I'm preparing for a wedding & on a strict timeline. I arrived to my appointment 5 mins early& the person I scheduled it with had to leave for a little bit so she passed me onto somebody else... they then proceeded to take a walk in of three people before setting me up, then I had to wait for a tech to be done to work on me. 30 minutes into my appointment finally someone comes over. He asked if I wanted to trim I said yes but then he didn't cut my toes even, or do the type of French I asked for. The tech I booked with came back after an hour to work on me. I said I want square and very long (I said long 4 times) & I did not leave with long nails... I put on my appointment that I wanted a design but due to delay, we ran out of time for the design. so now I spent $190 on nails I made an appointment for & not what I anticipated leaving with. I made an appointment the week before for a 10am gel-x set mani and regular pedi. I was late to my appointment because of a train, so I didn't mind waiting 10 min since they were working on 4 people already. The staff were nice and the spot was spacious, well-decorated, and clean. Angela and Holly took turns applying the gel nails, doing my pedicure, and painting the base coat and aura design. The nails came out almost exactly like my inspo pic. I have received so many compliments and there are no signs of chipping or nail breakage. To start off with, the color choices that I requested (I picked 3 of them) were not even available and were neon versions of the one displayed. The people here were very friendly, and the foot massage was good. They have a massage chair. However the nail polish applied to both the feet and the hands were very lumpy and uneven. I usually am pretty basic with pedicure so I was a bit bummed to see callus removal wasn't a part of the most basic pedicure service. But that's okay. I chose the Deluxe pedicure and I was pleased with the sugar scrub and massage. The ambiance here was calming and I liked the modern chic vibe they are going for. I did have to wait 10 minutes past my appointment time but I wasn't ignored upon arrival and was asked to wait a couple minutes. I saw they were busy so the short wait was not bothersome to me. I usually love coming here for my Dip mani and always have a great experience. However, the girl that did my nails this time really botched them. They are all unequal lengths, most of them are filed sideways and super wide so they look like shovels, and she didn't buff them so they look super fat and lumpy. Sadly, I probably won't return. This used to be the best spot in DP. Now it is under new ownership and the quality of the service went downhill. I have tried twice for a pedicure. Both times I have been very disappointed. The first time, the water massage wasn't working, tried to fix it while my feet were in it and still couldn't fix it. I asked if I could be put at a different station and was told no and the nail tech started doing my toes. The water was cold. I was not relaxed at all. Mind yourself the place was empty. I gave it another try today, again water is cold while you soak the feet. The technician kept pulling my cuticles while it wasn't ready. Not a great place at all. Do not recommend. read more

This is my second time being serviced here and I absolutely love this nail shop. It's not far from my job and the reviews were were great. It's a family ran business that operates rather smoothly. Christina is so helpful and her mom Monica is so sweet. They have a variety of nail polish options from Non chip (OPI, DND, etc), dip power, and regular polish (OPI, Essie, etc). I personally come for pedicure and gel non chip nails. Their pedicure products are all natural, so no paraffin wax option here. The products used get the job done and my feet feel amazing. I personally received the smoothing pedi and added hot stone. Both Monica and Christina have completed my pedicures and both took their time. Monica gave me the best pedicure of my life. Christina is your go to for manicures and dip manicures. Tom is the only one who does gel/acrylic nails and he is amazing. Both times I visited I was very pleased with my services. Everyone is nice and pleasant. They talk you through the entire process and offer you suggestions to better enhance your experience. I personally made appointments both time I visited. They are typically busy, so I would call ahead and make an appointment to ensure they have enough time to complete all your services. I recommend you try this place out. Got the full set acrylics and a pedicure and all I can say is that my pedicure was wonderful but my finger nails turned out very disappointing. The guy who did the acrylics didn't seem to know what I wanted even when I showed him a picture. I had a simple request - shorter and round nails. Nothing groundbreaking, just an oval-shape in what I had hoped to be a symmetrical oval. Instead, what I got was an egg shaped and slightly pointy nail which is not what I asked. I noticed too late as the guy trimmed off the side of the nails to make it pointy. When I did make a comment he was confused, and said "more pointy or more round?". Which confused me because never once did I say I wanted pointy nails. Also, the acrylics set on my pointer fingers were placed slightly off-centered and it makes it even more noticeable with the weird egg shape I got. Anyway, the overall experience was decent. I just wish someone else who maybe had better communication skills could've done my acrylic nails. I believe I had Tom too so I was disappointed to see, after all the reviews raving his artistry, that he couldn't give me a basic oval shape. I posted a few years ago about Luxe. At the time, it was under the ownership of Christina, Monica and Tom. At that time I gave it five stars because of the exceptional service, the welcoming environment, and cleanliness. About two months ago, Luxe changed ownership. Monica is no longer there (miss her a ton!), but Christina and Tom are still nail techs which is great! Full disclosure, I am a loyal customer until Christina and Tom are no longer there OR if the new owners start to lean into the culture and environment Christina, Tom and Monica originally cultivated and created. The new owners have not carried that on as of yet. I walk in and there's no hello, the vibe is colder, less friendly and the dynamic is a bit off. One could walk in before and there'd be music playing in the background, TVs on quietly and it was a bit quieter, which contributed to a more relaxed, spa-like environment. Now, it's louder (even with the same amount of people) and less welcoming. It's not even that easy to call to schedule with Tom or Christina. Please consider discussing different transition strategies with the former owners as they are accesible and created a successful business. Service has not changed because I still get my manicure and pedicure from Tom and/or Christina so I have given this place four stars for service, one less star because of the change in environment. Luxe stood out in the area because of its welcoming environment. If that doesn't come back and Tom/Christina leave, I'll go elsewhere. read more

