Do not use this company! We had our entire new-build home floors - hardwood and carpet - done through our builder with Lux in 2017. Every single room in the house that has carpeting has major buckling issues. A couple of years after the home was built, we had lux come out to stretch and fix this issue at our OWN cost, which was significant. And the carpet buckled badly again shortly after. I have tried calling to talk to someone. I can only reach Jackie at the main number. She is very nice but is unable to help. Each time she assures me that she is sending a message to her superior Claudia and Claudia's superior, Brian Wilson, requesting for them to cal me back. And NO ONE has ever called me back. Horrible product installation, even worse customer service. Although there is a one year warranty, no one expects major issues with such a significant purchase after such a short time. As part of a larger remodeling project, our builder recommended Lux for all the flooring in our home: new wood floors, a carpet runner for the stairs, and vinyl tile for our laundry room. Lux has a HUGE selection, and they provided expert guidance in explaining the differences among the types of flooring. We were unsure of which stain color we wanted on the floors. Lux came in and stained large sections of the wood in six different stains so we could more easily choose the color. In particular, our sales contact (Heather) was outstanding to work with. Not only is she a lovely person, she was highly responsive and quick to get back to us with answers to our questions. After the project was completed, we decided we wanted (additional) carpet runners. Heather worked diligently to get the carpet cut and bound to our specifications (long story but we wanted something a little out of the ordinary). In addition, some binding on one of the carpet runners came loose a year or so later (turned out to be our fault - perhaps we're a little overzealous with vacuuming). Heather & Brenda arranged for the runner to be picked up, repaired, and returned within a week. All during the time of Covid, when nothing is easy or fast to accomplish! I highly recommend Lux for any type of flooring needs. read more

Used Lux to replace HOA hallway carpets. First, they were very competitively priced. Second, they went above and beyond during the installation. There was a manufacturing defect in the carpet that resulted in some discoloration. They tried to repair it, but when it wasn't 100%, they ripped it up and replaced the whole section. They are super easy to deal with, and everyone I spoke with was very professional and helpful. I've recommended them to neighboring buildings here in Washington DC (Shaw neighborhood) and in 4-5 years when it's due for replacement Lux will be the first call we make. read more

New home build - scratched floors with sander during final finish then would only repair a portion of the damage. Floors have larger than normal cracking and even a spot where they sealed in dirty footprints under the final protective coat. Sales manager looked at issues and was "shocked" - saying this is not the way they do business - and then refused to return any future calls. plenty of flooring providers out there, recommend picking a different one. read more

About two weeks ago I moved to a new apartment. Before moving in the lament wood flooring needed to be replaced. The contractor that the apartment complex uses is Lux. They repaired the floors about 12 hours before I got the keys to the new place and upon first look, it was beautiful. But then we quickly realized there were dips in the flooring and after a week we noticed there was bowing in the kitchen. The contractor was called again and came by the next day. He said the dip needed more plywood placed under it and the bowing is worrisome and needed to be replaced because it would break. We made an appointment for the following Tuesday at 9am. Today is the day they are supposed to arrive. As the contractor requested, I moved the furniture from that area. They are currently 3 hours late and are not answering the phone when I call the number on their website. They did not complete work correctly the first time. They promptly came to assess the issue however haven't followed through. So disappointing considering that they have so many good reviews on timeliness on Yelp. Perhaps they care less about contracted apartment jobs rather than individual homeowners? read more

We had them install a hickory broad plank floor in our new kitchen and carpet in our basement. Everybody was super nice, but the lack of detail and follow-up was super frustrating. First Issue: We have young kids, and talked about the need for carpet that resists stains. We were presented with several options for carpet, chose and ordered one. Only after did we find out that they offer a stain guard option that were were not told of. When we asked about it we were flatly told it was too late. No options. Second Issue: There were some immediate issues with the hard wood floor. Some of the boards started to warp and the veneer crack. We also started to notice significant gaps between boards. We can see the plywood under the floor. In addition, the trim was either poorly attached or not attached at all. (I finally fixed it myself). After initially replying to us about our issues, repeated attempts to schedule repairs were ignored. Every time I sweep my floor and see the dust between the boards, or the stains on my carpet, I think about my friends at Lux. read more

