I contacted the man in charge of the project (who did not stay to oversee the work) my complaint about the unfinished work. He was unprofessional and combative. I JUST had 4 bushes and a tree removed. I called Wednesday. Someone stopped by Saturday to take a look, called that day with an estimate. We set Thursday between 8-9 they arrived at 8. 3 guys started. Within 20 min bushes where down and shredded. The tree came down in another 15 min. 2 more guys arrived with the grinding equipment. Cleanup and shredding happened while they ground the stumps (making replanting possible). They where done completely in 1.5hrs -- friendly, efficient, courteous and really affordable. read more

I had a very negative experience with Lyons Tree Service in Darian. Last October, 2021, I hired them to take down some dead and dying trees on my property and paid them $2500 for the service. I should have been more aware of some initial red flags such as not marking or identifying the trees to be cut down and no paper work or receipt connected to the job. After they left I noticed that the crew had cut down two large trees but didn't remove the cut up logs which were lying were the trees fell. I contacted Marco and he texted me back saying he would send some guys out in a day or two. After no follow up and numerous promises from my texts over the 7 months the logs were still sitting, waiting to be removed. I lost faith in Marco because of his empty promises and was tired of looking at a bunch of logs in my yard that I had no option but to hire a landscape company at my expense to remove the many logs. It was a very frustrating experience dealing with a company and employees who didn't stand behind their reputation and continually gave empty promises. I would not recommend Lyons Tree Service to anyone. There are so many ethical tree companies in the area that do the work they're hired to do. Called this company to remove a tree from my grandfather backyard after a bad storm on February 20th. The tree fell onto the electrical lines and Comed removed the part of the tree that was dangerous, then we called the Lyons tree service. They promptly came to my family's yard in Berwyn. They safely removed the tree and told us they would be back for the stump later in the week when the ground was dry. We were charged $700 for the removal which took 10 mins. It is now April 27th and someone from our family talked with a man from the company at least 5 times in the past month saying that would come to remove this stump. They never showed up to remove this stump from the backyard and will not return our calls. This company is very unprofessional. My grandfather is a senior and can not pay someone else to remove this stump. Please do not use this business!!! read more

I almost never write reviews. I'm making an exception because I was so pleased with this company. We needed to get a large silver maple down in preparation for the construction of a new garage. I called or contacted four different tree services. One, Haney and Sons' was unhelpful. They said it would take 4-6 weeks before they could get to it. Davis Tree Service said it would take 5-7 days just to get an estimate. Brookfield Tree Service was willing to do it but after the initial contact, it was very hard to get in touch with the main guy (Peter). Marko with Lyons Tree Service came over soon after I called, gave me an estimate, said to let him know once the old garage was down so they could better access the tree. Once the old garage was down they came within two days. They trimmed a few other overgrown trees while they were here for a modest additional amount. They cleaned up thoroughly. We had the company remove a large tree from our yard in October 2016, and paid in full. Payment price included stump removal - the crew could not complete that the same day as the tree removal and promised to come back promptly to remove the stump. We have been calling for 6 months now - occasionally, we are able to speak with Marco, who has made multiple promises to come out and remove the stump, but continues to fail to do so. Looking at these reviews and at the BBB, it seems like this is something that he has done before. DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY. We have been more than reasonable in our attempts to resolve this matter, but they have been completely unprofessional and we still have a large stump in our yard. read more

My parkway tree was removed by Lyons Tree Service. I didn't have to pay for the removal -- the City of Berwyn did. These men are obviously very experienced in tree removal and very conscientious. Not only did they remove a 50 foot tree (I think - might have been taller) in a very short period of time, they cleaned up all the assorted debris that goes with a tree removal. Chipped most of the branches (filled two fairly large trucks) and came back a couple of days later to take the big trunks away. Returned yet the next day to remove the stump. Spread the material from the stump as a mulch, leaving the area treeless, but looking really nice. Couldn't have asked for more. If I ever need to hire a tree removal service, this will be the company (helps that they're local as well). read more

Berwyn contracts with Lyons to trim trees. A neighbor called and asked that the tree next door to mine be trimmed. So Lyons Tree Service came out and trimmed my, yes my tree to a height of approximately 20 feet. They scalped it. Maybe it will die since they removed over half the foliage. An online site says a mature tree should not have over 1/4 of the foliage removed. I believe they did a horrible job. Neighbors are commiserating with me over the trimming job. I used to have a beautiful tree. I feel it has been massacred. Several neighbors will attend the next city council meetings to complain. Will this company pay for my higher electric bill to cool my house without the shade? I feel like I have lost a family member after almost 40 years. Yes, they did trim the tree next door. I tried to keep them from ruining my tree, but they kept right on going. All the stories they and their office gave me were bull. read more
