I am totally disappointed in the results of the aftercare that was given to my daughter when her conventional braces were removed. They placed a 'permanent retainer' along the bottom of her front teeth. The 'permanent retainer' broke within the first week; the office replaced it no problem. The second 'permanent retainer' broke within two weeks. During a recent office visit, I was informed that the bottom teeth moved slightly. They explained the only way to fix this is to have a customized 'Molly' retainer made with no guarantee that the bottom teeth would straightened out; or to have a reset using Invisalign with a cost of $2000. I expected the Lyons team to be accountable for their poor workmanship when designing the 'permanent retainer' since it is such an important part of the final alignment process. Quality design of a permanent retainer is essential in the aftercare of braces, I would expect them to know that. read more

I came in with a horrible smile. I had to get an expander and then started my braces treatment. They took off my tongue cradle too early per my mothers request even though I was having no issues with it and it definitely should have stayed in longer. Spikes didnt work either. My smile was not super pretty when I got my braces off. And when they told me I only had to wear my retainer at night my teeth went straight back. I came back in and started invisalign but it wasnt for me and switched back to braces. I was enlisting in the army and was told via my sgt that I had to get them taken off before basic training. They said I could get them back on afterwards. But then refused to do so. Now my family has paid several thousand dollars for braces that made my smile just as ugly as it was when I started. I was treated very poorly by staff on numerous occasions and they allowed my parents ugly divorce to determine whether or not I would be allowed to be a patient again in the future. My parents divorce has nothing to do with me. I would never recommend or trust their judgment. I still have an ugly smile and can't afford braces again. Thanks for nothing but pain dr lyons. Oh and they yelled at me in front of patients for no reason too. Was extremely unprofessional when I was just a kid coming in. read more

I have not even committed to this office yet but just having to get appointments scheduled is a headache. Starting to question if this is worth moving forward. Considering the fact i am paying $6000 for my daughter's braces, i expect to be treated better. Left multiple VM; no one answers the phone during the day; ended up in phone tag. Sent a few messages online, still no calls or appointments. When i finally was able to get someone on the phone, they were not very accommodating and understanding of my schedule and the appointments i needed. In 2010, I was originally planning on starting orthodontia treatment with an orthodontist who had a satellite branch fairly close to me. I literally had my first appointment scheduled and had planned out how I was going to pay for my seven thousand dollar treatment (Which wasn't going to be easy. They wanted half down and then payments on the rest). Then, on a visit to my parents' house in Cameron Park, my mother handed me a brochure for Lyons Orthodontics and told me she found it in her mail box and she knew I'd been shopping around for braces so she thought I should check it out because the brochure included a $500 summer savings coupon. At first, I was hesitant because I already had my treatment scheduled and planned out. But the coupon was attractive and so was the brochure to be honest. It was bright and colorful and had lots of information about the practice in general and seemed very inviting. A few days later, my mother went with me to a free consultation at Lyons Orthodontics. That was the first plus because my consultation with the other orthodontist cost me $30. I was very interested in seeing what they had to offer as soon as I walked in the lobby of Lyons Orthodontics. This practice has one of the most friendly, beautiful, & Artistically decorated lobbies of any medical practice I've ever been to. It was sparkling clean with a jungle theme with all kinds of exotic wildlife painted and posed everywhere, including elephants, giraffes, and of course, lions! At the time I was working with exotic carnivores like tigers and lions and I absolutely love them so the lobby was my cup of tea! After taking in the amazing lobby setup, the second thing I noticed was how inviting and friendly the front counter staff was. The term "bubbly" doesn't even begin to describe these women. It is very apparent that they love their jobs and are treated well as employees and they radiate their happiness onto you. They greeted me excitedly and enthusiastically and told me the doctor would be right with me. It wasn't one of those ridiculously long waits by doctors who over-schedule their appointments either, it really was a quick few minutes & I had their undivided attention. After meeting with Dr. Lyons and discussing why I was seeking treatment and what I was hoping to get from my treatment, I felt like he was genuinely interested in fixing what I believed to be my biggest physical flaw: my teeth. He was so empathetic to my self consciousness and I could tell he wanted to make it better for me. I had a horrible overbite that was always embarrassing for me all through middle school and high school to the point where I would avoid smiling if I could. Especially where photos were concerned. My teeth made me hate nearly every photo taken of me because of how bad I felt they looked. Dr. Lyons and his team wanted to help me. After looking at photographs of my teeth that they took, they described exactly what they could do to fix my major concerns. I felt so much more at home at this consultation than I did at the other one. But when Dr. Lyons started talking from a financial standpoint, that's what really got me to change my mind. What I would have paid over $7,000 for at the other orthodontist, Dr. Lyons offered me the same treatment for nearly $2000 less! Moreover, he didn't ask for a down payment of any kind. It was simply, sign up, make your first payment, and that's it. No tricks, no hidden fees or costs, no gimmicks, just an easy, consistent payment on the first of every month. My estimated payment was only $219 which was very doable. You don't have to pay a dime at your appointments. Needless to say, I was sold. I called my other orthodontist, and canceled my appointment. I scheduled my records appointment with Lyons Orthodontics and became a patient. It has been two years since my braces went on. They are scheduled to come off in about a month and a half and the results I got for my money are truly amazing. Not to mention, the friendliness of the staff during my journey never faltered. EVERY time you go there, you leave in a great mood because of how amazing and friendly everyone is to you. I had half of my appointments at their El Dorado Hills location and then transferred to their Fair Oaks location once I moved. Both lobbies had the same theme and were absolutely stunning, with the same friendly service. The Fair Oaks office even has massage chairs to sit in while you wait to go back for your appointment. It's been a long journey during my treatment, & Lyons orthodontics made it as comfortable as possible, always making sure I had enough supplies on me to last between appointments, including the wax to make sure my cheeks didn't get sores from the bracket irritation. I came here for a consultation after a friend recommended it and I am so glad I checked this place out. You walk in and feel transported to a safari as that is the theme of this office. The front desk staff are really nice and while waiting for the doctor you can sit in a massage chair and take advantage of that. Those with kids, there is separate play area to keep them occupied. My point of contact here has been Nancy and she is so easy to talk to, answers all your questions and has so much energy and always seems to be in good spirits. Good orthodontics. They are really professional. I know someone close to me that went here and he is happy with his smile. He asked me to post this since he doesn't have a yelp. The reason for the 3 start rating is they sadly don't take delta care USA insurance like other orthodontics around here. There is 2 that I can name off in the Sacramento area that have 5 star ratings and are well known orthodontists. They both take the insurance and they both also have deals for cheaper orthodontics and cheaper monthly payments. Some people want braces but can't afford to make a $5000 commitment. The insurance would cut your portion of the price down a lot more but sadly they don't take it read more

Dr. Lyons and his staff are the best. A few years ago, my daughter was referred for ortho treatment by her general dentist. After going to 2 other offices, I chose Dr. Lyons. The other two offices wanted to do pre-treatment for my daughter that would be expensive. When Dr. Lyons examined her, he said it wasn't necessary and she could resolve the issue that needed fixing naturally. Anyways, we waited til it was time to get the braces went back to Dr. Lyons. His costs were cool and well worth it. His staff are super nice, the office is super clean(including the bathroom), and his office looks amazing. They have video games for the kids, massage chairs, and tv. They even make awesome cookies and coffee/tea everyday for patients and their families to enjoy, at no cost! I love going to this office. They are very knowledgeable about their jobs, my daughter's teeth are looking awesome, her treatement has gone by fast, they get us in quickly when there are issues that need to be fixed inbetween appointements, and they have an awesome payment plan.
