That sure wasn't the case. They were so sweet and listened to my friend's request, and even adjusted it for free. However, the person who fit me for my glasses was very curt and unhelpful, which seems like the most important part! I literally just downloaded the Yelp app to write this. From the moment I walked in the door everyone was friendly but not hovering (also their selection of frames is incredible). My main reason for the visit was to get both a contact and glasses prescription and because I'd been experiencing crazy eye pain and needlessly consulting the Internet for a possible diagnosis I was nervous as hell. I basically thought they were gonna tell me "Look, you're gonna go blind in like a week." Because tbh, most eye doctors I've seen in this city have been assholes. Long story short, Dr. Aoyagi was a joy; incredibly professional, warm and made me feel super comfortable. Also, I'm not going blind. A few months ago I had a terrible experience at the Brooklyn Spectacles store a few streets away from Luxeye. My glasses were basically on their last gasping breath when I grew desperate and ended up at Luxeye Optical. I was greeted by two lovely ladies who not only tried to help fix my current glasses, but noticed my urgency in getting a new pair. They were both honest, helpful and extremely accommodating. I visited Luxeye in its northside location to have my contact lens prescription updated at somewhere super-close to my place. Honestly, I was initially sceptical of whether I would purchase my contacts from the store, but the retail assistant was super helpful and removed any of the roadblocks to my purchase. I usually buy online, but they put together a package which included the consultation, 8 boxes and a mail-in rebate which ended up making the whole price the same price (and far more convenient) than buying online. I was really impressed and surprised. They also have a great selection of frames. Dr Rogerson who performed my exam was v. professional and lovely (and gorgeous!). She gave me some good tips and was careful to make sure my script felt right. Top notch. Highly recommended. read more

I don't normally leave reviews but this place definitely deserves another amazing one. ALL of the employees are phenomenal. I walked in just to browse and ended up trying on a couple new frames. One employee recommended some great frames for me and another set up an eye exam for me for the same day (the ophthalmologist is hilarious by the way). After my exam, I had dinner with a friend to kill time while my glasses were being made. The entire process took about 2 hours, which is astounding. They even tuned up my old eyeglasses (which are from Warby Parker and clearly not carried at their shop) for free! My experience here was truly amazing and I know I will be heading back there very very soon. read more

Luxeye was fantastic in orchestrating a complicated order I had. After finding a pair of glasses in the store that I liked, I searched online and found the same frames in a different color. I asked if Luxeye could order them for me and they happily obliged. A few weeks later we found out the company in England had changed factories and all of their orders were on backorder. Tracy was instrumental in placing the order and keeping on track of it every two weeks. Tracy followed up with me each time letting me know of the updated estimated shipping date. so, i'm one of those lucky kids that has eye insurance. but because i'm lazy, and my contract job that supplies said insurance is about to end, i needed an eye exam. made and appointment, saw the optomitrist and was out in 20 minutes. they weren't high pressure with the YOU BUY GLASSES FROM US schpeel. i knew i was going to order glasses online and they were great about not pestering me to buy buy buy! i'll recommend and return to luxeye optical. read more

I'm very impressed. I grew up here in NY with a very good Park Ave Opthamologist who was amazing. I'm very picky and can tell the difference between good from mediocre care in a heartbeat. Dr. Aoyagi was thoughtful and patient from the get go. She really took the time to check my eyes thoroughly and constantly asked me questions throughout the entire exam to ensure that I was seeing or not seeing everything which was placed in front of me. Every procedure was clearly explained and it was easy to tell she cared about her job and my vision. A warm person to boot. If that wasn't enough she made me a mock pair for me to walk around in to make sure my eyes adjusted properly and I could see clearly without strain or "fishbowling". My glasses were ready in just a couple of days and I'm beyond happy. If you need an eye doctor who cares about your eyes and won't treat you like a piece of meat, this is the place. read more

The great reviews are warranted people. I can't comment on their eye exam as I came with my own prescription. However, I can comment on everything else. I don't live nearby but made the trek because they carry Yellow Plus. The guy who helped me pick out a frame was very patient and gave me good advice as to what looks good on me. The woman I met when I went to pick up my glasses also replaced the nose pads for free on the glasses I was wearing that day. They also did me another huge favor which I am hesitant to mention lest others take advantage of them. What I can say is that their customer service is the best I have ever seen. read more

I've bought 4 pairs of glasses over the past 2-3 years here and will definitely go back. They take great care of their customers and aren't pushing the most expensive pair of frames in store. Jaquay is a rockstar. I was totally judging a book by its cover when I saw this girl with glittery blue nails but my god she knows her stuff! I was kind of expecting this pretentious hipster place (being on Bedford) but she pulled up my insurance information, walked me through literally every line explaining what's what, called my insurance company for something I could've done myself, explained my lenses options with great detail and was just the nicest person. 5 stars for you girl! read more

What a find. This is the best eye exam/glasses purchase experience I've had. The doctor was thorough, friendly and professional, and the salesperson was equally great. By the time my exam was finished she had chosen several frames, all of which were very flattering. It was hard to make a final decision. But she also walked me through what my insurance would cover and the cost of everything, including special lens treatments, before I made my decision. I felt very well-informed. I decided to get a pair of prescription sunglasses as well. Almost two years ago I got an exam and glasses from Eyeco Vision and thought the brusque treatment I received was a fluke - until I read other Yelp reviews! i love the selection, but they totally messed up my insurance claim. Each employee told me something different. The information my insurance gave me was completely different as well They are ok if nothing goes wrong, but don't count on the employees to be curious if there is a problem. Came in with problems of seeing close, and Dr. Aoyagi discovered that the strength of my prescription was too strong. The staff excels as well. Visiting Dr. Aoyagi is by far the best "eye doctor" experience I have ever had. She was incredibly thorough in my exam and took the time to ensure that the prescription was just right for my needs, even having me test out the just over/under strengths (for an astigmatism correction) so that I could choose what was most comfortable. I will certainly be recommending her to friends. Also, the staff that works at the desk was kind and very helpful in taking the time to figure out and explain my insurance coverage. As for Luxeye itself, the frame selection is somewhat limited to hipster styles (which makes sense for the neighborhood) and I found it frustrating that all the sample frames are locked up meaning a sales person has to unlock and hand you frames for each and every pair you try. I felt this slowed down the process. read more
