Needed to pop in for a quick gift and was disappointed to say the least. Store itself was great, easy layout and great product selection and why this is a two star vice one. Everyone may have a bad day, but there were plenty of staff to assist or at least acknowledge customer presence within the store and it was almost like I was a bother to be there for most of the staff. There was one shining staff member that was positive and engaged with another customer but had two other staff members walk right past without a thought with a near empty store. Lush is located on the 2nd floor south side at Providence Place mall. Lush makes fresh, handmade, cruelty-free, and vegetarian products for bath, body, hair, and more. There are also a large collection of gift boxes which make the perfect present and unique gift, whatever the occasion. Their gifts are beautifully uniquely wrapped in 100% recycled paper, upcycled cotton, T-Shirt offcuts, Lokta and Banana fibre to name a few. It always smells so good inside or when you walk past the store. When I walked in, an employee immediately offered his assistance and asked if I was looking for anything in particular. I told him I was looking for a scrub. He brought me to that section and went through all the scents. I appreciated the information and great customer service. I walked around and smelled the "Try me" products. The store is very organized and spacious. I smelled the Rose Jam and at once fell in love with it. Rose Jam is made with vanilla pod infusion, goji berry juice and nourishing argan oil to leave skin soft, hydrated and sweetly scented. The shower gel comes in 3 different sizes - 3.3 fl oz, 8.4 fl oz, and 16.9 fl oz - varying prices as well. I purchased the 8.4 fl oz for $25.00. Lush also has a Beauty Recycling Program. Customers have the opportunity to return their black pots and some other packaging to get $1 off next order or save up five and trade them in for a free fresh face mask. I returned a black pot and got $1.00 off. I think this is a great program. After Lush receives the returned pots and tubes, they are then shipped to their recycling partners for processing. That means shredding, washing and pelletizing. These new raw materials are then used by their supplier to make new pots that can be filled with even more Lush goodness, creating the closed-loop system. She was extremely knowledgeable about the products and offerings, and her kindness and thoughtfulness left a lasting impression. I only wish this place was a little bigger as it felt a bit cramped to me. Lots of unique, fun amazing smelling products. The bath bombs were super cute and there were tons to choose from! I went in looking for a lip scrub and purchased their Cookie Dough Scrub and it felt really nice on my lips and I loved licking it off!! lol. The Cookie Dough body scrub is pretty awesome too! After spending almost $100 here on what had to be the worst products I have ever used. I will never purchase from Lush again. The customer service was great and the employees were really knowledgeable & friendly & they were AMAZING on recommendation's tailored to what I was experiencing! So Kudos to the staff at this location because they were highly knowledgeable specifically regarding my dry and itchy scalp! They deserve 5 STARS WITHOUT QUESTION. The 2 stars are for the products themselves- which Deserves 0 stars but to balance out the product with the great staff I went with 2 stars! I went with the Soak & Float and for whatever reason- I'm seeing this as only $15 on the website maybe I had a larger size but I recall spending about $30 on this round bottleless shampoo bar - that was for itchy and dry scalp. It was also supposed to last 80-100 washes. Not only did it NOT last THAT long or even close to that long- but I went through the shampoo bar faster then I ever did with a shampoo bottle. I probably got 20-26 WASHES from this bar and I followed the directions to a T! This also did absolutely NOTHING for my scalp! It didn't soothe it- calm it- make it less itchy, irritate it, help it- nothing. It literally didn't do anything!!! I was soooo bummed that I wasted $30 on this & now I'm really wondering if I was charged for 2 but only Got 1 bar! I got my son the rainbow bar - which I'm seeing on the website as only $16 but I know I PAID MUCH MORE FOR THIS. Im wondering if thetas was an error with my purchase inquiry now! This was a cool concept and a great idea but the soap- didn't really seem to get sudsy or larger properly. He also used this within a few times in the bath. Overall I was very disappointed with these all natural products & I definitely hope that maybe we got a bad batch or something. 1. Neither product lasted close to what they said would- AT ALL. I got no more then 35 shampoos with my shampoo bar and my son used the rainbow soap maybe 3-5x before it was completely unusable. Products don't last LONG AT ALL. 2. I don't know if the prices have recently gone down on both these products but I can recall paying double what the website has these products advertised at. I hope I wasn't scammed! 