I went to Luxe and had a mani/pedi by Tracy. She is great! We had fun conversations and I learned about Diorama Month, which I would love to participate in next year ;) I wanted a St. Patrick's Day green, as my visit was just a couple days before, and she had this fantastically fun color (pictured). Not wanting crazy green toes, I opted for a beautiful teal color. Tracy was very thorough and helped bring life back into my dead feet. It's been weeks later and my polish still looks amazing and is not chipped at all! She also did a great job making my nails look healthy and pretty. The salon itself is very cute, with the mani/pedi station located in the back. They also have a massage room. I did not even know they offered that service. Tracy also told me about the other services she provides, including waxing and facials. Luxe is conveniently located in Shorewood on Capitol. I would love to come back and treat myself to additional pampering services! read more

I have nothing to gain from posting this other than letting people know she is not afraid to say horrible things to people. I called to ask about their covid protocols because they had 8 people inside without masks. The owner said it's family and hung up on me. I was okay with that explanation and thought it was the end of it. she then called me BACK to insult me and say I look unattractive and that "booty shorts" are not my thing. I was just calling about the masks and wasn't aggressive at all. First time, last time!! Paid $45 to get a full set of dip nails. They did not have the colors of polish I wanted, so I went with alternates. My finished nails are jagged, they didn't trim the cuticles, and the overall result was disappointing. From a customer service standpoint they are also lacking. While she waited for the solvent to work on the old tips, the manicurist scrolled thru her Facebook feed... She didn't show the courtesy to simply walk away from the station. She also filed her nails down as I sat there... Then proceeded to use the same file on my nails!!! Overall, completely unprofessional and an amateurish result! read more

Cheane is the first class hair stylist! I love her work - she is professional, calm, efficient and knowledgeable. All the hair products they use are natural, and for the first time in years, I can brush my wet hair. My color comes out exactly what I asked for, and she cuts my hair perfectly. I've followed Cheane as a stylist all over the place, starting at Actaea. This cute salon will give you a fantastic hair cut! Very welcoming space and intimate feel. I adore Cheane and she has been doing an amazing job cutting my hair for years. She will cut, layer, and style your hair so well that you leave feeling like a new person! I have super thick, super curly hair and if I ignore it...it will become a triangular, frizzy mess. Cheane thins and layers it, so it comes out in beautiful curls AND also straightens well. Some stylists will cut curly hair so it looks good in curls, but then straightens with uneven ends. I definitely recommend this salon! read more

My regular stylist moved away this past winter, so I went on the search for a new stylist. After two unsuccessful tries, I called Luxe and got an appointment the same week with Cheane. I could not be HAPPIER! Cheane perfected my color and even fixed the choppy uneven hair cut I had gotten from the stylist before her. She made my hair beautiful, and I could stop thanking her, and she just said "I want you to feel good about your hair." Truly amazing experience! My hair has followed Cheane for many years, all around town :-) . She is a magical unicorn of hair styling and I love her. She is genuine and honest. I truly appreciate that she will tell you what you should and shouldn't be doing with your hair. She is highly educated, and almost never wrong. She has preserved my thin, frail locks from red to blond to black to brown. She is a styling Goddess to be worshipped (for real). If you have a hair need, you simply can't go wrong with consulting Cheane. There is nothing too simple and nothing too extreme for her to take on. Highly recommend. Cheane is just the absolute best. The relationship and trust between a girl and her hairdresser is one of the strongest bonds you can find! I moved to Wisconsin 6 years ago, having to leave my hairdresser of 2 years, back in Colorado. Every time I left Kristen, I was beyond amazed. I have spent SIX years trying to find that talent again. I've jumped all over this town showing every stylist the same 4 or 5 pictures of that hair color, highlight placement, cut, etc. No one has been able to come even close to it, or anything i've loved, UNTIL Laura! She returned my call on her own time to consult about what I wanted and was able to get me in the salon in 2 days. I honestly walked in planning to just scrap my auburn, and go back to all over blonde, but thought i'd show her the pictures and share my sob story, just in case. She seemed very confident and willing to attempt the color/style I loved. She absolutely nailed it! I could not be happier. I have gotten so many compliments in the last 3 days which prompt me to sing her praise. The salon was lovely, friendly staff, but I was just thrilled with Laura. The price was pretty comparable to other salons ive been to and not crazy because its "Shorewood". But honestly, you cant put a price on happiness. Ive paid similar amounts and walked out just okay, content, or worse, have had to fix it somewhere else. I can't tell you the relief of knowing that when its time for a touch up, I know exactly where Im going and wont have to spend hours hunting online for reviews on salons/stylists. read more

I have only been to Luxe twice, but the price is great and the professionalism can't be beat. I loved the cut that I received from Cheane. She listens to what you as the customer want and explains what she is doing so that you can style your hair later at home. The space is very well put together and appealing. The customer service and quality of work is wonderful as well. This is by far the best salon experience I have had in Milwaukee and I will certainly be returning! read more

