I hired Aluminum Company of NC do replace all my windows and entry doors -- a project that was LONG…read moreoverdue. I'd done a lot of research into replacement windows -- what to ask when interviewing companies, what a quality installation looks like, which windows are the best quality. I'd been saving up for eight years for this because I wanted quality -- and it isn't always the name brands you know that are the best. I chose this company for these reasons: 1) Reputation. The company has been around since 1961 so they aren't going anywhere. 2) I researched the brand and type of window they install to verify quality and these were recommended by more than one person. 3) I asked about the install itself -- who measures, to what detail do they measure, type of caulk, how they insulate. And they never once treated me like "the clueless little woman." The rep respected that I did this due diligence and even gave me MORE information about their installation process, which I double checked, and yes, it is above and beyond. 4) The payment plan was simply unbeatable. 5) They gave me a DETAILED quote AND personal references. Other companies I spoke with did not. Communication was impeccable. It was a wait of a few months, but they kept in touch. Installation took only 3 days for 19 windows and 4 entry doors. These guys work FAST, without sacrificing attention to detail. When we had a mishap with one of my cats escaping the "safe space" they worked with me until I could corral him into another safe space. The crew chief, Chris Riley, is personable and managed the job well. The work site was left CLEAN. The full screens I asked for were installed later, and they're great. I had many windows that hadn't been opened for years because of being painted shut, nor had they been cleaned well. Now I can clean my own windows, the draftiness is gone and I am comfortable because that this company stands by its work. I am an anxious person. This was the biggest job I've ever had done where I didn't already know the person doing the work. They dealt with my anxiety beautifully and kindly. I have already recommended this company to others and will continue to do so.

I'm very disappointed with the customer service I received during a recent consultation with Rice…read moreGlass. Jordan (JJ) came to my home to measure windows for replacement. At the start of the visit, I explained that I wanted measurements and pricing for individual windows so I could decide which ones to replace. His first response was, "Why did they send me out here if you're not even sure you're going to replace them?" -- which immediately set an unprofessional tone. We discussed replacing a window located within a rock exterior wall. A reputable builder had previously told me that replacing the entire window could be difficult and expensive because of the surrounding stonework. Jordan dismissed this concern and said the rock would not need to be touched. Since this conflicted with what I had been told before, I asked him to provide pricing for both approaches so I could compare options. He measured all the windows and later sent a total estimate. When I asked for the pricing to be broken down by window so I could make decisions, Jordan refused and said he would have to charge more to do that. This made it difficult to evaluate the project in stages, which was my original intent. There was also confusion about whether pricing for the window in the rock wall had been included. Jordan insisted I had told him not to quote it, which I did not. The conversation became unnecessarily argumentative instead of solution-focused. Additionally, I had to provide my email address three separate times because it was not written down correctly, which added to the frustration and made the interaction feel disorganized. When I called the office to resolve the issue, I was initially unable to speak with anyone else because Jordan answered the phone again. When I was finally transferred, the person I spoke with said he did not want to do business with me because Jordan had told him I had cursed him out -- even though he had not heard the conversation himself. The call ended with him hanging up on me. I also asked whether the company would guarantee against leaks if the window in the rock wall were replaced. I was told no guarantee could be provided. Overall, the interaction felt dismissive, disorganized, and unprofessional. I was simply trying to gather information and pricing so I could move forward with the project. Clear communication and basic customer service would have made this a very different experience.