3. The products didn't seem to work for me at all- which is odd because I've bought bath bombs & soap here in the past & had a great experience with both- but this time around was the complete opposite! And sometimes I'll be like "I think this smells similar to that." And they'd be like "uhmnn no it doesn't." I also find that they're really stingy with the samples. I live in Westerly so the Mohegan Sun store is actually closer. At Mohegan they ask me what other samples (besides the ones they've already put in my bag) do I want. Here, I've left here without a sample 3/4ths of the time. Even when I hint I want to try something ... I get nothing. Ho hum. I only go to Lush about 4 times a year. Sometimes I don't want to buy something to try it out. I might not have an opportunity to return it. So sometimes all I really want to do is sample it first. Stop being so stingy!! One time I bought a whole bunch of stuff only to find that my huge bottle of Breath of Fresh Air missing! Gasp!! I called them up and no biggie I got one when I came back in. So just double check. The customer support is amazing here! The two that helped us were so supportive and listened to what Me and my girlfriend were looking for the second we walked in! We talked about our trip to Disney and they helped us pick the perfect bath bombs and bubble bars. One of them gave us a few tips for the glow in the dark bubble bars and we are definitely doing that. This was my first legitimate Lush experience...the pushiness of the salesgirl was actually a good thing - but to her credit, she was fantastic and helped me pick up some awesome stuff and hooked me up with some great samples. Plus she was really perky and cute. I suck at remembering names...for the life of me I can't remember her name. My kids love tagging along for the demos here. Very cool bath bombs fizz into a bowl of water...and smell good. We never leave without buying one. My favorite is the orange blossom perfume stick. It has a unique smell that is neither too sweet or too musky. I always get compliments when wearing it. The staff are super helpful and sweet but walk the line of almost being too pushy. This was my first time in Lush. I loveeee that everything they have is vegan! They also were offering this special hand and body lotion that you could purchase. It came in special containers with different charities on the labels. You choose one you want and some of the proceeds will go towards that one! I choose one for an animal shelter. When I first walked in, the two employees were helping other customers. Which was great for me, as I personally prefer to look around before being greeted so I can have an idea of what I'm looking for. I ended up going to one of the employees when she was free and asked her a few questions. She was kind, and went over everything in detail for me. I purchased a few things to try. I love LUSH and always have. The only thing I don't like is their prices, but you pay for quality and their use of pure ingredients which I am such a fan of. I feel like every time I use a face mask from them it is so clean and almost like a breath of fresh air for my skin. The only issue I have had recently was when I went to this location. I bought one of their face masks and it was 1/2 empty when I opened it at home! I wasn't sure if I was misremembering how much was in my other face masks, but this was so disappointing for a small size at $13. I tried calling the location multiple times and no one ever answered. It's easy to get overwhelmed! A small store full to bursting with product can easily make for an unpleasant shopping environment but that has never been the case here. I stopped in looking for a cleanser for my boyfriend (who shuns all things scented and "girly") and was greeted by an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable employee named Sarah Jane. I told her my boyfriends skin type and skin problems and she easily directed me to the products that would work for him. She knew the ingredients of the products and the benefits they would provide for his skin, she was the perfect mix of helpful and attentive without being overbearing. In a mall half full of snooty shop girls who won't give you the time of day and half full of salesmen so desperate for a sale it's sad this was a breath of fresh air! Interestingly, a few months ago, a Lush employee (not sure if she still works there, but she did at one time), confronted my fiance in Target because she recognized him from my profile picture on here. Being that my name is Ryan (yes, a girl named Ryan), she assumed that he was me. Wrong. Anyway, she made some kind of comment about the fact that I said their sales tactics are pushy. Which they are. I still gave them 4 stars. And I still do this time. In my review I even explain that I know it isn't the fault of the employees, but rather the way the company simply operates. I'm not an all-natural-using-veggie-eating-patchouli-smelling person by any means. I didn't go into LUSH for the first time many months ago because it was all natural and I was trying to save the earth, but hooray for doing it anyway, Dude. This stuff rocks. The fact that it's all