I've only gotten my hair cut here once, but I had a wonderful experience from Caroline. Although the space is pretty small, the quality is high and they are very interested in satisfying you. She made sure that she did exactly what I had asked her to do at the beginning of the consultation, and explained to me what she was doing and the products she was using on my hair, so if I had any questions, I could ask her. I haven't had any other services done there, but this will be the first place that comes to mind next time I'm looking for a haircut! read more

I was led here thru a groupon deal for fake eyelashes. Eager to get started, I tried to make an appointment with one of the beauticians, Tammy Austrup, via telephone. However, she told me I needed to make the appointment on her website. I was compliant and followed her instructions and even showed up early. Upon arrival, no one greeted me or even tried to direct me anywhere. So, I inquired at the desk about Tammy and was bluntly told she was with a client. After waiting an additional twenty minutes, I had saw a woman who looked very similar to the photo on the website and asked again, if that was Tammy, the woman who would do my eyelashes. Having overheard my conversation, another women shouted from across the room, "You don't have an appointment". I later found out this was the manager. Confused, I explained I had made the appointment online and even had a screenshot on my tablet to prove it. Tammy came out eventually and told me again, "You don't have an appointment." Thankfully, I had brought along my tablet with the screenshot (a reminder for myself) and showed her the photo of herself along with the appointment confirmation. After having to prove I had indeed made an appointment, without an apology of any sort, she finally took me to the back for what was clearly, a rushed job. She never explained anything, and even told me, she didn't talk to customers while she was working because she had to concentration. She explained I would have to come back every four weeks for maintenance and if I failed to do so, she would have to charge me full price for the eyelashes (a price that didn't match the one listed on her web page (not groupon). Still trying with her, I asked if she would do my eyebrows but was turned away because I would have to schedule ANOTHER appointment! Needless to say, I was very disappointed with the service and very upset with the fact they made no attempts to correct a mistake they made! I will not return here again. read more

I used to go to Laura Filip when she worked at Ariel Hair Studio. I'm just going to repost my review on her here: She's awesome and very personable. She will take the time to hear what you want, ask you questions, tell you what she thinks, discuss options, etc, etc. She won't just chop away either. She'll make sure you're comfortable with the length and everything during the process. The haircut you get coming out of this place is definitely catered to your head. She'll understand how to cut your hair around your cowlicks and head shape. She's given me the best answers/ solutions to my hair questions/ problems as well because she knows her stuff and will take the time to explain things correctly. If you tell her you don't use product in your hair, she will take note, unlike others who will goop it on anyway. Laura cares about hair and you can tell by the way she talks about it when discussing yours. As for Luxe - It's nice and small, sunny and tastefully decorated. They also have jewelry on display for sale by the door. I was able to find a non-metered 2 hr parking spot right in front during lunch time but it was still pretty busy. I like the vibe in this place. Not pretentious at all but relaxed and welcoming. City Market and other restaurants nearby so if you are getting your hair colored or whatnot, one of the gals is willing to make a run for you. Prices for haircuts are reasonable too - womens - just over $40. read more

I also had a Groupon with Tammy and I am not sure if it's because I was receiving my lashes for cheaper or not but she was not warm at all. I also came on time about 5 minutes early actually to be told she was with another client and had to wait around 15-20 minutes. Finally about the lashes is they looked great but upon further inspection could see that quite a few were stuck onto 2 or 3 lashes. I'm not an expert but I've done my research and know they are supposed to be attached to one lash. I get that maybe a couple can stick together during this process but as my lashes are falling out I am finding some gaps in my lashes. I will most defiantly not be returning. read more

I don't like writing bad reviews but my experience was not great. I walked in with a complete idea of what I wanted. I had three pictures showing the color that I desired. I got completely talked out of my plan because the stylist said it would be too hard to achieve the golden brown color I was seeking. I even told her that I've had the color before. Didn't matter, she talked me out of it. So I ended up getting highlights that were, you guessed it, the exact color that I wanted my hair to be all over. I couldn't understand why we just couldn't do my whole head, the color of the highlights. Also, when I sat in that chair, the first thing I told her was that I did not want my hair cut at all (I cut it myself because every time I go to a stylist they cut off more than I desire.) She assured me that she would not cut it. After we did the color she told me that she just wanted to cut a little bit because the part in the back was "annoying her" Yes, she really said that. I hesitated for a bit and she assured me that she would not cut a lot, just a little bit of a trim in one area. So I let her do it. When I got home I noticed that she had cut a completely new section in my hair! Another thing that I felt was rude was the fact that when she was flat ironing my hair she said to me "You're lucky. You have a nice hair texture." She told me that usually people with "darker hair" have a coarser hair texture. This bothered me because she obviously meant something else by that. She made the assumption that I was African American when I am in fact Puerto Rican. This doesn't matter but I don't think it's right for her to tell a customer that they are "lucky" because their hair is not coarse. And for her to try to sugar coat it and say people with "darker hair". That doesn't make sense because Caucasians with darker hair do not have a coarse texture. I love that this salon is organic but this young woman definitely needs a lesson in customer service. read more
