Great food and always fresh I start with the calamari and end off with cheese ravioli hoping I have room for one of their cheesecakes! A great if you know you know spot very lowkey and great service read more

Rose Marie's - Calamari - Italian Near Me - Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania

Sorry... don't understand the 4 stars for Rose Marie's. I will say the atmosphere was very cozy and I had high hopes when I walked in but it went downhill quickly. First off, we got there early and sat down at the bar for a drink before our 6p reservation. Only problem was the bar tender never acknowledged us for at least 5 minutes even though she looked right at us making drinks. Luckily one of the waitress said hello and told us the bar tender would be right with us. I assume she noticed the bar tender ignoring us. The hosted was very nice and sat us early when I let her know my wife and I were here but my friend wasn't here yet. After we sat, our waitress never checked in to see if we wanted anything as we waited for my friend. I had to wave her down to let her know we would like to order a few appetizers. The appetizers, were simply just ok....Fried Zucchini and a few meatballs. Why I ordered Chicken Parm after tasting the meatball appetizer and not really digging the sauce. I should have gotten the Chicken Marsala.... My bad on that one. Needless to say I only ate half the Chicken Parm. My wife only ate a quarter of her Eggplant Parm. My friend did enjoy his Lasagna.... So there is a plus. Not that I will be in Bloomsberg Pa anytime soon but I know if I was, Rose Marie's won't be a place I would try again. Sorry... I rarely right bad reviews... but Rose Marie's is just not that good. read more

I came here, hoping that it would be better than I thought unfortunately, I was just a bit disappointed to start out with the stuff that I liked. I actually really liked the house salad. I think that was the best part of my entire meal so the house salad was just basically Lettuce and it, but it had different cheeses like it had fresh mozzarella and then a lot of olives and other veggies and tomatoes those other veggies really added to the salad and made it taste a lot more fresher and with that fresh mozzarella, I really felt like that made a difference and with the house salad comes on Italian vinaigrette, and I thought that the Italian vinaigrette was light enough to add to the meal and wasn't too heavy at all so in fact, I actually really liked the house salad the most out of the entire meal second I would say was a focaccia bread that is just a standard bread that comes with every meal. I thought it was actually very well. Seasoned at first I was a bit disappointed because I was expecting more about fluffy loaf rather than a focaccia, but it was still very good and I actually quite enjoyed it because it had such good seasoning on it, but then I tried their gnocchi and unfortunately, it really didn't live up to what my expectations of it would be I felt like the cream sauce was too heavy and maybe I should've known knowing that it was a cream sauce that it would be heavy, but I just found it a bit heavy a bit bland as well. I had to put my own chili flakes on it to spice it up a little bit, but that just might be me as well because I like being a little bit more spicier in addition to that I asked him to add chicken and it was grilled chicken and I just felt like the grilled chicken was a bit dry. It was your standard grilled chicken that you could get anywhere and wasn't anything special. I can't comment on how their other chicken dishes would be, but for this one which included a grilled chicken I didn't think that it was that great all in all I felt like the dish itself was something that you could get at any restaurant for probably a cheaper price than what I paid which was about $19 for the chicken and pasta and I feel like you could go to another restaurant and probably get it for $15 or less just because it just tasted like a standard pasta With nothing special to it. The tiramisu tasted decent. It was about seven bucks and I think it was worth 70 bucks actually it wasn't anything special or out of the ordinary from other Italian restaurants but if you're looking for a decent tiramisu, this is a good option. I also decided to get the fried risotto balls and again. I just felt like this dish was a pretty basic. It had OK seasoning. It had some seasoning on it this time, but it wasn't anything that I felt really hit the spot I felt like it was a standard fried risotto bowl that you could again get anywhere else And it just felt heavy. all in all I just feel like the restaurant was very Standard. It wasn't anything you knew or unique or really fresh in terms of Italian food goes the food here is something that I feel like I could get in other places as well and that's why I think I was a bit disappointed because there wasn't a sense of authenticity that I was kind of looking for. I think there are a few dishes like I said, the house salad I really enjoyed but other than that, I thought that it was a standard Restaurant meal that I probably wouldn't get again in the future read more

Mom and pop shop feel, authentic Italian cuisine. The menu is huge and everything we ordered was delicious. Highly recommend

Great menu of classic Italian dishes, and homemade specialty pizzas. Friendly staff and bartenders. Treat you like family.