Lux came out to install flooring in our home 3 times. First was our family room carpet, then office carpet and hardwood flooring (after we suffered severe water damage). The crew each time was top notch. They were professional and very, very nice. One time the crew was working so hard and so late to get our hardwood done that I asked if I could buy them dinner and the crew lead said thank you, but they would have to decline since they were there to get the job done. I commended them on their high professional ethics. Our hardwood flooring was builder grade and not available anymore so the Lux rep searched for another brand with the same grade/color. He also explained in detail how they would lay the wood so that it blended in with the rest of the kitchen's hardwood. I definitely appreciated that since replacing the entire kitchen/foyer was not in the budget. Lux's pricing for hardwood was very, very reasonable. Our carpets were purchased elsewhere, but Lux installed them so I cannot speak to the carpet pricing, but the hardwood was several thousand (I'm not kidding) cheaper than another flooring company in my local area. I will definitely consult with Lux again when I have my other rooms recarpeted and when I need new hardwood and/or tile installed. They were a pleasure to work, quick on follow-up, called after the service to see how it went, and all around a great company to work with. The crew was professional and efficient. Thanks! read more

It's only when something doesn't go quite right that you find out just how good a company is. We recently bought a house in Fairfax and looked high and low to find someone to refinish the original oak floors (that had been hidden by carpet for 30 years). After visiting a few others, we went to Lux - and looked no further. It was immeditately obvious that these are consummate professionals. We worked with Brian, who took us through all the options and was exceptionally patient with our almost endless questions. We got everything lined up and the crew chief, Orlando, and his crew showed up right on schedule and jumped right to it. They worked like demons and had the floors stripped down in no time. When the stain went on, however, there was a problem. In some areas it was great, but in the living room, it was uneven and looked like I had put it on. Needless to say, I called Brian and left him a message - we were quite worried that they were going to varnish right over it. Brian got right back to me (on a Sunday, no less!). He said, "Don't worry, we're going to make it right." After having spoken with Orlando, Brian told me that not only was he already aware of the problem, but they were going to sort it out first thing the next day. Wow, I thought. No fuss, no arguing - how refreshing. Orlando and the boys showed up and cracked on with the rest of it the next day - fixed the stain and did such a nice job on the finish over the next couple days that the floor GLEAMS! Everyone who comes to the house says the same thing: "Holy Cow! Did you have new floors installed?" When I tell them that these are 50 year old floors we had refinished, they can't believe it. I can't comment on the quality of the craftsmanship of this company, just on the poor customer service. In my experience, this is almost always a bad sign. I first found out about this company at a home expo show in NoVA. I was very impressed with Armani and how knowledgeable and professional he seemed, and after meeting him was very optimistic that this was the perfect company to fix and refinish our hardwood flooring throughout the house. His partner came over to our home, spent a good bit of time with us, and we chose 3 stain finishes. But then we never heard from him again. My husband even reached out to him to make sure he had the correct contact info for us--and nothing. This was a huge disappointment. The only thing I can think of that went wrong is that we asked if we could see examples of their work. He said he would try to arrange it but was not very forthcoming on that front. Other than that, it's a mystery why we were never contacted again, as we thought we had a great meeting, money was not an issue for the project, and we followed up with Lux after they came to our house. Very unprofessional. If customer service and transparency are on your list of must-haves, this is probably not the company for your home-improvement needs. read more

Lux did a fantastic job on replacing carpets in our home, and their estimate was significantly less than Empire.

Depends on what you are getting. They did a good job with our carpets. However DO NOT get tile work done. The attention to detail of the spacing is not great and after 4 weeks our grout started cracking and after about 2 months I had to hire another company to come out and regrout the floor. I would recommend for carpeting installation but definitely would go elsewhere for tile work. read more

I wish we could give them zero stars. I had Porcelain tiles installed in my kitchen by these so called "professionals" and let me just say I will NEVER use this company again. They installed the tile and grout in my kitchen and when we discovered the damage that was done, they refused to come out to inspect it. They blamed the damage on the materials. The materials were bought at the Tile Shop and were not cheap. The damage was discovered a few months later. There were cracks in grout, which I was told by an actual professional was due to the grout not being properly mixed. Then there were cracks to tiles which were caused when they were cutting the tile. I even sent the photographs of all this to the owner of this company but was ignored. I had to bring up Better Business Bureau in order to get a response from him. In the end it was a waste of my time. After many emails (the guy did not have the guts to call me not once) I just realized it was a waste of my time, and he was hostile to deal with. I am hoping whoever reads this will think twice before using this company. I hope to save you frustration and money. Please don't fall for their sales pitch, including their website which states the following: Lux is the only flooring company in the area that offers a full 15 year warranty on the labor provided on residential installations. So not true. They refused to come out, they just put the blame on the customer so they don't have to pay their people to come out and fix the issue. Talk about FALSE ADVERTISING. read more
