As I am reading through these other reviews, it makes me wonder if there isn't some type of bad review sabotage going on. I have heard that happens so hopefully my honest review can help others fairly evaluate this business. Since my last review in 2022, I have gotten 4 implants at Pebble Beach Dental. All the work to achieve this was completed by Dr. Erickson. I am a private pay customer, and I have appreciated the payment option provided by Pebble Beach Dental. I just returned home from my bi-annual cleaning, and my oral health is good and stable. I have had bridges removed as the anchor teeth failed and after a time of healing two implants on either side of mouth have been placed. The ability to eat and chew without pain has vastly improved my quality of life. I am really surprised by the negative statement made about the office manager, Stephanie. We have met and spoken both casually and around business over the last 4 years and never have I experienced anything remotely as is being said in these reviews. She is neither petty, dismissive or unprofessional to me nor have I seen her be that with other patients. One would think that if that were her behavior, I would have experienced it as well in this length of time. Something I believe strongly is that no one can make me feel anything. Depending on my perspective and my own state of mind is how I will receive and reaction to any given situation. Please do not these negative reviews prevent you from seeking care at this business as it is at the top of the scale in terms of ability, character, and quality. read more

While I appreciate the clinical care provided by the dental staff, my experience with the office manager Stephanie, has been very disappointing. After reading other reviews, I realize I am not alone in these concerns. When I raised questions regarding my treatment and scheduling, I felt that my concerns were dismissed rather than addressed. The office manager's communication felt very mean and unprofessional; rather than listening to the patient's perspective, she seemed more focused on defending the practice and the lack of time for appointments. I was provided with inconsistent information, which left me feeling frustrated and misled. Instead of working toward a collaborative solution, I felt pressured and unheard. Patients deserve to be treated with respect, honesty, and empathy. I have had the pleasure of being a patient with Pebble Beach Dental. Dr. Atherly and staff are amazing and caring! I had interviewed several Dentist before deciding to have a whole mouth Re-do. I chose Pebble Beach Dental, my travel time to get to their office is 1.5 hours and well worth it. I am so happy with the results. Stephanie(Office manager) is very thorough with any billing questions regarding Care Credit. She will explain as many times as she needs to help you understand the process and is very attentive to your needs. I enjoy all the staff members as well. Wow, had to knock this down to a 1 star now. The office posted an employee spotlight on Stephanie on Facebook, after I shared my honest opinion in response to the post, the office blocked me. What a way to be petty , dismissive and very unprofessional! A dental practice should value all patient feedback, even when it isn't positive, and take it as an opportunity to improve rather than shut down the conversation. No-one here seems to be trained in even the basics of how to make patients feel at ease with their procedure. Despite being asked I was not warned before being pocked with a needle and jerked as a result. Staff came in and out of the room I was in to ask the doctor questions and distract while he was working on a filling. The assistant named Sam had shaky hands, at one point dropped an instrument on me, messed up with another piece of equipment that the doctor had to redo. I understand if you are new, but she also didn't give me care instructions or have any people skills either. The end result ended up a seemingly rushed filling that I now have trouble flossing between. Doctor left quickly and I had no time to say anything. Staff seemed tired and I heard many rumbling stomachs. I don't know who runs this clinic but please take care of your workers better and train them in basic bedside manner. read more

Just had my replaced. They did a wonderful job. Only one day after and it feels perfect.

