Zero Stars: Disappointed and irritated: I arrived for a scheduled appointment today on 04/06/2021 at 1:45 pm and texted upon my arrival. I then sat outside for front for 30 minutes with no response. So to sum it up, a total of (2) text and one voicemail and still no response. I am home now at 2:53 pm and still no feedback. Very happy with my new haircut by Stephanie. She did a fantastic job. She massaged my scalp while my hair was being deep conditioned and it felt great. She also took her time with the cut and made sure it was perfect. I felt that she really cared. The fun part was she took a coupe "before & after" photos and that was fun to see the big difference and nice change! I had recommended her to a girlfriend already and will go back to her for sure the next time I visit Karma. read more

Stephanie did my hair on a Groupon. I also paid additional money for a root touch up as well as highlights. I was visiting family for 3 weeks and couldn't get in to my hairstylist before I left so I went here. Looking at the Groupon reviews they were 5 star but I would not recommend going here to Stephanie. I told her I wanted my roots touched up and highlights touched up. I didn't tell her I wanted anything different than what I already had. I went back to my hairdresser back home for my touch up and she told me that she messed my hair up she not only damaged my hair in the front by putting Tim much bleach on it and then my highlights looked like the bleach was just thrown on in the back not weaved in. The root touch up color was way too dark than my original color. My hairdresser said it looked like she just tried to do her own thing. It's not hard for an experienced good hairdresser to figure out if a client wants the same thing you just follow the pattern they already have. Now my hairdresser has a lot of work to do! Lesson learned either wait until I get back or go early!! You can see the darkness in the roots my hairdresser had to lighten it to blend. read more

I had a Groupon for a facial here which I got done last week. This would be my first facial ever, and having been told by my friends that I would be leaving with my face severely irritated for at least a day I was a bit worried. I scheduled my appointment for a weekday morning, the receptionist was super friendly and got me coffee while I waited for the esthetician to be ready. The esthetician was also VERY friendly.. she took the time to explain everything to me so that I was aware of what was being used and going on. It was really relaxing and I couldn't say enough nice things about the staff that I met. The only thing I could say that wasn't the best was I felt like I was expecting more from the facial. I think I was expecting for the extractions to have a more drastic difference from before and after the facial. I could be wrong, since this was my first facial ever, and maybe I was expecting more because I've never had one done. Nothing against the esthetician because I'm sure she would have done more had I mentioned my concerns. I tend to keep my comments to myself. Either way, I would recommend Karma for a relaxing facial with a very kind staff to accommodate you with your needs. read more

Absolutely in love with the facial I received from here. Their esthetician took the time to genuinely look at my skin and give me the treatment that was right for me. Though sometimes these workers can be stuck-up, she was down-to-earth and extremely nice. The 60 minutes flew by! My skin is normally pretty dry but after the facial the dryness has diminished immensely. Highly recommend their spa here at Karma. I've found that their hair stylists can be stuck up or downright rude, so I would avoid their hair salon, but their estheticians know what they're doing. read more

I have been to Karma for massages and facials. All of the staff is very welcoming from the minute you come in the door. I love that Aveda products are used, too. After trying multiple salons in the area, I finally found one that could do my highlights the way I wanted with just a few lowlights and toner to balance out the color. I have to admit that I only go to one stylist (Maggie) since I think she is the best. I went to another hair stylist at the same salon once who way over-processed my highlights and damaged my hair, but luckily they left and do not work at this salon anymore. I have also gotten massages and facials at this salon that were good. The facials can vary on the type of skin and to address comments by other clients, if you ask for or agree to extractions in a facial, be prepared that these hurt and are harsh on your skin. If you have sensitive skin, just decline this option and ask for sensitive skin products. read more

She's amazing. Plus, if you like massages, she does your feet, arms and hands, neck and scalp. And she never leaves the room. Which I appreciate because I'm claustrophobic. Give Allison a try. I went in for a facial purchased from Groupon. Allison performed it. My face was horrible when I left, and, even a day later, my face still looks horrible. My face is red and is marked. The products used were not the real problem (though those were nothing special)- the method of extraction was. The extraction method used (far too strong for my skin) actually bruised it and it is red and pinched from where Allison performed extractions. I didn't notice this until I got into my car last night to leave the location. I am still upset. Allison should have observed what she was doing as she did it and realized that it was too much for my skin and stopped. I am not a newbie. I have facials at certain salons in Chicago and in certain North Shore suburbs- Elizabeth Arden (Deerfield), Michael Anthony ( Chicago-another Aveda salon), Jonathan Breitung (Chicago- great salon and spa), all total, approximately 4-6 times per year and each esthetician performed extractions at each of these spas. This is the first time the extractions harmed my skin. Clearly it is the person performing the facial and their level of skill. Just as important- the products being used are not specifically for the face (Aveda beautifying oil?- I use that on my body). I agree with other posters that it is nice when a facial incorporates a massage, etc.- but when I book a facial- it is the facial itself and the appearance after the facial that I judge. If I am at a salon for a facial, it had better leave me looking AT LEAST as good as when I walked in-NOT WORSE. If the service provider can't do that, you've actually caused harm. The Groupon is in the garbage and I won't darken the door of this place again. Another lesson learned- buy one Groupon service- not multiples, if you don't know the salon. HORRIBLE. Stress, tension and muscle aches are a thing of the past moments after I walk into Karma. Ambriel is by far one of the best massage therapists I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. So often you can tell when a therapist does this as a job but does not have passion in his or her work. This is never the case with Ambriel. Karma you have a gem in your hands. I had the best pedicure I have ever had!!! Karina was amazing. The tubs, room and all the instruments were SUPER clean and everything was sanitized. It was awesome to relax knowing someone was really caring for my health. I love the aveda products my feet feel so good and this is day 3. I have been to many places for pedicures from salons to resorts all over the U.S. Karma has put them all to shame! This place is fabulous! Very clean, everyone I've interacted with has been very, very nice. Went yesterday for a facial with Allison and OMG! She started with a face steam to open the pores, did a lot of extractions (I've been very lazy lately with my skincare routine); then followed up with a fabulous facial and masque. And, while waiting for the masque to set, she did a great massage of feet, neck, shoulders, arms and hands. It was heaven! Going back in three weeks for another facial with Allison. I need to look at some of the other services as well. Only downside is that Karma is in a strip mall that you can only get into when driving north on route 45. (Of course I'm going south!) :) But soooo worth having to do a U-turn (legal). read more

