Visit 1: pedicure was rough, expensive in comparison to the quality, and they wouldn't remove an ingrown nail. In fact, I told them they were doing a very odd pedicure in comparison to my other decade of pedicures, but they told me "everyone gets to do it their way here" blah blah Visit 2: I appreciate the quick work style. The nail color was pretty and I felt Henry took the time to do the job well. I felt the shaping could've been better but it was great in a pinch. I came in for a pearl pedicure. It came out nice, just basic pink toes. But then 3 hours later I noticed a chip, I didn't think too much I could have just scratched it. I usually travel to Bloomington from Columbia Heights, but this time I was tired and needed my nails done, so I decided to go to a nearby salon for a dip manicure. At first, the nail technician seemed okay, but when she started removing my old dip, I noticed she didn't do it completely. It felt a bit off, but I didn't say anything and let her continue. My nails aren't very long, so when she began filing, I specifically told her not to make them too short. She ignored me and filed them down anyway. After that, she started the dip process. I asked for clear dip, but she used two different shades--white and a very light pink. She did two dips of each and then told me she was finished. I smiled but pointed out that I could still see the old dip underneath. Suddenly, she and some other technicians began speaking in their language, and one of them brought her a nail polish. The technician became visibly upset, snatching the polish and placing it on the next table rather aggressively. Another technician asked me what was wrong, and I explained the situation. She shrugged it off, saying, "That's how she does dip." I told them I wasn't going to pay full price for a service that wasn't done properly. Then, one technician approached me with aggressive attitude, saying, "Let me take it off." I agreed, wanting to rectify the situation. The way they treated me felt rude and dismissive, as if they didn't want someone like me in the salon. Beware and ask questions to make sure you get what you wanted here. I asked them multiple times to have my callus removed and that I am gonna pay for it and all they kept doing was scrubbing it with no callus removed. Had to ask to get another extra service to remove my callus because the owner kept trying to say she can't guarantee that the callus will be removed all the way through trying to convince me like as if they did a great job. Trying to walk me out having my feet feeling exactly the same how I walked in. The salon was very cluttered, the nail polish selections were old, and there were open trays of egg rolls for sale sitting on top of the nail dryer - yuck! I started going to the salon this spring. I found someone I liked and made appointments with him regularly. Unfortunately he had an emergency and was not available for my most recent appointment. Instead of calling me to reschedule, the salon gave me a very young man who had apparently only been licensed for 4 days. He should not have been working on customers on the floor. His hands were shaking the whole time. It was a very poor pedicure. You could tell he was being instructed by the other technicians in the salon. In the end, a more experienced technician finally had to take over for him while painting my nails. Instead of causing a scene or leaving a bad review I chose to contact the owner of the salon via email. Her response basically amounted to, too bad, so sad, different technicians have different skill levels. If that is the case, then like most other salons, they should charge according to skill level. I absolutely love this place and I went on this Tuesday and made an appointment for 1pm. I went with my friend who had her nails not done yet so I encouraged her to get her nails done, just like I was doing. The ladies name was *Tina*. She worked her magic with my busted nails and one was torn down the middle and she was very gentle. She kept asking if I felt any pain which I didn't. I made the decision from right there that she's going to be my nail tech from now on. This by far has been the worst nail experience I've ever had out of the 15 years of me visiting any salon. When I walked into the salon I was asked what service I needed, and they sat me down at the station. I was never asked to wear a mask, nor was I asked to wash my hands. I was extremely unimpressed by the woman that started to do my nails, as she started to upsell me on every service that I asked for. I originally wanted a short nail set because of my birthday. Which is what brought me into the salon. I was sent a birthday coupon for 10% off. I have been here several times before but this one experience was by far the worst. Not only did I not get what I was asking for but, the terrible service is the reason I will not go back. As I sat down to get my fingers done the lady asked me what service I wanted and I told her I wanted a French tip but I wanted it to be pink and she said that she could perform the service. Well that was a lie. I asked her to cut them down and she said no that she's gonna leave them long because they look better and to try something different because it's my birthday. I agreed, and I wish I had not. She points me to sit at the pedicure station so that I can get a pedicure at the same time as my nails set. I asked if it was safe that the lamp sat on my bare legs and they told me it was fine.!! I sat there uncomfortable