Black Bean Pepper Beef, takeout

3537 Fruitvale Ave Oakland, CA 94602 I was in the area, and dropped by for some takeout. I ordered Black Bean Pepper Beef and Salted Fish Chicken Fried Rice. Salted what? Salted Fish Chicken Fried Rice. If you like it, you love it, and will want to order it. I like the way Ly Luck makes it, and they give a big generous serving. Black Bean Pepper Beef is bite sized pieces of beef with a balance of peppers and onions in black bean sauce. Very well seasoned, big serving. Good amount of gravy to go with my rice. Eat it Chinese style and enjoy a nice meal from Ly Luck.

44. Pineapple Sweet & Sour Chicken

I used to eat at Ly Luck frequently when I worked in the neighborhood and was always incredibly fond of their BBQ Pork Fried Rice. It had been at least three, maybe four years since my last visit and I knew this was exactly where I wanted to go if I was in craving some Chinese. What I can immediately say is that the food is still as good as ever. I know a lot of people have been highlighting some noticeable changes with the food due to new ownership, but that will attest the food is as good as it was before. My wife and I ordered a pineapple and sweet and sour chicken accompanied by a beef chow mein to go and literally received it in less than 10 minutes upon placing my order through the phone. The employee that I spoke to said I could come right down and it would be ready in a couple minutes, and I honestly didn't believe her but to my surprise by the time we got to the store, which was in less than 10 minutes. It was already well packed, and ready to go. That in itself is an instant improvement from the previous ownership who typically would need at least 15 to 20 minutes. They were great, but this lightning fast turn around should not go unnoticed. A couple of things where I feel they can improve is the amount of chow mein in comparison to sweet-and-sour chicken is easily a 40% difference. It's not that I expected it to be stuffed but between two people that sweet-and-sour chicken felt like it was hardly there. It also literally only had like three pieces of pineapple in the entire thing so I don't know why they even mention that as part of the item. The beef chow mein however had a more than generous amount. It definitely felt like they were a bit stingy with the beef, but due to the amount of noodles that they included in instantly made up for it. Lastly, my wife was gonna pick up the order and she didn't appreciate how the employee who was serving her had her eyes glued to her hands to see if she would include a tip. My wife was going to tip anyway, but she didn't like how forced it felt due to the employee's surveillance. She did like the friendly nature from the employee as well as the atmosphere of the restaurant but helps the next time we stop by that awkwardness won't be present. As a result, this restaurant gets a 4/5. An important sidenote, you could order the food from their website, but it is cheaper to just do it over the phone.

I ordered to go and it was worth the wait. The food was fresh and the hot chili oil and soy sauce was delicious. I highly recommend this place. It is authentic.

Bang for buck! Good food done fast for a great price. My go to local spot for dinner when I'm lazy to cook and craving Chinese food. Where else can you pick 3 freshly made entrees from 69 options, all for less than $30?

I used to live in Los Angeles and they're known for their dumplings up in the Pasadena San Gabriel area and these ones reminded me of that.. This time, we ordered a few dishes to try - the classic sesame paste noodles, Shan Dong chicken, the fried rice with shrimp, and the hot spicy eggplant. Since we did order delivery on a busy Saturday night, it took a little over an hour for our food to arrive. The food was expertly packed and we were given plenty of utensils and napkins. The sesame paste noodles are one of my favorite dishes here, there's a balance of sweet and salty offered in the creamy sesame paste sauce that's so addicting. I've always been a big fan of the hand-pulled noodles which are thick, bouncy and chewy. The Shan Dong chicken is deep fried and coated in a delicious sauce. It is more of the sweeter side if you're looking for something that's spicy. I appreciate that we were given large pieces as well! The fried rice with shrimp is amazing - I love the crunch of the green onion, the softness of the fried egg, and the texture of the rice and veggies which weren't soggy and still held a nice bite. Last but not least, the hot spicy eggplant was a great choice because it's usually the trickier dish to cook as eggplant can turn really soft and mushy. I was delighted that with the way it was prepared, the large eggplant pieces still held a tender texture that did not fall apart. I also enjoyed the sauce that was paired with the eggplant, which is oyster-sauce based and added a pleasant sweetness as well. I'm always looking forward to my next visit and I love supporting Shan Dong!

For the Fun, we had Beef and Mushroom Cheong Fun that had smooth beef and shitake mushrooms that you can taste. Gum Kuo is the place to go for fresh, silky, rice wrapped rolls. Iconic for Oakland Cheong Fun. Overall, glad they're still around for quick comfort food. Service is multilingual so no need to worry about ordering. You know a dish is good when you tell yourself, "Oh, I'm just going to try a little bit of this."…read moreAnd then you can't stop eating it. This was my experience with pretty much every dish I ordered on a recent trip to Yu Yu Za Zang. I'll admit this is one of those places I've walked or driven past for years and have always meant to try but just never got around to it. But I finally had an opportunity to drag my cousin/regular dining buddy with me. We ordered Yang Jang Pi (also known as Double Skin in some places), regular jajang (spelled zazang here) myun, and tang sue yuk (beef - which is the traditional Korean meat for this dish). My cousin and I are huuuuuge fans of the Double Skin at Great China in Berkeley, so the Double Skin here had a pretty high bar to reach. We were pleasantly surprised to find it more than held its own. The portions of everything were very generous, and the mustard dressing was nice and spicy. Perhaps the veggies were not quite as crunchy as Great China's, so not as much of a variety of textures, but this Yang Jang Pi was still delicious, and I still think about it days after our visit. The jajang (zazang) myun was also very generously portioned and pretty tasty. I haven't had any in Oakland in a while, so hard to say how it compares, but I would definitely eat it again. The beef tang sue yuk was incredible. Again, large portion, perfectly crispy outside, tender beef inside, and one of the best sweet and sour sauces I've ever had with this dish. The vibe is simple and clean; nothing fancy, but I went for the food, so I was fine with that. The service was also friendly and fast. There were barely any people there on a Saturday evening, which made me sad, because the food really is good. I can't wait to try the rest of their menu. They also have soju and beer. Although Hanshin Pocha next door is popular, I could see Yu Yu Za Zang being a decent spot for delicious, very reasonably priced food that one can share with friends while having a couple of rounds of drinks. And in this economy, aren't we all looking for a good deal?