I've been going to Luxe Nails for about 3 years now. While it's always been great, they recently(ish) changed ownership and they have been wonderful! They are so friendly and are really putting in the work to keep Luxe Nails the best around. I typically go to the owner, Angela, and she is so talented! My dip manicure last around 2-3 weeks with 0 cracking or chipping. She is meticulous in what she does and pays attention to detail. I once had 1 nail chip by a different tech and when I went to get it fixed both Angela and her husband (who also owns it) took the time to go over every nail to make sure it was perfect before I left. They are also in the process of putting new paint and it looks so pretty! Overall, you really won't find a better nail salon around Des Plaines! read more

I went for the first time today and my nail artist did a great job I really liked him! But honey the rest was a conspiracy LOL. Be aware that if you want chrome nails it's an extra TWENTY DOLLARS!!!! Can you believe it? Oh yea and the lady who talked to me on the phone basically called me a liar repeatedly. Not a good look. I went there to escape a bad experience at my old place...grass isn't always greener on the other side. I originally wanted some simple swirly lines on bare acrylics. The receptionist got all huffy and puffy saying they didn't have the time and she kept saying how she asked me if I wanted a design on my nails on our initial phone call. (She didn't) I listen to people speak and type their conversations for a living in a court of law. I would 100% remember if she had. But she just kept telling me basically I'm a liar LOL. Fine whatever I'm not losing sleep over this. So - I settled for a full set, no chip pedicure, and the infamous $20 chrome powder. My total with tip was $156! Now I have no problem paying but I feel this was EXTREMELY overpriced. Like absolutely ridiculous. You can get the kiara sky chrome powder online for $12. That chrome powder can be used for at least 20 sets of nails. That is $400 made right there. So you're telling me that this place charges over a 200% increase for what's it's worth? That's bad business. I have no proof of this but I believe after I gave them an issue about never offering a design, they made the decision to charge me $20 for chrome powder. I initially made my appointment over the phone and was greeted kindly. I went in the same day for my appointment and was greeted by busy nail techs. The inside was all newly redone and however smelled strongly of monomer liquid (acrylic) I know that's normal when it's a hot day and they're trying to keep the AC in. So no big deal. They had fans to help to smell ventilate. I'm a studying cosmetologist so I'm pretty well informed on health code laws for Illinois: They did NOT use cuticle nippers, as they are not allowed to cut live skin. Oval brush for acrylic application was cleaned and properly stored Did NOT use old monomer liquid products (highly deteriorating to nail plate.) Used light feathering motions with the E-bit instead of harsh rubbing motions used old nail file for shaping, but not on live nail, only on acrylic so there was no natural nail plate contact to the old file. Since I was hesitant on trying a new salon, I was a little tense. My nail tech was reassuring and told me to relax myself and enjoy. I was offered coffee and water as well! My nail tech took his time to perfect the shape and was very meticulous. I showed him a nail design I wanted and he said he wanted to do something better, so I let him take the creative liberty, and was pleasantly surprised! He was super friendly and wasn't happy until it was perfect. He also painted the sides and capped the tips of the nails which always makes a world of difference to me. So after my service was done he oiled my cuticles and sent me on my way. For old acrylic removal, new acrylic, and designs, the total was $40. Not bad at all considering I got a half-assed dip for 35 w/o extensions at a different location in Elk Grove. They didn't try to scam the prices either which I have experienced in the past at other salons. They were all super friendly and the guy who did my nails was super meticulous and literally didn't stop until HE liked it. Was also super gentle and was cracking jokes the whole time. This was my go to place but it's just not the same with the owner switch. My aunt purchased a gift card for me over the phone after I had my baby to treat me. She lives out of town so she purchased it over the phone, the owner did the sale. First she said they never allow that over the phone, yet she sold the gift card over the phone. I brought the receipt in that my aunt was sent (it had the owner's name, her address, all of it on the receipt). My aunt was told the $115 would be added to my account. Angela said that it was for a service not a gift card, that she came in for a service of $115, my Aunt doesn't live here, they coded it wrong in the computer. $115 they stole from us. She would not honor it. I refuse to go somewhere where they lie, cheat, and steal; even if my nails look good. I have brought my mom and my sisters here, other family members, friends, a very loyal customer. I will not be back, makes me sick.
