Each nail is a different shape.

Why tf did I pay $55 for this . First off a fill is $35 and it's apparently a $5 fee to shape, replace a nail, and something else I forgot. So you're telling me after applying acrylic, you have to pay $5 unless you want them cured in a lumpy mess? Also they didn't take the red polish completely off from my last set I got somewhere else so you can see red under the clear coat. You can see the divots from the electric file under the clear coat as well. The lines are uneven and uncentered, because she used one of those SHEIN nail tip stampers. She layered a new tip over a old one that was broken. They are fuzzes cured on my nail. Bubbles in the pink. The lady who did my nails was friendly, but she got up and became distracted several times because her friends came in to visit. I told her about the mistakes she made in which she said she'll fix it but never did. Save you're time going to this place and invest in somewhere else. I'm going back tmr to ask for a new set or my money backnow that I saw all their mistakes in better light.

I just recently moved to Grayslake and have been trying to find a nail salon that I love because my old one is all the way in Chicago. I decided to try Lux nails and it was a bad decision from the start. I walk in and there is absolutely no one there except the owner. She was sitting on her phone and didn't acknowledge me for a while. Once she did I told her what I wanted and she pointed at a chair. I sat down and she gave me a bunch of colors to look at, I was actually really surprised with their color selection, only to find out they only have about 20-30 and it's only the ones they have circled. I asked for my acrylics to be fully taken off and instead of this, she gets them part of the way off then tries to file the rest down to hide it. I told her they weren't off and she rolled her eyes and told me it doesn't matter you won't see it. I told her I still wanted them all the way off. After 20 more minutes of her trying to hide them I just said ok whatever. The actual dip and shaping was decent, or so I thought. I get home and look at them in the light and realize how bumpy and uneven all of my nails are. Then within 2 days 3 of them had cracked and chipped. I went back and she goes well I guess I can redo the ones that cracked but I'm not fixing any others. I told her that I just want my money back then because it should not cost $50 for this type of work. She agrees but says she's taking all of the dip off, which I was totally okay with. She then starts to soak my nails and while waiting comes back with $30 and tells me this is all she can give me, after saying I would receive a full refund. Once arguing for a while she goes fine I'll give you the other $10 and I go no you charged me $50 and she tells me that she didn't charge me $50 why would she do that when dip only cost $40. I said well then you must have overcharged me and I will show you my bank statement to prove it. Then all of a sudden she remembers and says it was for taking the acrylic off, which I would have been fine with if it was actually taken off. Once my nails were soaked I could still see the leftover acrylic that she left and I showed her. She slammed $50 on her work table and told me to get out.

Some places you kind of awkwardly stand around until someone acknowledges you. Not here. They greeted me as soon as I entered, it was really nice. They also took me in at my actual appointment time. Most places I've been to, I make an appointment but still have to wait sometimes up to 20-30 minutes. My technician was Lexi. She was very detailed and meticulous. I did a French signature pedicure and dip French manicure. She made sure to take what I actually wanted into consideration without making me second guess. You know how you go to places and you say one thing that you want and the technician goes, "it will be better this way" or "I think you should just do this". She didn't do that at all and I appreciated that a lot. All in all I will 100% be returning to this salon. Lexi is great!

Sam who did my nails cut me and I tried to stop him many times and asked him to wash my hands he said wait till he finishes shaping. I said ok. Once I washed my hands I asked for alcohol. Sam gave me some alcohol. I'm trying to not get an infection because the cut is deep. Then I go to pay. My total was $55 and when I was about to make the payment I see that the machine says $56.10. I asked the guy behind the desk why is it $56.10 and he said there is a 2% card fee. I told him you can't surcharge debit card transactions because it is illegal and to take off the fee. He refused. He said there is no way for him to do it. I said you can adjust the $55 to make it $55 with the fee. He said no. I tried to explain to him again that they can be fined for this and that I can file a complaint with visa for refusing to take off the fee and for charging debit card fees. He said to me do you want me to call the cops so you can file a complaint and took the phone pretending to dial 911. I told him you don't file a complaint with the police but visa and Mastercard. I asked for the owners phone number and name and he refused to provide it to me. So he wanted me to call the police to report this. I am in disbelief. I will file a complaint with visa. It may be that the swipe companies are not setting up businesses up correctly but they should know better. Image below from visa clearly stating that you can't surcharge debit cards.

I had make an appointment for two pedicures and one gel manicure for my friend. I was told that the appointment would be at 1030. When the day came, my friend and I were running five minutes late so we called to let them know out of respect and if they couldn't take us, understand as well. Well when I called, I spoke to someone who said that our appointment was at 10 and not 1030. They also said they were with their 1030 appt now. I was shocked, I said that that was not my understanding and if we were already 30 mins late to an appointment which should have started at 10, a call would have been nice too. The lady on the other said nothing: no sorry, no "there must have a miscommunication"....nothing. The only thing she did suggest is that I can find another salon. So, with that being said, I told her to cancel the appointment, informed her that my friend and I would not come back to their establishment and rebooked with another nail salon in the area who took us in promptly, did a phenomenal job on our pedicures and my friends manicure and lastly, communicated efficiently and effectively. And while I get it, services like this have their bad days but it doesn't mean that their customer service should lack in the essence of treating their customer like decent human beings. I would say that maybe I could try this place again but nah, I don't think so. Next please.

I went in just for an acrylic removal and asked for a nail trim/manicure. I assumed that meant my nails would be cut, buffed, shaped, and that my cuticles would be taken care of. I wasn't looking to get polish since I had a broken nail and just wanted my natural nails cleaned up. The person who worked on my nails had great customer service, which I really appreciated. However, I was disappointed with the actual service. Not all of my nails were clipped, they weren't shaped, and my cuticles weren't done. I did ask for my nails to be cut all the way down, and while I understand limitations with my broken nail, the rest didn't turn out how I expected. I didn't say anything at the moment because I wanted to give it a chance, but I ended up leaving unhappy. I've heard a lot of good things about this place, which is why this experience was surprising. I even had to go to another salon right after to get my nails fixed. I would like to give this place another chance in the future, but as of right now, I don't think I will.
