BOTTOM LINE: A fantastic place to watch birds and meet bird nerds! Bring your binoculars! :)
Before we get to the good part, let's get this out of the way: the parking lot is TINY AF so get ready to wait. I saw some people use the lowered curbing by the washroom to drive over to park on the grass, so I suppose that's an option. $6 for whole-day parking but for the most part, people were generally passing their ticket along to the next person parking.
But once you've parked, it's easy enough to spend an hour or two here. There are lots of trails that I'd recommend you look at with Google Maps instead of the park map. Definitely try to make your way South towards the lake and take a detour to the lookout by the marsh. It's not really hidden per se, but it's also not something you'd stumble upon if you follow the normal paths.
At the marsh, you're given a gorgeous panorama of the marsh and all the wildlife there. There are tons of birds you can see from your usual ducks and geese, to your blue jays and blue herons, to your wild turkeys, and some other rarer birds that the bird watches tried to explain to me. Also, did I mention this place is a chickadee hub? Definitely bring some bird feed! read more
