I recently started going to Tappan Nails again after not having gone for several years. It appears that there are new owners since my last visit. The salon is clean and the ladies in the salon are very friendly and do a nice job on both my toes and my fingers! I tend to be pretty picky about how my nails are filed and can't stand it with they aren't uniform. The last regular manicure I had lasted almost a week, which for me was a very long time, as normal polish usually chips. I am happy to have returned! read more

I came to this nail salon to get their powder gel. They had sample nails on top of the powder containers to show the color they would come out. When they started doing my nails they were a completely different color than what was shown on the container and when I said something to the woman doing my nails, she said the color was "still pretty"... like okay but it's not what I asked for? The staff was very kind but that does not excuse for the failure to show the color the polish will come out, it even makes me wonder if this powder had expired or something. read more

Went back in yesterday for another fill and a pedicure as well. The woman started with my mani and my french tips look great! The only thing I am concerned about is that the edge near my cuticle is a little more noticeable on some nails than others. But overall, they look amazing, and really I only notice small flaws because I live with them. :) My pedicure was wonderful! The girl offered me a magazine and was very gentle (as I mentioned before, sensitive cuticles and skin over here). The color is perfect for spring, and I felt super relaxed. I have a couple of friends that have been coming here for quite some time and they've had nothing but good things to say. So I figured when I was ready to get my nails done, I'd give it a try. The place is very clean and the staff is super nice and accommodating. Kim and Joyce were very friendly and Joyce did a wonderful job with my tip set. I enjoyed the warm towel massage and the hand scrub at the end! It was a very nice touch. It was a little pricey for the new set of tips, but honestly, I'd pay it again because the technicians were so nice and the tips came out beautifully. I'll definitely be back! read more

Very clean and cute place. Nice variety of colors. I got a pedicure here and it was nice and relaxing in the massage chair. My pedicurist was very thorough with massaging my legs and feet, and she used those hot stones to end it off. I'm giving it 4 and not 5 stars because one of my toes seems a bit light on color. I noticed when I got home, but only when I'm staring at it. But otherwise, I'd go there again! read more

I am almost scared to review this salon, because part of me wants to keep it my little secret! But this salon is great - not many other places in the Rockland / north Jersey area where you can get a (gel) mani / (non-gel) pedi deal for just $40 (unless you get the french mani, then it's $10 or $15 more - but still a great deal!). The color selection is good, the store is clean and and staff is soo friendly, I always love seeing the girls. They can also do special nail designs on request for a little extra (I've gotten amazing ombre/gradient designs), and they do a great job at it! They also have good basic waxing - all-around this is definitely a great place to go for your nail / beauty needs! Highly recommended read more

Don't let the exterior fool you. It may not look great on the outside, but it's terrific inside. Very clean, welcoming, and up-to-date. No wait on a weekday afternoon for a regular manicure and pedicure. The young lady who performed my services was very friendly and nice. She was also very gentle. All the tools were new and they have a great selection of polishes. I'm very happy with both services, plus they have a parking lot, which is a rarity in this area. The only downside was the woman I presume to be the owner. She seemed a little you-know-what-y, but it wasn't bad enough to subtract a star. read more

I've never been to any other nail salon where the massage service was so thorough. The owner and staff were so sweet and helpful. I got a pedicure and Kim did an impeccable job. They use this homemade scrub for your legs, as well as the scrub + actual hand squeezed grapefruit juice on your hands which will make your skin feel so soft. My friend got a gel manicure and hers came out amazing as well. This place is a bit out of the way from where I live but I don't think I'll go anywhere else. read more

