Often the line was busy so I had to use offering video phone call provider ( I'm deaf and I often would get my nails done ) but it discriminated me because I'm not currently or previous clients it won't accept new clients. I would definitely recommend it AND they've been in business 21 years- so obviously doing something right!! They had lots of no chip colors to choose from and she spent SO much time working on my calluses (above and beyond!) Today was my first visit here & the absolutely did NOT dissappoint! I was reffered to Olga for a thorough pedi! Absolutely one of the best I've had! I do work in a salon elsewhere but needed to be a client not a coworker today The chairs were phenomenal too! As i was almost done with the pedi we were talking about powder pigments (chromes like "holo" & "unicorn") as my salon doesnt have them I was able to also get a no chip mani in my holo finish The way she did my mani was quite different & unique. No water. No buffers. No nippers(which i only allow once in a blue moon) The best part was NOT having to soak off my gels! Soooo much faster & cuticles were gone! So impressive! I cant recommend it more highly than this review. I will be back the next time i need to cheat on my own workplace. Definitely make an appointment as its a smaller ,beautiful, "family" feeling salon. Waxing & lash extensions available too. I did make one mistake here... the best part was EVERYONE spoke english! No wondering whats being said in another language. I went in for a full set last Thursday as I was attending a wedding on Saturday. I sat there for over two hours as the tech did my nails and they turned out horrible. They are fat and uneven, the pinky nail already fell off by Saturday, They look ridiculous and are too chunky for my skinny fingers. I'm only an occasional manicure person, but my experience with Olga at Awesome Nails may change that. She does what she calls a Russian manicure. Using a little electric drill-like tool, with eeny-teeny little bits, she removed existing no-chip polish without acetone, and smoothed out my winter-dried out skin and cuticle. It felt much gentler than the manual filing you get in most salons, and her cleanliness standards seemed super high. My nails and fingertips never looked better or felt smoother. Olga is a perfectionist and a lively conversationalist, so while the manicure takes longer than normal(nearly 90 minutes for me), the time flies and results are well worth it. read more

Came to visit my best friend for the first time in Grayslake from Florida. Stopped in on a Saturday but they were booked and closed on Sunday so we made an appointment for Monday with Mary and Olga. The facility was very clean and didn't smell like chemicals. First we went to the backroom to sanitize our nails where they have signs posted about washing to kill bacteria - very appreciated. Then we were able to pick our colors. I showed them pinterest ideas with foils and Olga busted out a whole box of options. They were very flexible with us changing ideas and creative. They didn't do as much cuticle work as I normally get in Florida but I think it has to do with different sanitation regulations. The resulting manicure is very well done. I was uncomfortable with the staff pointing out that they weren't Asian and not to go to Asian salons. Nails good, racism bad. read more

She has been there for over 5 years and Cary (her mom) and Mary have been there even longer. Mary owns the shop. You get all the attention and the conversation was lively and fun. I was so thrilled that my feet got some much needed exfoliation and the little massage was a perk. My no chip mani by Angela was done so well. I have thin soft nails and she made sure to add extra coats of the base to ensure it lasted! This one star is not for their services, but rather for their idea of customer service. I recently moved to the area and am trying to find a nail salon, so I figured I'd give it a go. I walked in and this is how the conversation went. Nail tech, "Can I help you?" Me, "Yes, I would like a no chip manicure." Nail tech, "ummm no, not today." (insert long awkward pause) nail tech, "we don't take walk ins, but here's a service menu, and call ahead next time." As soon as I walked out, I threw that menu in the trash can. Not to mention there were only two workers in the salon, which is really small. That's fine if you do not take walk ins, but it should be displayed on your website or rather in your salon. First of all I want to say that this is a good nail salon and the owner Mary is so nice. I have been going here for about 9 months and Olga has been my technician. Olga is extremely talented and I felt like we had developed a wonderful relationship and considered her a friend. Yesterday with an ice storm coming I sent her a text offering to reschedule my appointment for today if she felt like it was unsafe for her to travel from her home. I live 5 mins from the salon and I was planning on trying to make it. I did not say I was cancelling. She sent me a text telling me that there is a reason for the 24 hour notice to cancel and she could have scheduled someone else in my place. She said that she would have to sit for 3 hours unpaid. I have never cancelled an appointment and I'm not sure why I was being treated so awful. I told her to cancel my appointment and that I would not be back. Love, love, love everything about Awesome Nails. My daughter and I are new customers, called yesterday for Mani/Pedi's, and they squeezed us both in today, on a busy Saturday. We were greeted right away upon entering by Mary, who gave us a quick, but thorough client form to fill out. The salon is very focused on nail health, which I've never experienced before and it was very refreshing. All the nail techs seemed to work quickly and efficiently, but made their work seem effortless, and they all seemed to keep up great conversation with their clients at the same time. My daughter had a great experience with Mary for her nails and walked out of there super happy. Mary took her time, and made my daughter feel special, which goes a long way in my book. My daughter and I don't do pedicures often, or ever to be honest. Today, I wanted to treat her. I had no intention of expecting an appointment today because it's Saturday and I get places like this are busy. My intention was to simply make an appointment. First, I was greeted by a dog. It's odd to be greeted by a dog anyway in a nail salon. It's also potentially harmful to anyone who might have allergies to animals as they would have no warning. But, whatever. Trying to make an appointment was frustrating. First, I was made to feel like it was an inconvenience, in light of her "regular" customers taking up all her time. Had there been a warmer welcome, I might have liked to become a "regular" myself. Then, I was flat out told it wasn't going to be easy for my daughter and I to do side-by-side pedicures. I understood that when one does this with someone else, you usually do it together. I was then informed there was no time at all this whole week. I've been in customer service for over 20 years and found the treatment my daughter and I received pretty poor. My daughter, on the way out , actually asked me if we had done something wrong as it seemed they were frustrated with us. That's exactly how I felt. Like I'd done something wrong. I made an appointment at Awesome Nails for a no chip manicure about a week or so ago. When I called for an appointment the person on the other end was extremely helpful in getting me in at a time that worked well for me. When I arrived my nail tech greeted me by name and got started right away on my service. It is true that the salon is small, but honestly, in this crazy world of eveything being big and over done, I truly appreciate the small, hometown atmospher that the salon has to offer.