Wonderful food in a less than ideal spot. Rose Marie's was a fantastic getaway that busy road right there.

Loved this place! Husbands is Italian and said it was wonderful veal picatta. Service was great. We will definitely be back.

We had a delicious dinner and the service was amazing and friendly. Our grandson got a hug from the waitress and we received a compliment from a customer about how sweet he was. The menu included a wide variety of dishes making it hard to choose one. We look forward to returning. read more

Rose Marie's is a decent option for sit down dining with an Italian focused menu. It's appeal as the prime location in that regard has dimished somewhat in recent years, but it still offers one of the most diverse menus by main street. The key winners in my years going there are the almond stuffed dates (appetizer) and the Mediterranean Chicken pizza. The food otherwise is mostly solid, but not quite as highlight worthy. Whatever you do, don't get the Buffalo chicken pizza. read more

The food was amazing. We had a little of everything and shared. The different flavors and dishes were great. We were very pleased. The atmosphere was very nice. The dishes came out more quickly than we expected. I would definitely recommend. read more

My husband and I are in the area because he was in the hospital at Danville. One of his nurses recommended Rose Marie's to us and it was amazing. I couldn't decide between 2 chicken dishes, so I allowed our wonderful waitress to choose, and it was likely one of the best meals I've ever had. My husband was hungry for seafood, and his dish was filled with large portions of lobster, shrimp and scallops. He loved it. Prior to dinner they serve delicious spiced flat bread. The place is a bit hard to find. It's in an alley off of the main drag, but the search is certainly worth it. read more

On a road trip, our hotel receptionist recommended Rose Marie's. Huge menu! We had the Ravioli Ruth, which was great (the sage butter was amazing!) and the lasagna bolognese was really good. Oh and the house Chianti was yum! Service was friendly...and knowledgeable. (Thanks Dana) Pak behind the restaurant! read more

We ordered the fried burrata appetizer in vodka sauce, fig salmon entree and family ordered pasta dishes which came with salads. Food tasted great and the servings were big. They have a small dining room but if they could improve where they have things stored and give it a little bit of an update would give them 5 stars. read more

Food is good but does not even closely measure up to LaPrimavera in Lewisburg. As for the service.......something to be desired if your waitress is Emily. She's always "busy" but gets little accomplished. We've had to ask several times for the same things. Napkins, bread, drink refills, etc. When we FINALLY got our appetizer, not much more than 5 minutes later, our meals came out. Alfredo sauce is excellent, zucchini sticks are excellent and I love the salad. Stay away from the "Orange Cream sauce. Yuck!!!! If you're in that area and want a better dinner, go to A Taste of Italy. Quite honestly, I don't think I would be going back. read more

Once again, I am very happy with coming here. Just had our apps (calamari and zucchini), and with the wine served - all is excellent!!

This place is a little hard to find despite being on the Main Street. Service was very good and Sierra remembered us from our call to see if they were open. Family atmosphere. I had the Filet Benedetto which was smothered in a creamy pink sauce generously endowed with chunks of lobster, shrimp and other seafood. It was really quite impressive and tasty. We also had the chicken cannelloni which Sierra recommended. My wife enjoyed it, I thought it a little too heavy. Wine list is limited but the Chianti was adequate. I don't think they are getting a Michelin star anytime soon, but it was a pretty solid experience for a Sunday night at 8:00 pm. read more

Delicious food and great atmosphere. Glad we stopped here on our cross-country drive.