I have been a loyal Karma customer since they first opened their doors. I found Karma through my stylist, who I have followed to various salons for 8 years. I have always been incredibly happy with my stylist and the treatments I have received at Karma, such as hair cuts, color, facials, waxing, manicures, pedicures, and massages. While I was incredibly disappointed when I heard that my longtime stylist would no longer be working at Karma, the manager, Journi, has done a wonderful job picking up where my previous stylist left off. She has done a phenomenal job both on hair cuts and color. I have no doubts that I will continue to be a Karma customer for a long time. Had a 9am appointment with Allison for eyebrow wax and facial. When I showed up nobody was there and the door was locked. At 9:15 I was told I only had an appointment for a facial (not true.) Allison proceeded to do the facial with cold towels. She did a rushed eyebrow wax and facial. Very rude when I asked why no one was there at the time of my scheduled appointment. I was told it was none of my business. I tried contacting Lori (the owner) and she will not return my calls and has hung up on me several times. Horrible horrible, be aware. After years of being a loyal patron of Karma Salon and Spa, I leave it with a sour and bitter taste in my mouth. My mother, sister and I have moved a great deal, so finding a good salon has always been tricky. When we found Karma, we were greatly satisfied with their services; hair styling, highlights, manicures, pedicures and waxing. They employed one stylist who was exceptional, because she listened to what you wanted and did just that. I always walked away a satisfied customer. The one time I desperately needed color and my stylist was not available, I mistakenly let another Karma stylist color me. Never again. Recently, I booked a cut and color. An hour before my appointment, I get a call from the desk girl, informing me that they let go of my stylist, and booked me with someone else. Disheartened, I asked for my usual stylists number, begrudgingly, they gave it to me. I said, that I will be in at my given appointment time, despite not being my usual stylist, but I needed this cut and color. The desk girl called me back, with a distinct attitude, to inform me that someone else has been booked for my time, since I was obviously not interested in getting my hair done by anyone other than my usual stylist. I politely vented my frustrations for the entire situation, but this still leaves me in a lurch. Needless to say, I will now going else where for services. read more

I had my hair highlighted there yesterday. When I originally went in the first time I showed a picture of what I wanted. I have been back 3 times for correction since it did not turn out like I asked. I spoke with the owner Lori who felt it necessary to charge me an additional $75 for them not doing it right the first time. I originally paid $120. I did not get what I asked for and she was very rude had no customer skills and his probably been in the business too long. She started raising her voice when I mentioned I was not happy and said you left happy. If that were the case why would I go back 3 times. don't go there! I would take this review seriously as customer service is not a priority to her to make their mistake right. Her response was I left happy twice. if I left happy twice why my back a third time???? I don't believe that makes me happy. I am a college student and that is a lot of money to me. Lori it's time to retire and put someone else in a customer service position. For the basic (and the word basic does not do justice) facial, Allison is my new go-to person. Humble she is, as well as amazing, incredible and wonderful -- all understatements. The Elemental Facial that I purchased resulted in above and beyond customer satisfaction. She worked and worked and worked on my face, and then she pampered and pampered and more than pampered me. I am buying the discounted six package. This was by far the best facial i have had ..... And i have had Ritz Hotel and Four Seasons Hotel facials .... And wow was this comparable and then some! My haircut and highlights are fine looking, the receptionist and makeup lady were especially nice, the only problem was my stylist, Carrie, she never smiled or laughed, she was very hard to converse with and I felt uncomfortable the whole appointment. She seemed very uninterested and perhaps tired or that's her personality. Their sinks for hair washing was also the most uncomfortable, the next day the back of my head and neck were bruised. First time pedicure experience at this spa was enough to make it my last. Friendly staff, but technicians did not seem as skilled as other spas. Before polishing my toenails, cotton was weaved between my toes and my feet were put back into my sandals. After the polish went on, I was told I was done. No drying area for toes and the soles of my feet were slick due to the cream they slathered on. This made it very hard to walk in my sandals as I left. Fewer polish choices than other spas too. Cost was $40 for a pedicure. For 1/3 of the cost, I've had better service at other salons. Sorry, I cannot recommend this place. I did not get what I paid for. read more
