Talk about an upscale experience! Stopped in for Christmas dinner and absolutely fell in love. The ambiance is beautiful, the lighting alone sets the tone. The hostess seated us and she was very welcoming, once our server arrived he let us know about the specials and his recommendations while giving us time to look at the menu. Had weekend brunch here with a group. The inside of the restaurant is spacious and has gorgeous light fixtures. The brunch DJ on the weekend provided good vibes and was not too loud or crazy. It's a good spot for bottomless brunch with friends or dining with a younger group. We visited for dinner during restaurant week on a Thursday. We had to wait at the bar area for about 15 min or so before a table was available, which was pretty cute and comfy--the bar has great space to invite friends to comfortably enjoy drinks, and there is some good bar food options. I didn't bother ordering a drink at that time since I had a pretty empty tummy but my bf did enjoy some tequila on the rocks. The bar team was accommodating, they were mostly prompt and timely with checking in on us. We were seated close to the kitchen, right next to the private dining room. It was a great view of the entire restaurant, but! awfully cold. However given COVID and that establishments should ensure that air is circulating well, I felt some kind of relief. The decor for this place is eye catching, dimmed light setting a nice intimate mood for both friends and hot dates. The service we received was commendable given that there were only two waiters on the clock that day. So, the delays we experienced with our waitress was reasonable and didn't ruin the night. We started off with table bread. The bread was a bit over baked and it wasn't moist but the flavor was there and the butter helped cut through the dryness. For our first course, we ordered the smoked duck croquette and the broccolini. The smoked duck was savory, each warm bite packed a delicious punch. The broccolini wasn't anything special, it was quite firm but the black parm and egg yolk brought the dish to life--we probably wouldn't order again tho. For our second course, we got the fried chicken and the short rib. The fried chicken reminded me of bonchon fried chicken and to my surprise, it was not fried chicken cutlets that a lot of restaurants tend to serve. The chicken was cooked to perfection, absolutely juicy with every bite consisting of sweet and savory flavors. Finger licking good, no exaggeration. The potato salad that accompanied it was a 9/10. A touch of salt and sugar was missing but otherwise it was quite alright for restaurant potato salad. The short rib was a solid dish. I absolutely enjoyed the corn purée probably way more than I did the rib itself, but overall? 10/10. For our last course, we opted for the chocolate tart and cheesecake. We were afraid that the chocolate tart was going to be one of those mousse dishes however we weren't disappointed. It reminded me of a s'mores. Fashioning every bite to include the crust and ice cream? A home run. The cheese cake was not my favorite, it was prettyyyy firm. I was hoping for a more softer texture, creamier if you will. I wouldn't try my hand at this one again. As for my drink, I had the Pomelo Dream. The ingredients reminded me of a mojito so I figured why not? It was a bit more tart than I'd hope for but it was good and refreshing. We absolutely plan to visit again, with many other incredible options available, we absolutely must. read more

Came here for a birthday brunch for my friend. She had a private room booked so we had to order based on her prefix menu, which came with unlimited mimosas and muffins & fruit. I ordered the bodega breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg & cheese and a side of hash browns. The sandwich was really good it had a chipotle mayo sauce on it. The hash browns confused me a little they looked like chicharrones to me lol but turned out to be kind of a thick French fry in a way. The salad paired with it had a salad dressing that tasted too salty for me. I went to Lyle's for the first time for brunch for my birthday this Sunday. It was such a vibe! Everything from the ambiance down to the food and service was amazing. Our server was courteous, professional and kept the bottomless mimosas coming. I had the fried chicken and waffle. The chicken was seasoned well and overall was delicious. I am a stickler for good service. The service at Lyle began before I even arrived for Sunday Brunch. The host, Ishmael was great and so was our server, Deandre. Literally, everything was satisfying. I started with a tequila espresso martini before switching to the bottomless mimosas. I love the variety of juices they offer--the lavender lemon was my favorite. Y'all, the pastries...SO good! We tried all of them and they were all really tasty and arrived to the table WARM. The monkey bread was full of butter . The chocolate banana bread and the lemon poppyseed muffins were my