Rose Marie's was an okay place to sit down for lunch. It's off on a side street so it's a bit hard to find but once you do it's this little intimate place with a full bar (from what I could tell) and a wood-burning stove right in the corner. Very cute and well put-together. I ordered their Chicken Parm which was just okay. The vegetables were very inedible and tasted like they came out of a frozen bag but the marinara sauce and chicken itself were pretty good once I added more Parmesan to taste. My family all got calzones and had no complaints. Good size for lunch dishes. However, I'm knocking off an additional star because our waitress wasn't very accommodating--and didn't know menu items they were sold out of ahead of time--and she wasn't good about checking on our table at all. We had to ask for waters almost every time we needed a refill which was often as we were a table of four. Also, the restaurant itself seemed to have no heating on which was jarring for the snowy, winter day that we arrived during. I wouldn't hate going back but wouldn't try to either. read more

Everything from the appetizer, salad and main course was delicious and the prices were reasonable.

Great restaurant! We have Never had a disappointing meal! Hidden gem in downtown Bloomsburg!

We love Rose Marie's. The food is consistently delicious. The restaurant is conveniently located near the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble so we regularly eat here before going to a show. Be sure to get reservations in advance since it can be difficult on the weekends to just walk in. My go to favorite is the gnocchi with pesto. My partner loves their seafood wrap. Their salads are amazing and do not skip their bread and olive oil. We also adore their bacon wrapped dates. And if your a pizza fan they have great wood fired oven pizzas. read more

Wonderful place to eat Service was top notch . And a wonderful selection of appetizers and entrees

Stumbled upon this place after the monsoon Central PA was experiencing cancelled our plans for a day at Knoebels. Eight of us (4 adults and 4 kids) waded in around 7 PM on a Monday to a largely empty restaurant, only two other tables were occupied along with a few people sitting at the bar. The server quickly pushed together a few tables for us and had us seated. First surprise was the menu. It was definitely extensive, about 10 pages, and that didn't include the respectable wine list or anything from the bar. It ran the gamut from pizzas and sandwiches to traditional Italian dishes. There were also separate kids menus with six or seven choices. All the kids went with bowtie pasta, three of them asked for light butter and the last with traditional tomato sauce. Serving size was respectable for kids meals, as was the flavor. All four adults ordered entrees which came with either soup or salad. I went with the Cesar salad, and it was a mistake. There wasn't anything wrong with it, to the contrary it was rather good, it's just that the other options were SO much better. One member of the party got a delicious vegetable crab soup, but the star of the first course were the house salads, which were absolutely wonderful. Flatbread garlic bread came out along with the first course, and it was interesting. It drew mixed reviews, with two of the adults raving over it and two disappointed. Entrees were the Gnocchi Ala Genovese, Seafood Lasagna, Linguini with Meatballs and Chicken Florentine Cannelloni. Both the gnocchi & linguini were quite good. The sauce was nicely seasoned and full of fresh tomato, exactly what you'd expect to find from a solid Italian eatery. The seafood lasagna was delicious, with a surprising amount of seafood for the $20 price tag. The blue ribbon dish of the evening was the cannelloni, or the "Italian Burrito" as my wife calls it. It was dense and packed with a delicious filling of grilled chicken, bacon, spinach and ricotta cheese, then topped with cheese and a cream sauce and baked. I felt like I needed to take a precautionary Lipitor just from tasting it, but great googly moogly it was good. Total price for our party came out to under $160, and all of the adults had an alcoholic drink, so to say that prices are reasonable is an understatement. Rosa Marie's is a legitimate, old-school red-sauce Italian joint. It would hold its own in my area that is chock full of similar places. In the Bloomsburg area, it is far and away the best Italian food I've had. read more