A fear of dentists and not having dental insurance kept me out of a dentist's chair for too long. An ad explaining the Pebble Beach dental plan they offer for $169 reeled me in to have some much needed work done. I've been a patient for about 7 months. I've had exrays and my teeth cleaned twice under the plan, and received discounts on the work I've had done. The dentist and staff have been great about planning and prioritizing a course of treatment for me so I know what needs done and how much it will cost. I've been able to budget and pay as I go. The Pebble Beach dental plan got me to give them a try, but the dentist's gentle manner and the staff's pleasant nature keeps me going back. I really appreciate them! Its so hard to find a good dentist, I had a good one for years and had to switch (due to insurance) and then had to switch again (due to insurance again) so I picked this office kind of at random and this time my picker worked great! My husband is getting a ton of work done and was, honestly, not a fan of dentists. He hadnt gone in many years so Dr Atherly and his staff knew they had a tough customer before he even got there. I had got in for an emergency filling last year and have never left. They are truly amazing. The whole staff makes you feel welcomed, appreciated, and apart of their own. I hated going to the dentist. Probably went once in 7 years prior to last year. Now I go twice a year and work with the same assigned dental hygienist, Kimberly. Who is such a joy! The front desk, Shana, is always so wonderful, nice, and accommodating. And the dentist is always cordial and welcoming. I love going to the dentist's office and would get my teeth cleaned every month if my insurance and schedule allowed it. Nothing better than knowing my mouth is healthy and the clean feeling can't be beat. Unlike many reviewers I don't have a fear of dentists and the sounds of their equipment doesn't bother me in the least. My problem for years has been finding a Dr. and team who I actually trust. When I approach them with a problem or concern I am given options for treatment and that treatment only. No more being told I need extensive work to be done that seems irrelevant to the original complaint. I found this office after my previous dentist wasn't able to help me with an implant and suggested I look elsewhere. I contacted Pebble Beach and was so impressed with their professionalism and thorough explanations I left that other dentist behind altogether. What's even better? Unfortunately i have to change my review. I had a tooth removed and He broke the tooth infront of it. He would never admit it. It was horrible pain. He put two implants in for me and come to find out..from an oral surgeon. and a periodontist He put old style posts in and the teeth should of been bonded together because i have an overbite. I had to have one implant removed. It was moving all around with decay in my jaw. Cleaned out and removed by fusion dental implants in roseville, oral surgeon, who was amazing by the way!!! I mentioned at least three times to dr atherly that my gum had a white spot and didnt look right and He wrote it off and said it was fine. All out of pocket!!! and 8000$ later i have one implant and my jaw is not strong enough for the other at 41 years old!!! So i have a hole and have to decide if i want the other implamt removed and i get a bridge. Ive also had a crown replaced because the one he put onndidnt fit well. read more

I have to agree with the previous reviews by Cheryl H. and Ashley H, this office is money driven and can be pushy. The staff and the doctor are nice and have been courteous on many occasions but we also think that there is an ethos of money first that other former customers have noted as well. One: A family member scheduled antibiotic shots at the end of an appointment. On this occasion and others they do not explain procedures very well--especially the pricing! Our family member had one round of the shots done, and once the bill came in, was no longer interested in the second round, and declined to move forward. We got multiple phone calls, trying to pressure and make the treatment sound like an extremely important matter. They acted so concerned for the health of her teeth. (This, by the way, was an cosmetic treatment) Finally, we put our foot down and said we weren't interested. All of a sudden all that concern for her teeth evaporated--once they realized no more money was on the way. Basically, when you tell them you won't be needing a pricey add-on service they first apply the high-pressure sales technique, then once you make it clear that you aren't interested they drop contact. Two: I showed up in the office for an appointment and they informed me then that I needed to renew for the year to have the cleaning. I thought this was the final appointment before I needed to renew--it had been 6 months since we last spoke and we NEVER received a reminder about this. Who can't send a reminder about the payment being due at the appointment before I was standing in front of them waiting? And while they informed me of this they kept the clock running so then they claimed I was a late cancellation and issued me a $100.00 late fee. Mind you we had to cancel because no-one had given any reminder that the yearly payment was due so we were unprepared. I think they do this because the average person is just going to pay so they can go into their appointment, but it made me not want to renew with them. That is something that you should let remind the client about in advance. Three: They do a teeth whitening session using Opalescence for $200-300+ that you can do buy and do yourself on Amazon or Ebay for like $30.00. Really high markup--I get that the service/experience fee is baked in there as they're a business, but given other instances I see it now as an example of their money first ethos. read more

Not only is Dr. Atherly a really talented and excellent dentist, the team is exceptional, too: Kathy, Sharon, Stephanie, Ashley, all are very friendly, professional and best of all to a scaredy-cat like me... My family moved to the area just over a year ago and I'm so glad we found Pebble Beach Dental and Dr Atherly. The staff has been pleasant and professional and did a great job explaining to us, as new patients, how they manage their office. We've always had morning appointments and have never had to wait more than a few minutes to get in. I've only had one procedure other than a cleaning, but Dr Atherly was very patient in responding to my questions and did a great job in helping me understand my options which was very much appreciated. This place is awesome! From the start they made me feel comfortable! I won't lie. The dentist office is truly the worst place in the world to me. Or at least it was. I went in two the office first with the side of my face swollen. Seriously looked like I had a golf ball on the side of my cheek. They got me in last minute and got me what I needed. Next was the bad part. Yep I needed some teeth pulled. Oh great perfect! I had a week and a half to get myself all worked up. But to my still disbelief I felt no real pain! Just one or twice a lil pinch of pain but the minute I signaled discomfort Dr Atherly would give me a shot to fix it. He and his team are awesome.