favorite. Service is awful. I mean, really awful. I waited over 15 minutes for anyone to arrive at my table. During this time, servers continued to walk back and forth and even stop by tables next to me, but refuse to stop at my table. The people next to me had to help flag someone down for me. Bottomless mimosas here are pretty good though. They give you carafes of sparkling wine along with mixers of your choice. My favorite mixer was the pear elderflower, it was flavorful and not very sweet. The lavender lemon was okay but not as flavorful as I'd hoped. The sparkling wine was nice and cold though. It was a little pricey though at $28. The food was fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised. I'm still thinking about the vegetable soft scrambled eggs. The ladies at the front desk were all nice, cute and acknowledged all guest in a professional manner. Valet attendants were welcoming, helpful, and full of joy. The hotel overall was clean and comforting. Next time when I stay on the 8th floor I'll make sure to request a room with a view. I didn't get a chance to experience the restaurant or bar area but each time I walked past it seemed like a great atmosphere. Saturday DC Brunch was the theme on this day. The restaurant is located in a hotel and has a swanky vibe as you walk in. Food - (8.5/10) I had the waffles with the added chicken. It was really good, however, the sweetness of the orange marmalade was a bit much though. The chicken was cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection! I enjoyed the meal and the mimosas. The flavors of the mimosas were very good too! Service - (9/10) the hostess was nice in getting us seated but we did have to wait about 20 mins for them to get our table ready which cut into our brunch seating time. The server offered to sub with avocado, which sounded great. However, he made it seem that it would have been a complimentary substitution. Instead when the bill came, there was a $4 upcharge for it. Fabulous restaurant week lunch with co-worker. In the old school $25 price tier this has to be one of the best combinations of quality and value. Had an awesomely fresh burrata appetizer, a solid short rib sandwich, and a tasty cocktail, in a very appealing and spacious venue that stays true to the hotel's European ownership (very much feels like a London boutique hotel , which is where the developer has its roots) . Staff and management were super accommodating and let our bigger group move to a more comfortable table on the couches instead of a more cramped circle table. My group participated in bottomless mimosas and they have a ton of flavors. The lavender and lemon was by far my favorite with the pear elderflower a close runner up. The blood orange wasn't great. The coffee was also pretty good. Food wise I had the tres leches French toast which was a let down. The French toast itself was tasty and perfectly good but it in no way is giving tres leches. I was expecting a much more decadent soaked French toast that is actually similar to tres leches but it's just regular French toast. Tasty but doesn't live up to the name. The chicken sausage was really tasty. Service was great overall. Really attentive and accommodating. Ambience was surprising. In photos Lyle's looks quite bright but it's actually very dark with one bright window in the ceiling providing most of the light. It was raining the day we came so perhaps it's not always so dark. The white couches are beautiful and really brighten up the space. The ambience was lacking a little when we were there. There was a DJ but you couldn't hear the music! I would chalk it up to it being a Monday. Overall had a nice time and wouldn't mind coming back during their regular DJ brunch on weekends. The restaurant is gorgeous with huge beautiful lamps coming down from the ceiling. The paper lamps caving in throughout the restaurant alongside the red drapery reminded me of a cirque de soleil like atmosphere. We got the bees knees and the cocoa Manhattan which were both great. The cornbread was definitely the best thing we had all night, and the rainbow trout was good, and quite fresh tasting with different veggies and macadamia nuts on it. Unfortunately I was not a fan of the pork chop at all, it was too salty and over cooked. The muscles were just average and I didn't enjoy the red sauce that they were cooked in. I have been wanting to try Lyle's brunch for a while now, but when I saw they were partaking in DC's winter restaurant week (dinner only), I couldn't resist making a reservation! Upon arrival, we were immediately sat. The restaurant is pretty "moody," being dim with lots of cool decor. It would be a great date night spot. Our server was very attentive and saw us almost immediately. The restaurant week menu is 40$/person, and includes a starter (I got the mussels), a main (I got the salmon), and a dessert (I got the banana bread). I also tried one of their signature cocktails, the Lyle smash, and enjoyed their