natural and hand-made is great, but the products are AMAZING. Every time I go in there I spend over $100 and that's half because of the price, half because I want to try everything. Things I LOVE: Ocean Sea Salt face scrub, Enzymon Face Lotion, Volcano Foot Mask, Charcoal Face Soap, Chocolate Face Mask, and Lettuce Face Mask. There are still a lot of things I haven't tried, but so far I can't think of anything where I've thought.. "yeah that wasn't worth the money". I just recently tried the "bar" hair soap, and I really thought I wouldn't be impressed, but it actually works really good, better than any shampoo I've owned thus far for taking care of the "frizzies", and that thing will probably will last me forever. Also, everytime you go in there they always give you a little something for free. I tend to spend a lot so I tend to get a lot haha. Also, some people that work there are more enthusiastic than others and are willing to "get you into" the products. Also, ask for samples of anything and they'll give it to you, and HUGE samples at that. Some of my samples I've been using for months, lol. Suckers :P I really, really, really love LUSH. Update 2/09: I just wanted to add now that I've been in a few times recently and the sales people have been REALLY pushy. I adre Lush and it's products. My fave? The minty salty scrub that's electric aqua in color. It smooths, softens, and hydrates in one go and the fragrance is so fresh and invigorating, I almost want to brush my teeth with it. While I was there, the dude who helped me was so sweet and friendly that it was hard to turn down his product demo... which inevitably turned into me spending twice as much that I normally would have. But I HAD to have that scrub and I HAD to have that divine (albeit goopy) shea butter body lotion. He did a really good job, he did. My only complaint? That it's on the top floor of the PP mall, across from JOhnny Rocket's and the cesspool that is the food court. Also, it's pricey. Oh, but that scrub.... read more

I absolutely love LUSH's products. I am super picky about what I eat and what I slather on my body, as well, and LUSH is one of the only brands that I feel pretty good about using. That being said, I have several qualms with this particular location. First off, I hate the Providence Place Mall, but that is not LUSH's fault, so I want to clarify that no stars have been docked for this fact alone. However, the store itself is extremely small and cramped, and with just a few shoppers and the staff alone, it is not exactly comfortable to move around. My major problem with LUSH is the service. On my last visit, I had come in knowing exactly what I wanted. When I asked about the two products I was looking for, I was told that they had a busy weekend and were all out. This alone was not a huge problem, as I'm not so attached to things that I need to have them immediately. However, the sales associate told me that they had received a shipment that morning, but hadn't opened it yet, and that they didn't know what was in each box so they couldn't find the products for me. She told me I could come back in two hours if I wanted them. Having worked in retail before, I know that regardless of what the employees say, they can tell what's in their shipments, so all of this did not sit well with me. Furthermore, with the store being so small, you would think that the employees would take note of who has been approached and who has not. I was approached by at least three of the sales associates on my last visit, all offering up different opinions on what I should buy and oftentimes repeating themselves. Some of the employees were super friendly and very helpful, but unfortunately they were overshadowed by the ones that were not. I have received stellar service here in the past, and some of the sales associates are lovely, which makes me feel slightly guilty about this two-star review. However, my last few experiences at the store have been so unpleasant that I likely will not be returning to this store. I think I'll be doing my shopping with LUSH online in the future. Sure, I'll have to pay for shipping, but what I won't have to do is pay $2 to park in the horror show that is the Providence Place Mall Parking Garage, walk on the nightmare that is the third floor of the mall, or risk an interaction with an unpleasant and unhelpful employee. read more

