. Outstanding! Comfortable ambiance, attentive service, wonderful flavor. My husband has a bit of an appetite so he enjoyed both the pork chop and London broil while I enjoyed the duck confit. Everything was cooked to perfection! All sides were dare I say it "delish." The must haves: seed salad (bee pollen included!), duck confit, Pork chop, creme brûlée! We also enjoyed the cheese plate, so much fun because it aligned so nicely honey/jam/cheese (perfect aromas) flatbread crackers with the right bottle of wine. Another wonderful meal at TBPK! Service was friendly, attentive, easy and knowledgeable. The women (in the front and back of the house) were tops! Menu was fantastic! The salad tasted like it was picked seven minutes ago! The pork chop was divine! The hot greens and mashed potatoes were yummy! The blueberry pie was sinful! The service was very good. We were shown right to our table and there was water and service ready. The wait staff was knowledgeable and helpful. The appetizers run $7-15. We loved the stuffed mushrooms. The bread plate was a mixed bag. Muffins were delicious. The yeast bread flavorless. We needed to ask for more than a tablespoon of butter that we were provided. Entrees $19-30. We ordered a variety at our table. Salmon was delicious. Mutton Stew tasty. Chicken Florentine was very good. The rib eye was perfectly done but the garnish tasted off. The sides were fantastic. The warm greens were fabulous. Best we have had. The asparagus was nicely grilled. The carrot ginger soup was phenomenal. We would recommend it for a nice evening out. After adventuring at the ever-kitschy Bill's Old Bike Barn, I wanted to plan a special dinner for him while we were into the area and I chose The Blind Pig Kitchen based on other favorable reviews. It did not disappoint! We got there right at five, as they opened. Even though we were the first ones there, I was glad I had made a reservation because the place begin to fill up quickly! We had a lovely seat in the window. Our server, dressed in a smart signature blue and white checked button down, was professional, personable and knowledgeable. We shared the delectable cheese plate to start. I had the vegetarian ravioli stuffed with mushrooms and cheese, served with a brown butter sauce and sage. It was extraordinary. The ravioli was generously sized, hardy and rich. He had the rabbit fettuccine special which was also outstanding. For dessert we had a piece of buttermilk cake topped with a pear poached in red wine and a French press carafe of some mighty fine coffee. At only an hour from the Poconos, we will most definitely be back. Loved it. read more
