They seem like nice folks, but when my projector came back noisier than when I left it with them, I called and left messages because they seldom seem to be available. After finally having my projector blow up, probably due to their poor fan replacement, which cost me $250, which was shocking to begin with, they now want me to pay an additional $75 just to inspect their own failure. When I received my laptop back from Lynchburg Computer Systems, after they worked on it for six weeks, it was more functional than when I dropped it off with water damage, but it was not "working fine" as they have since told me it was. Within 24 hours of picking up my laptop, I spent hours on the phone with AppleCare removing a beta software from two operating systems ago. As soon as that was completed, I realized that the laptop did not connect to the internet properly and spent another two hours on the phone with AppleCare. A cross-country move later, Apple Genius Bar told me the WiFi cables inside my laptop had never been properly reconnected, which they then did for me in addition to standard operating checks, which the computer failed. I didn't have time for further repairs as I started graduate school the next day. The computer is still far from functioning well and I now have to pay Apple to redo the job that LCS didn't complete. I've been extremely disappointed in the customer service response from this company and would recommend it to no one. read more

I had an issue with my 2012 MacBook Air, they diagnosed it as a screen cable issue. I contacted Apple and they approved the repair at no cost to me. LCS fixed it promptly and hd me pick it up a few days after the repair was approved. They were nice and attentive to my repair and fixed it right the first time ! read more

So a bit premature but I really feel like I need to review before I even get my laptop back and we will see how their actual work goes. Takes about a week for them to even look at what you give them then they make promises that they don't keep. Told me Thursday they would have it ready to be picked up that night. Told them I couldn't do Thursday night because of plans but could pick it up Friday. When I called Friday apparently they still didn't fix it and said they would call me in a few hours to pick it up. Wait a few hours still no call so I try to call and no-one answers. I understand fixing a PC is not easy. But if you say you are going to do something you should do it! Its like lying to pull someone along. I have to wait till after the weekend now because they are closed Saturday and Sunday. read more

BAD SERVICE. TOOK FOREVER. LOANER LAPTOPS BROKE. I was told my laptop would be fixed within 1-2 weeks, but it ended up taking over a month. In fact, it took 2 weeks for them to even look at my laptop. I am a college student and needed a loaner laptop but the loaner stopped working after a couple days. I took it back to get another loaner and that one stopped working as well. I would not recommend Lynchburg Computer Systems to anyone. read more

I have the knowledge to handle many small repairs or things such as memory upgrades myself. But it's more affordable for me to have everything handled here. These folks know computers and they stand behind their work. I've had a hard drive replaced, brought the machine home, reconnected my cloud drive and been fully up to speed in 90 minutes. Yes, like other reviews state, they ask for a diagnostic fee up front that is applied to the cost of any repairs. This is to protect themselves from people who would get the recommendation and decide against the repairs, either because it's not worth it, or they feel they can do it themselves. The business has to cover the cost of the time and knowledge of the technician to make the diagnosis and research the cost of parts and labor to make the repairs. There's a lot to keep a great resource like this in town and available to us when we need them. Otherwise, we'd just have the GeekSquad and whoever they happen to be able to hire to stand behind the desk. How good are they? Well, that depends. Not so with Lynchburg Computer Systems. They live and work right here. They are committed business people, meaning they care about their reputation. They're not a fly-by-night outfit hopping from one town to the next every time they burn bridges. They use industry best practices. They operate fairly for everyone involved. So please consider the realities of the marketplace from both perspectives as you write a review. And, no, I don't work for them, but I do trust them with all my repairs... and my mom's! read more

Charged me a $45 diagnostic fee, even though I already knew what the problem with my computer was. Didn't follow up by phone or email to let me know when the repair was finished. They did replace the worn-out screws on the bottom of my MacBook at no extra cost, plus it's functional again, but the diagnostic fee is ridiculous and the customer service was subpar. read more

I truly hate writing poor reviews, I think there's usually a solid explanation for everything and my husband and I are pro small businesses, but our experience with LCS was awful. My husband had a short in his screen which would cause it to go black so we took it to LCS. They told us it wouldn't be a problem, my husband gave them permission to order the part and they said it would be fixed in a week. 2 1/2 weeks later we finally get his laptop back after calling for updates and trying to get it fixed. When we get it it looked awful! There is adhesive all along the tops and sides of the screen and the screen isn't even set properly back into the laptop. Also they reset his computer so he was missing all of his old files and pictures (which wasn't an issue prior) we ended up having to take it to Liberty's IT department and luckily someone there was able to get our files back. Also they removed Microsoft word, excel, etc which we had previously been subscribed to. Needless to say we were very disappointed and it was a waste of $150+. read more

So I have my gaming tower that I recently upgraded with a new motherboard, new cpu and ram. I had assembled them properly and was starting up my computer and was having issues even getting the system to boot. I was doing everything I knew and read about and looked on the forums for my MB. I was not getting it to work. I had reservations about taking it to a shop because I believed I could figure out whatever they could but I was wrong and I'm glad I took it to the shop. I did everything right, everything was good but I didn't have the equipment to know that the input/output shield on the back of the tower where the MB is was shorting my computer as well as extra drive power connectors were touching the wall of the tower. They were able to figure this out and get it to boot up. I was so thankful, I was about to start returning parts. When I went to pick it up, they even reattached my CPU fan system and applied thermal paste for me since during the process of figuring out the issue I had to take that all off. I'm not familiar with IT pricing so it's hard to tell about that but the service was good, prompt and effective. read more
