Filled with bubbles from acetone mixed in to dilute it. When I brought it to the attention of the manager she said it was because I didn't "upgrade" my package to help remove my cuticles! I had been coming to Luxury Nails twice a month for 3 years. The work was usually ok, but there were times the work was shoddy. The last time I went, I spilled some iced coffee by accident. I informed them immediately and offered to wipe it up myself, but they insisted on cleaning it up. Mistakes happen, and it shouldn't have been a big deal. The nail techs, in Spanish, made a huge deal of it and totally mocked me about it for a half hour. I'm Asian, so they likely thought I didn't understand them, but I did. I sat quietly and informed the owner in a side conversation. She gave me a halfhearted apology and offered nothing else, not even a little discount. I'd seen her offer to totally comp white customers who complained about very minor details and were loud and rude to the staff about it. I still tipped the staff that day, but I never went back. It was the most convenient nail salon for me, but I decided to go to another location after this, and I am much happier there. I'd given such loyalty to Luxury Nails, which was a shame. I was loyal, kept every appointment, and always paid in cash as they insisted (despite having to take the time to drive to a BofA ATM, which you can't find in Northvale). And the loyalty program is a complete joke! After paying over $5,000 to Luxury Nails, all I ever got was $10 off a service ONE TIME. read more

The only reason I'm giving one star is because of the accommodating that Rita had done..otherwise zero! I had gone after work for the first time for a gel manicure. I was in need of nail art for an event. I left so unhappy bc the art that I showed the nail tech was no where close to a resemblance. I had SO much to do with an upcoming event, so I figured, "Oh well!" Then my gel chipped that same day! I called to go back the next day; and Rita said she would fit me in. When I showed her the picture that I wanted--I WAS THEN CHARGED $10 additional, since it was more than the original art. NO CONSIDERATION AT ALL OF HAVING THE INCONVENIENCE OF COMING BACK!!! That $10 art pealed off in one day...Then nearly four days later the ENTIRE gel manicure is pealing off! Visited this nail salon in my quest for a new go-to spot since moving to the area. My first few visits were favorable; but, I had a less than satisfactory visit this week. Since I have visited many salons over the years and the fact that I work in the service industry, I realize that there is a learning curve to adjusting (me to them, them to me). So, I will offer advice here for the first time visitor. (Note that I have tips and get pedicures.) #1. Speak to the owner/manager before proceeding with your service. Ask her ALL your questions as she often translates for the technicians. Let her know if you have time constraints. I rate them as medium speed (suburban speed vs. the speed of a city salon). #2. Like many places now, they do not offer an acrylic product (which I personally find MUCH stronger!); but, they do gel (pricier than acrylic, so be aware). If you are a "beast" like me and use your fingers like tools... ask for tips rather than extensions. Much stronger in my opinion and helps to keep shape consistent. Also, it shortens the time a bit. They use their electric filers a bit, but rely on basic filing more which is a bit more time consuming. #3. If you are getting gel, ask for Nicky! I found her work neat and I feel she tries to do what you want. My problem was this past week for a new set that I got Cathy. She does not listen. I asked for coffin-style and a certain length. She said, "No, that's too long" and she made them considerably shorter. So, the shape was off, direction of nails crooked, and my result was what I equate to unattractive old lady hands with short oddly shaped nails. Disappointing. #4. Pedicures are okay". I came in to get my nails done for my wedding and I was so excited to come in after reading all their reviews online but after the experience I had, I will not be returning. I really was hoping to fall in love with this salon especially since the staff was so welcoming and it's so close to my house. I spent just over $100 for gel nails that didn't last two days. After two days, my middle finger nail broke off and I returned for them to fix it for me. The day after that, another nail broke off. I will not be returning nor will I be recommending this place either. The last thing I wanted to worry about on my wedding weekend were my nails and when I had left the salon they looked great but they just didn't last. In what world should a basic manicure and pedicure (no gel) cost 45 dollars? Anywhere else would charge way less and for the money they arent doing anything extra/special. It's not true that this is the same pricing as in the area; 10 minutes away I can spend $70 on tips, with special design, powder gel, AND a pedicure. They give included 10 minute foot and shoulder massage. I just came back for the convenience of needing an appointment today and spent $100 DOLLARS NOT INCLUDING TIP on a gel manicure/pedicure!! Three of my cuticles are bleeding now, I did not get tips, and did not get massage. I feel that this pricing is extremely ridiculous and not giving a "luxury" experience it claims to. read more

The most kind and accommodating nail salon you will ever go to! Never have I EVER had an issue with polish chipping or a nail breaking. Mind you, I work hands on with dogs all week long. My set stays on beautifully between appointments regardless of how rough I am with my hands. Rachel has been doing my nails since I first started coming to the salon. May have gotten the wrong technician because I did not like how my technician did my nails at all. So I got my gel polish done last week at another nail salon, I had two broken nails and they applied glue over there. The lady there cut me so I didn't want to go back. So that's why I tried this place, it's close to my work so it was convenient. I didn't like how she shaped my nails, it's kinda comical how clumpy and ugly they are. This place is very relaxing and the workers are all professional. The place uses disposable nail files, buffs, slippers and pedicure covers which is a huge plus. I have given this place sooooo many chances. After a third time of being disappointed. Which I have come in maybe ten times. I'm just very unhappy lately. First time I had a complain was I had two ppl do my feet and nails. I said DONT cut. She responded with a OK and cut my long nails. Ok let that pass. Second time in October last year l had a manicure done the day before somewhere else and could not finish my gel because I had to run out for an emergency so I came to Luxury nails the next day to just get nail color. Please remember they didn't have to file or do cuticles. NOTHING And the lady at the desk charges me the FULL price of a Gel manicure. I asked her why when it was just the gel color. "Oooo because it was a process" (????) what process????? My nails were clean and nothing needed to be done. ONLY color. Paid 60 bucks. For just Gel color. I guess also cuz it was French. Idk. This time I come in. I notice they have become even more quick and less sanitizing. Ladies !!!! In every nail salon every customer gets a paper towel under their hands or even a towel. They do NOT allow this here. So all my skin my ripped side skin that bled a bit which was a scab NOT because it was their fault. It had to be handled without a paper towel or even a simple towel. They have to collect it by hand and it's not even cleaned after. I watched. It's cleaned with the warm wet towel they use at the end of your own manicure. This place has become a quick turn around nail salon and there's nothing luxury here. I feel bad making this review. But for the prices and the 20 min manicure. Not worth it anymore. read more

I have been to this salon 4 times since the new management took over. 2 of those times I had the same nail tech and a reasonably good experience. However this last time the nail tech repainted my nails 3 times before I was satisfied enough to pay for the service. Apparently there was leftover glitter on the brush of the topcoat which was then used in my manicure. I pointed this out several times before the tech RELUCTANTLY and with attitude repainted my nails. She did so with such attitude and in such a rush that she left blank spaces, which I pointed out to the manager who then had the tech repaint them again. When I asked whether this would be to many coats she said "she will repaint it with a thin layer". Well it's definitely to thick however I had a super bowl party to get to and had already been there almost 2 hours. In short: it's better to make the drive to Nyack for quality work, clean brushes and a tech without attitude. read more