I was really excited to see that they had a Providence location, but now I intentionally avoid the place. The salespeople literally POUNCE at you as you walk through the door and push everything they can on you. I can feel thier eyes on me as I walk through the store, and they everything I look at is their 'Abosolute Fave!'. Lush is not a place I would ever feel comfortable going in on my own, so shout out to Alicia K for dragging my bum in there when I ask her to. Girly stuff just isn't really my thing and it never really dawned on me to spend money on soap and all that...usually Dove and some clairol does the trick for my grooming needs. Located across from the grease scented black hole that is the Prov Place food court, Lush is a clean delicious smelling location to escape from the mall goths and college kids chowing down. As soon as you walk in expect every person that works there to greet you and insist on you trying all sorts of products that you don't know you actually need. As I had not planned on buying something the first time I explained I traveled for a living, and a little green hankie tied full of products was put in my hands. Some items were full sized and some were smaller than normal, but it was a good introduction to some key products. A good $25 investment, if I do say so, it also came with a shampoo tin which makes it a deal in itself. My favorite things are the massage bars, essentially it is body oil in a bar form, i use mine while I'm still in the shower right after i shut the water off so that my warm skin is able to melt and absorb the lemony goodness of the one I purchase. I have some skin sensitivities and haven't had a poor reaction to anything yet, either which is a major major plus. When I mentioned this, they also told me 30 days, no issues. The sales staff is super, super aggressive, and luckily as I bring a major lushie in with me, they tend to back off a bit. Otherwise I would probably be more apt to purchase things online. read more

Lets put it this way...when I use regular store bought products, and use them, I can totally tell based on the fact that my skin reacts so poorly to it. After using Lush products, I really feel my skin has has improved...I mean...I don't look 31...do I? :) Lush can sometimes be defaulted as a women's store...but it has TONS of stuff, actually I'd say about half of the product, for men. I started out slow with them and purchased the "Fresh Pharmacy Face Wash"...it's pink, and they cut it off a huge block. I use it in the shower and it's so soft on the skin but I can tell it gets every ounce of oil and grime off. One the size of a normal bar of soap will cost you almost $10 but it will last you a couple of months, a little goes a long way. I once ran out of the stuff and used store bought face wash (ya know, the stuff with acylic acid) and my skin nearly peeled off. For men, also consider getting Cosmetic Lad which is an after shower moisturizer. It smells great and is essential especially in the winter when it becomes very dry. I also have the Dream Cream which can be used for ANYTHING (smells great, and is in general a jar of magic), Ocean Salt (which is great to use once a week as an exfoliant), Tea Tree Spray (great in the summer after becoming a little warm). Dirty Shaving Cream...you'll never go back to anything else! The lip salt and beeswax are great as well. What I really love is the friendliness of the staff, their willingness to help you get something based on what your needs are. They never try to pressure you into buying things and are willing to give you a tiny sample of something to bring home, try out, and decide whether or not you want to commit. Some stuff IS outrageously pricey, but lots of it is reasonable. Guys...seriously...go get yourself some Lush! read more

I went in looking for a face scrub last week some time in the afternoon. Didn't even know they had changed locations from down the hall until I walked in. It's huge!! So much more room for product which is great, because I found something new that I love. The woman who helped me recommended two different scrubs: ocean salt and cup o'coffee. I ended up buying one of each! I love the ocean salt as a body scrub and the cup o'coffee as a face/mask scrub. The way lush treats there staff is very disgusting, Lush employees are very under pressure I am not a lush employee but I have heard many stories from friends and research hence why they seem to stick their noses in your business is because they are required to be pushy. It's not there fault, they are told and I think they keep stats up and if they don't reach a certain number something happens I read something like that and I've been told so I mean it's not really there fault. this is a very small store compared to other shops you may have seen on youtube videos or pictures, so that just makes us ppm shoppers a little more uneasy. If you are going to the store pretend your on the phone the whole time, they are really nice people but if you are one of those people you can just be on the phone, because if you tell one you're okay then another will come, the last couple of times i've gone they have been less rude, they have hired new people they seem to be off your space now, the store changes quite a bit so I don't know. I usually just look at the products and if an employee would come by and i denied any help and they were still there I would just look at the products no rudness just no eye contact yes/no/I'm just looking around her. Every lush shop you're going to you are going to feel under pressure it's been a regular thing i've read on blogs and such some places better than others. I've gotten "Aw that's all your getting?" ...You don't know if I'm giving someone a gift or I have more products at home. Lush is not completely natural so Lush lies a bit I still love there products but you know, I still use it and it's good they test there products on humans hence I will keep buying online I love lush products It's just a hassle 7/10 times going in to the store but like I've said it's gotten better. ***!Lush make your customers and employees feel comfortable!