What an adorable and quaint restaurant! I was visiting Danville for work and came to Rose Marie's for dinner with my coworkers. I love that there is a large variety of dishes to choose from at Rose Marie's. I ordered the Marsala W/ Chicken, which came with a side of risotto and their vegetable of the day - yellow squash ($19). Overall, the dish was delicious, however I thought the chicken was slightly dry. I may be biased though, since I love dark meat. The Marsala wine sauce was on the saltier side as well, although I think Marsala wine sauce tends to be made this way. The risotto was also a little different from what I anticipated since the rice did not taste like Arborio rice. Service and ambiance was excellent. Would love to come back to try other dishes the next time I am in town! read more

A super solid Italian dining experience in Bloomsburg. Fuggit 'bout the Oh-Gee over by Wally World and drive the extra two miles to Rose Marie's for something that is actually authentic and memorable. Rose Marie's is a bit tiny but this also gives it a romantic feel, even at lunch time. The entrance is off of Main St, down an alley way if you were walking from there so it can be a little tough to find and it upsets me that the location isn't front and center for all of the main drag of Bloom to see. There is ample parking in the back, .25 per hour at the meters in the day time and completely free at night. I have been here for lunch, dinner and a late night dessert. For lunch on my most recent visit, they were a bit understaffed. One woman was working both the bar and the restaurant area and she seemed a little overwhelmed. The pace of the meal wasn't the best but she was working hard, it took a little longer than I expected at certain points like getting the check. Parts of the meal were solid and others needed some minor work. We had visited with the owner at another location where our wedding will be held and got the Rose Marie's salad because that is what we will be serving on our big day. Great choice! Although a bit heavy on the radicchio for my liking, the artichokes and I believe hearts of palm were a nice touch. The vinagrette balanced out the remaining salad including the balls of mozzarella and fresh tomatoes. While the concept of fried shrimp and buffalo sauce on a pizza sounds good in theory, the fried shrimp on my pizza ended up a bit burnt. I don't know how you could pull this off better, maybe under fry them or something? It wasn't enough to make me not enjoy it but I do wish it was executed a little better. My other half said although her salmon burger was huge, it lacked flavor from other ingredients so it was awfully fishy. Even so, both of our meals were enjoyable and we scarfed the leftovers down on a six hour trek back to Boston. I was bummed there was no "lunch menu". The prices were fairly high if you didn't want a pizza or sammich. How about a half sized order of seafood fra diavolo for maybe $13 instead of $26? Really, the "problems" I mentioned were minor and I am excited to return often when I'm home visiting family. R read more

My boyfriend and I were very excited to try this place for dinner one night. When we arrived the place from the outside looked very old and worn down. It was freezing in the inside and the service was not good. The waiter did not check in with us at all. The Caesar salad and bread was good. However, the entrees were horrendous. I got the linguine and meatballs and it was basically a bowel of Ragu sauce. My boyfriend got chicken parmesan and the chicken was VERY dry. I don't recommend going here...Olive Garden is better than this place. read more

Enjoyed our dinner so much we're returning, a month late. Good Italian food. Waitress was great.

Really enjoyed the place. We took my Mom for her birthday. The sandwiches are unique and delicious. I chose the Ham and Brie sandwich. My niece had the Italian. My Sister chose the chicken salad and my Mom had the steak and cheese calzone. All were delicious! We also had dessert. The selection was limited, but we still found something. A little pricey, but the atmosphere is very nice. Will definitely visit here again. read more