while getting a pedicure and getting a full set done all within the pedicure chair. You may be wondering why I moved from a regular nail station to get my full set done to a pedicure station? Your guess is as good as mine. Fast forward to shaping my nails I asked for a certain shape I did not get it. When it came down to do the French tip she did not give me the service that I had asked for. I asked for a V French tip she said at the beginning that she could do it. That was not true. She then proceeds to tell me that it would be another $30 to get the different tip that I wanted. I did not agree to that nor did she agree to that when she told me the original price. My toes turned out beautiful but my fingernails were terrible. I was never asked to wash my hands in between drilling. I was never asked to scrub my finger nails after dusting. I was never asked to wash my hands before the painting. Nor were my cuticles cut down. I had to come up with a design that would be within the price range of what she's given me which is what you see in the pictures. The concept is cute but not what I originally wanted. When I asked at the end what were the compensation for the burns on my leg from the nail lamp, and not being able to have a service that I originally came in and asked for? They caught an attitude with me and the one lady that did not do my nails that I am assuming is the manager started to yell at me. The lady that did my nails then pulled out a camera like I was the aggressor. I don't want to pull the race card but if I wasn't yelling then why was I being treated as the aggressor? Is it because I'm black? In all honesty I'm not a confrontational person. I then said to her "ma'am do not yell at me for asking questions when you guys are the ones that messed up." After back-and-forth and me being as calm as I possibly can I ask again what are the accommodations before I pay you for the service? What are the accommodations for my discomfort and me being lied to? She then yelled at me and said "I'm not accommodating you for anything there is no more discount you got a 10% off for your birthday that's all you get." She also stated that they were closed and she did me a favor by taking me in. I responded "I would have rather you have turned me down than to rush on my nails." I then paid what I thought the service was worth which was a little over 90% of what they were originally charging me and I left and said "don't worry you've lost a customer forever." the lady responded and said "that's fine don't come back here ever." I have been in that salon at least five times now and every time I've spent 200+ dollars on my nails and toes. I have no problem paying for a service because my husband makes sure that I am treated well when I go to the nail salon. But I refuse to be treated like garbage and still paying top-notch prices. I would've been happy if she had offered my next fill and or gel color to be discounted but, there was NOTHING! Just attitude!This was by far the worst experience. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SALON. Do NOT go here if you are looking for a manicure. Poor communication, disregard for questions being asked and hands down the WORST customer service I have EVER received anywhere (this includes any nail salon, hair salon, shopping experience, restaurant I have ever been to). I would never return and refuse to recommend this salon to anyone I know. I am typically a very quiet person, scared or worried to hurt others' feelings when revue being services that I am paying for so usually even if I'm not happy with something I just live with it and learn for the next time so for me to feel this upset is completely out of the norm for me. My sister is getting married this weekend and I am the maid of honor. She wanted a matte, nude color on the bridesmaids. When I got to the salon I asked if the color I chose (which was the closest to a nude without being white) would be clear. I was told that with multiple coats it would not be clear or shear. One my technician started, I realized it would be so I spoke up to which she kept saying "no it's natural, it looks good." Now, did it look nice? Yes. However, as a paying customer who has a huge and extremely important event in to days, it was in no way what I needed for the want event. I said multiple times that this was not what I was looking for and she was unresponsive to the point that ANOTHER CUSTOMER got a second technician to come over. She then gave me white which was not the right color either so I said that wasn't what I wanted. At the end of my appointment they were unempathetic and COMPLETELY ignored me saying I was really unhappy. I still left a tip because I felt too badly about taking her time but asked for at least a partial refund on the service to which the manager was BEYOND rude to me, saying it was "too bad" and they will not refund me for anything. I went to my car and cried I was so upset about how I was treated at this salon by their staff during a time when I want this to be perfect for my little sister. I am still in shock about how AWEFUL the customer service was here and how it is possible someone can feel okay talking to a customer, let alone another human being, the way they did. I am now going to have to find the time as I travel for this out of state wedding and spend an additional amount of money to have to get my nails redone at another salon so that they are matching the rest of the bridal party :( Beyond disappointed. read more