complimentary bread which had a cornbread like crumbly consistency and came with a tasty homemade butter. Mussels: big, meaty pieces and a rich tomato sauce full of tomatoes and onions. I liked that it came with bread to soak up the sauce, but since they served it already on the plate parts of the bread were soggy. I also for the life of me could not open one of the mussels Salmon: tasty, smooth, and without any bones. The rice underneath was great too, with a slightly sticky texture. Banana bread: a little dry, but I loved the whipped cream on top. Lyle smash: loved that it came with the finely chopped ice (like Chick-fil-A), and had a beautiful sprig of mint in it. My friend and I stayed at the Lyle a few weeks ago when we were in DC for a night for a concert, and they gave us a coupon for 2 free cocktails at the bar. I'm so glad we decided to use it and had time for drinks at the bar before our dinner reservation. The bar is gorgeous (they did such a good job renovating this Art Deco building), and the service was also great. My friend had their High Fashioned (gin, grapefruit, and elderflower), and I had their Cacao Manhattan (rye whiskey, cacao, maple, vermouth blend, and bitters), which I loved. We went to Lyle's for the first time on Mother's Day for brunch -- trying a new spot on Mother's Day? Bold, I know, but the reviews looked great and so did the ambience so I decided to give it a shot for my mom who visited from out of town. I told my cousin that we were going there, and she mentioned it was a nice spot but that they blared music and when she had asked if they could turn it down, they said no. I realized this when I had called the hostess to confirm my reservation and it sounded like they were having a party. I told my cousin that hopefully that wouldn't be the case on Mother's Day, but I was wrong. Immediately when we walked in, the music was blasting -- normally this wouldn't be a huge problem for me if I was out for a boozy brunch with my friends but on Mother's Day? Not really the vibe. My mom wasn't pleased but we decided to stay. We saw a lot of mothers there, children, families and young people but everyone was yelling across their tables and you could hear other tables conversations. This was really off putting because in photos, the restaurant looks like a very relaxed, classy place -- not to say that Lyle's still isn't classy, but the music volume definitely killed the vibes. I hadn't seen any reviews talk about the music either, so I don't know if this a "new" thing they're trying out but I've got thoughts... Moving on to food. We started off with the French Toast to share which was absolutely delicious! We each ordered different entrees, I had the short rib hash (definitely the best of the bunch), my boyfriend had the breakfast brioche sandwich, and my mom the chicken and waffles. Everything came out hot and quick, and our server was a little slow at times, but overall good. The chicken in the chicken and waffles could have a little bit more of a robust flavor, and perhaps a different fruit pairing with the waffle -- it was tasty, but nothing to write home about. The short rib hash was excellent overall but needs the green sauce they pair with it -- on it's own, the short rib meat was lightly seasoned and again, could use some more "wow" factor. Breakfast sandwich was pretty standard, but the aioli on it is really what elevates the sandwich! Overall: Food 4/5 Ambience 3.5/5 Service 4/5 Interior design 5/5 The waiter said this restaurant has been around about 3 years now, but I've never heard of it or seen many reviews on it across platforms so I was surprised. I'm glad we gave it a shot, and I'll definitely be back (especially to try happy hour) but just with my friends! If I could recommend something to management: I suggest you tell your guests, especially those booking on special holidays that they should expect loud music or perhaps don't blast the music like it's a lounge on those holidays. Don't get me wrong, the DJ was playing only bops, but the volume was way too loud and took away from the class. If anything, Lyle's should offer brunches/days where they have the music hopping and other days when it's at a normal volume. And let me be clear: the music wasn't the issue (I love music and all the songs that were being played) it was the volume at which it was being played. I may be young but I don't always like to shout at people who are 3 feet away from me while I'm trying to enjoy a meal and good company read more

Our service was good, took forever to cash out per usual at this place. This place is so cute! The photos on web don't do it justice it's really beautiful. The mimosa options have unique flavors and I loved the lavender lemon. It had a pretty purple color and lovely flavor. My friend also had their expressions martinis and really enjoyed it. The food was delicious and the DJ played really good MICU's but at a tolerable volume. The diners were so diverse as well that made it cool.