We were lost and trying to go to Cracker Barrel. Lucky for us, we stumbled onto this place. Literally a great fancy Italian restaurant that I wanted to do in NY. But got the opportunity here in PA. The crab cake was seasoned and breaded to our taste in a bed of lettuce that we actually nibbled on as the flavor of the crab cake sipped through. Calamari was light in color and first impression, not cooked. It actually melted in your mouth. Great taste. Their bread basket, it's like pizza crust seasoned in garlic/parsley seasoning and cut into bite size. Wow. Definitely will try at home. Hubby wanted to drink since he was back seat passenger. He had their Amaretto sour and inhaled it. He ended up chasing it down with Long Island Iced tea. He said it was the best he's had. East Coast, you are definitely making an impression on this West Coast Native. Hubby ordered 2 of this... This was intentional, ensuring that after this carb load feast that he would just sleep on the Rose My daughter ordered the shrimp scampi pizza. Note this was baked in brick oven. Best way to make Italian Pizza. They raved about the thin crust loaded with scampi shrimp. My sister said it was the cheese. I ordered Rose Marie's Pappardelle. Not really a steak pasta person but this was wonderful. My Hubby doesn't deviate from his Italian palate, he ordered his chicken Marsala with risotto and broccoli. He's challenge to eat and sleep was complete. He practically licked his plate clean. This is a MUST to go to especially if you love here. Buon Appetito!!! read more

This amazing restaurant was recommended by a local and oh my are we glad we took his recommendation! We live a little over an hour away and we were headed home on 80, looking for a non - chain restaurant for dinner not too far from the interstate. We stopped at one place and it turns out they no longer served dinner but we asked the gentleman there what he would recommend locally. Without hesitation he said you have to try Rose Marie's. Fortunately he warned us that it's a little hard to find, it is hidden behind the main street in Bloomsburg. But finding this restaurant was the only difficult thing. We were welcomed warmly, shown to a table, and enjoyed really excellent service the whole way. They had a peach sangria special which both my wife and I tried which was quite good, and the winning recipes just kept on coming. Our waitress was knowledgeable and gave us her opinion when we asked her recommendations on this over that. Their house salads are terrific.... forget about iceberg lettuce on a plate. They have heart of palm and artichoke hearts as well as fresh mozzarella. Along with some delicious right out of the oven flatbreads, our meals were off to a great start. For entrees... . I had seafood francaise which had a handful of large shrimp and lump crab with pasta; my wife had the sausage, peppers, and onions with a spicy tomato sauce and yes, pasta. We were so full from dinner that we simply couldn't manage to get dessert but next time, definitely next time! Dinner for both of us even with drinks and 20+% tip was well under a hundred bucks. If you are driving on 80 through the middle of Pennsylvania, or live anywhere near Bloomsburg, Rose Marie's is a must! read more

I've returned here 3 times since my last review, and I need to express how great this place is to dine. It is family owned and has remained the family for at least a decade. Rose Marie is very pleasant to speak with and a real Italian too. I have no compliants except that food is wonderful, the servers are pleasant, and the prices are reasonable. Parking is meter parking only, however in Bloomsburg do you not have to pay on weekends (at least not on Sundays). Call to make reservations as tables can fill up quickly. read more

After a long day at Knoebels and not wanting to get dinner there, the family and I checked out Yelp for some close-by dinner spots. We found one that looked promising, but they closed at 8:30PM and we'd never make it. Wife found Rose Marie's and this was an absolute home run for a perfect dinner night out. We had a couple of tense thoughts because their address is deceiving and we had to call to find out what's up. You have to turn on Miller St. and it's just down the block with a metered parking lot right there. We got there about 8:45PM without a reservation and was told that they were pretty booked but if we squeezed our 5 into a 4, they could accommodate. We took the table. The pita-like bread with herbs was very tasty and with the olive oil on the table made it even better. That went fast and we asked for another which was given and fresh-made so it was even steaming when it came. I started with a fig, walnut, goat cheese, and onion with greens salad with honey balsamic dressing and it was huge for the $11 charge. It was so good. Wife had a great Caesar salad. For main courses, I had veal parm, wife had chicken parm, kids had spaghetti with sauce, and grandpa had a "small" calzone. Everything was perfect with nothing overdone, the sauces were so good, and portions were huge. Everyone had half to take home for lunch the next day. With my glass of wine and one beer, I was feeling great and so happy that we came across Rose Marie's. You absolutely want to come here for Italian food. $92 not including tip for 5 for dinner. Service was outstanding. read more