My go to nail salon's quality has dipped so I went out to try to find a new one and stumbled across this gem. The place looks small, but it accomdates a decent amount of people. Just had a regular pedicure and a gel mani which ran me to 45$. Not too bad. The quality of the work done makes it worth the money. The ladies are very friendly and try to make conversation but they don't force it. The regular pedicure comes with a nice little leg massage that ends with hot stones. COOL. They use disposable utensils that are individually packaged and opened in front of you. TLDR: A little on the pricier side, but the quality makes it worth your money. Will I be back? This place recently switched management. The chairs are brand new and they use liners for the pedicure tub which is definitely a nice improvement. They use a homemade scrub to exfoliate in manicures and pedicures and give a massage with a warm cloth which is great. Prices went up a little bit (I think) but I think it's worth it for most of the improvements. They seem to still be setting up some things but the management switch was recently so that makes sense. Still my favorite nail place. read more

I would never go back here unless it was being paid for by someone else. Took 3 hours to complete a manicure and pedicure and that alone is enough to make me never want to come back. Not only that though, the prices for a gel fill or a new gel set is over double the amount i've paid at many other places in the rockland area and doesn't look any better. I paid 170 dollars not including tip for two 3 hour manicure pedicure and for it to look slightly below average. Wouldn't recommend it to my friends, you're better off traveling 15 minutes and getting it done for a much more reasonable price for a much quicker and better job read more

The only reason I'm giving three stars today is that the doors were open and there were a lot of flies buzzing around and landing on me and the nail technician. They need a fly strip or else leave the door closed (or get a door with a screen). But so far the mani/pedi service I'm getting is great! read more

I've been coming to Tappan Nails for 15-20 years. I have NOT been back since it changed ownership a couple of years ago and I'm disappointed. The girl doing my pedicure was sick, wiping her nose on her shirt the whole time.....it took 55 mins to get through a simple Pedicure (with callus treatment). She hurt me several times cutting my cuticles and scraping my foot. Needless to say, this experience was anything but relaxing. I made an appointment for Mani & pedi and had to leave without the manicure b/c it was painfully too long for the pedicure. On top of all that - I'm a new customer and was ready to pay with my debit card - come to find out they won't allow you to add a tip. Icing on the cake = owner telling it was MY responsibility to tell her I didn't have cash when I walked in?!?! Really?? How ridiculous. read more

The salon has been under new ownership since February. I stopped by for a quick manicure and had the nicest experience. They renovated with new pedicure chairs and tables. Very clean. This place is a hidden gem. They have parking behind the establishment which is convenient.They have a gel manicure/regular pedicure $40 deal. The people here are very attentive, polite and incredibly sweet. This place gets fairly busy on a Saturday so if you want something more low key, might want to opt on a weekday or weeknight. On the weekends, the sorority girls turned suburban moms arrive in pairs and are loud and inconsiderate of any other customers. If you want to be inundated with vapid conversation concerning their former pledge sisters from college, please come earlier on the weekends (before they wake up from their hung over hell), or on a weeknight or weekday. My two issues with the place are, in the past they have double dipped their wax (which is unhygienic and unsanitary). The owner informed me last time I went that this had been fixed and the wax had been changed. The second issue is, they are fairly clean - the equipment is sanitized properly and the fresh packages are opened in front of you; however, their nail files, pumice stones, hot stones, brushes and buffer tools are not properly sanitized and that is a concern of mine. They are cleaner than other nail salons in the area, but they could do a little better sanitizing everything properly so as to mitigate any risks. They also need more than one design technician or need to train their other staff for technical expertise on advanced nail designs. With only one design technician, it gets hectic. All in all, I would recommend the place, the women do make an effort to address concerns and are really nice which is good for a growing business. They also provide you with a loyalty card which they stamp for each transaction and you receive a free service after ten (?) or the completion of the card. read more

Started coming here when I moved back to this area about two years ago. Read some great reviews that didn't disappoint and this became my go-to salon for manicures/pedicures. Unfortunately there are new owners and I've noticed a change in both service and atmosphere. There was a strong odor of cigarette smoke in the salon which I am very sensitive to and was therefore uncomfortable. Overall I felt the service and quality of my manicure and pedicure were sub par. I feel the prices were competitive with the going rate for this area. Sadly I think I will need to look for a new salon! read more
