Lux Salon was so cute and welcoming when I walked in and every part of my experience was good except for the haircut itself. I made an appointment with Alyssa, who was very nice but either she didn't know how to treat a client's hair or didn't care because my haircut lasted less than 10 minutes and it just didn't seem like she was putting that much effort into it. My hair turned out fine since it was just a trim but I felt like I was being rushed out the whole time. After the cut, she was blow drying my hair and was literally yanking my head to the point where I was struggling to keep my head up and I could feel hair being ripped out. I'm not tender headed but she didn't even make a point to ask. After that, my hair still wasn't fully brushed out but she began straightening it anyway.. So I could feel tangles in my hair being straightened which just added to my discomfort. While she was so sweet, the service itself was lacking and overpriced for what I received.. read more

I went in for a layered hair cut after a longggg time since my last salon visit, and I immediately knew I was in great hands. Greg listened intently to exactly what I was going for, and fit it to my lifestyle and hair type. He made the entire experience lovely, and was just such an authentically kind person. This salon is the best experience I have had in my 15 years living in Baton Rouge. I would not be able to imagine going anywhere else. Nathan has transformed my hair to its most healthy state, even though I am still having it colored and highlighted. All of the staff is polite and professional. I don't even want to give this salon one star after the horrible customer service I witnessed. When you are the owner of a business and also a stylist (Greg), you should listen to what the customer wants and not treat your customers so rudely. In such a competitive market in this city, you have to make sure the customer is always leaving your business satisfied. I witnessed the complete opposite of this from Greg and Nathan. A member of my family had her hair cut and colored by Greg and asked him to adjust it to her liking. I understand that everyone has bad days, but in a work environment, especially when you own the business, you need to learn to be professional and polite. You should be mature enough to address, handle, and diffuse a situation when your customer is not happy. The owner, Greg, took no responsibility. Having an employee rudely tell your customer to leave, when she was concerned about resolving any misconstrued feelings, is completely the wrong move. I will personally dissuade any new customer from trying this salon because of Greg and Nathan's inability and disregard to properly deal with this situation. read more

I know I should, but too often I fall in love with a service or good and instead of posting about it or reviewing it, I'll just keep the secret to my self. :/ However, now I'm a mom and I think of things much differently. Before my cool dude, I had my hair done regularly. It was nothing to decide what I wanted and schedule an appointment, but after him, my time became much more pressured. Today, after almost a year of hair neglect, I was able to get into Lux Salon. I left the boy with a sitter and spent two hours in with Alyssa! Not only did she immediately accommodate my schedule after almost a year, but it really was like seeing an old friend who just happens to do badass hair! Okay, for 1, I could never get the "ice" I wanted but when I left today, wow! In the sun, it's ..(in my singing voice..) AMAZING!2ndly, I really enjoyed myself. Everything is so clean and smells like heaven. The chairs are roomy and theres coffeeeeee :) I didn't feel guilty for leaving my kid. I felt genuinely refreshed. I wanted to grow my hair out longer and needed some help so my wife recommended I try Deanna at Lux. I'm not really a salon guy so I had some misgivings about going. I'm so glad I did. The staff and everyone there were very friendly and the salon itself is very warm and inviting, I immediately felt right at ease. Deanna really listened to what I wanted and it was clear that she knew exactly how to help me. In addition to being an excellent and professional stylist she was very warm and engaging. I left the appointment feeling really great about my haircut as well as my overall experience. Suffice it to say...looks like I'm a salon guy now after all.
