Recreation feels like an arcade, with table games and a basketball court, which adds to the atmosphere. I thought it was really cool to chat and play games while having brunch and a few drinks. The brunch menu prices are pretty reasonable. I came for brunch and would definitely return to try the dinner menu. The only thing I would suggest is perhaps adding a dessert to the menu for someone who likes to celebrate occasions with something sweet.

The weight room is decent with most of the standard machines - chest press, bicep curl, leg press, cable fly, crunch machine, lat pulldown, etc. The weight room is lacking a power rack or squat rack which is huge. Not ideal for people who are serious into lifting. However, there is a flat bench press. The heaviest dumbbell set went up to 60 lbs (for some reason, there is a lone 65 lbs dumbbell) which is an improvement from the Ocean Breeze Rec Center (pair of 50 lbs dumbbell heaviest). The weight room is a bit uncomfortably warm during winter when I went here often two years ago. However, the cardio room felt like the perfect temperature to do cardio in - if I remember correctly, the windows were normally opened, and the cardio equipment were generally OK. The treadmills were fine, but the ellipticals and stationary bikes felt lower quality (not much resistance on them). The second floor of this rec center was interesting - there is a room for ping pong, another room for gaming (board games and XBox), and another room with computers. I saw some college-age looking students working in the computer rooms when I went. Overall, a pretty decent facility if you are into general fitness/health.

Its a nice park area large enough to accommodate the thousands of runners at these races along with event staff and volunteers. Other than races the grounds are a great area for a picnic, take in a walk, get in some terrific views of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, and explore the old military structures. The National Parks Service does a terrific job maintaining the grounds.

As you can imagine it was ORGANIZED CHAOS, with so many athletes competing the officials kept everything running like a well oiled machine from registering the athletes for their respective events to the actual events taking place. So many different events taking place it easy to zoom in on one particular event you may enjoy. I was amazed by my grandson's events but found myself watching the pole vaulting events. These kids flying over the bars with such grace, I know I'm watching some Olympic athletes in the making. All in all the USA won't have to worry about lack of Any Olympic hopeful in the future.

If you are there for a gym membership, it's closed to you Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from December through March. Even when it's open to you, expect a lot of broken machines. No one on staff actually does repairs. Only 1 of the 3 elliptical machines is fully functional. Many of the exercise bikes don't work. Many of the treadmills are very old or don't work. Have heard that the machines were 2nd hand to begin with. Now imagine them with no maintenance. The staff doesn't reinforce proper workout clothes so expect to see many senior citizens in jeans and flannel shirts. Also, only a small fraction of the gym members actually clean off the machines when they are done. Parking is abused. At 6:50am, many spots are already taken up in the parking lot while it's relatively empty inside. Highlights of the parking lot is the random guy who uses its acoustics to play his trumpet.

The park offers a pleasant walk during the Fall and Spring months with a beautiful bridge located at its center. During the Fall, you can see a variety of foliages and during the spring, you can see the Cherry Blossoms. Would recommend anyone to take a walk through this peaceful park to reset their minds, get good air, and enjoy the nature. 10/10

Just while searching for beaches in a 30 minute driving radius, we ran into this gem of a park that's so well maintained. They have ample free parking and the walk to the bay is so quick. The bay might not be the best to walk on as sand is relatively less with more gravels and getting down to it from the stairs is little difficult even for well grown adults. This could definitely be wheelchair accessible in a certain way. They also have few picnic enclosures and a memorial to one of their town's fallen soldiers. The walking pavement is neatly laid out for a calm, peaceful and relaxing walk. We went on overcast conditions and had to return to the car just before the rain caught up. Will definitely return here for summers to watch the sunset in this beautiful bay/park.

Competitive swimming pool open daily free of charge to all. When was the last time you had a nice swim for as long as you wanted for free? Like try never! Pool is clean, yes slightly dated but so well maintained. Went there today from 11am to 12, guess how many people there were on all 6 lanes? 4people! By the time i was done: there were 2 left. Yes, location sucks and really this is for people from Newark, Harrison and perhaps Karney to enjoy. Showers are dated and not all work; bring your own hair dryer. But all that doesn't bother me since i can just go home and be there in 5min. Also excellent for kids since they do have baby and toddler depths available. They plan to close it for 15 days renovation but will reopen in Nov. Also i am looking forward to their ice rink hours. Will be available later in fall. Again kids classes avaible for free (from what i hear). All in all i am impressed and will come back!