*** They do.. give fake compliments like other people have said on your hair or shirt, claiming the product you just picked up 1 second ago they claim the product is their "Favorrritee" but the reason you all here it so much is because they are trained to. I don't like feeling like someone is breathing down my neck In a very small lush store the one in providence is small and I feel anxious because whenever I turn someone is trying to talk to me. A "Hello may I help you? !" but after my no i feel nervous and sweat on the back of my neck, I feel like customers should feel comfortable. Ask your customers if they would like there hand put in a water ball and shampoo rubbed into there hands, my hand was literally snatched I got scratched to from her nails. I love Lush. I could very easily end my review there and it would sum it up perfectly. But, the more info the better! I was STOKED when I learned a Lush was coming to PVD. My only other experience was in their location at the Markham ON mall. This is a heck of a lot closer for me! :-) The smell when you walk into the store is phenomenal; not overpowering by any stretch, but just a clean, natural smell that grabs your attention. The store is quite small and is located on the dreaded 3rd floor of PPM (dreaded to me at least, as it seems this is the floor where the teeny boppers congregate). For Lush, I teeny bopped myself right up there. The staff is always super helpful. I mean across-the-board helpful. And friendly. And, they truly believe in the products. As well they should, since Lush offers some of the most amazing products I've ever used. For the record, my personal favorite is the Buffy bar. Buy it. Try it. Love it. The products are a little on the pricey side, but I never regret the money spent. And, if you do find yourself sticker shocked by your items, just go take a bath with one of the Bath Bombs and I'm sure you'll be so relaxed and happy you'll forget why you freaked out! read more

Went to the store today to get a birthday gift. I brought my son who's 5 for the first time. He was so excited to be there in general, but got overjoyed when he found out there was a make your own bath bomb tutorial going on! He waited patiently while he was being told all about the bubble bars & how they work. When it was time for him to make his bath bomb he was super happy, when the gloves were a little big for him he got discouraged & said he didn't want to do it. & walked away. That's when an employee (I believe Rae -unsure of spelling-) gave him "a random act of kindness" & he got to get the bath bomb he was supposed to make for free!! He was beyond himself! More like 1.5 stars for me. Does any employee in this store know anything? After looking for a specific product that they did not have, the employees answered all my questions with "I don't know" or a variation of that phrase. With no avail did they locate my product or recommend anything comparable. I had to take matters into my own hands and call the next two closest stores on my own. I normally wouldn't have a problem doing this, but having worked in customer service, that service is usually customary and part of the job. Thank goodness for Jared because after waiting around to get some sort of help, he recommended a great product, apologized for the poor service experience. I left happily with not the product I went in for, but one very close to it for the same price point which was a win. Overall, I think most of the employees here need more training in adequate customer service (especially who seemed to be the manager) and if they can take any pointers from Jared, they would be highly beneficial. read more

Go to checkout and realize.. "wait, it was only 8.95... why did it ring up for so much more." I haven't tried many products from Lush, but what I have tried I absolutely love! Honey I Washed The Kids Soap, is heavenly. I will be re-purchasing that soap. Hottie, massage bar also smells great and is nice when massaging into the skin. Lush as a company I do like some of their products. Something to remember when purchasing something is that it has an expiration date. I can't speak much about the staff, for I have been there once and the people were friendly and helpful. read more

I've now been in Lush twice. First time was early April, second was last Friday. So nearly 2 months apart and the sales girl remembered me! I'm pretty impressed with that. Yes I agree that the sales staff is a bit pushy, but at least with the woman I've dealt with both times, she seemed very knowledgable and was very helpful. She helped me to pick out products that would be better for my skin type etc. On my first visit I bought a shampoo bar. Although I'm still a tad weirded out that it doesn't really suds, I do love it! I also bought the dry shampoo (I think it's called No Drought?). I haven't decided if that works or not yet. Haven't used it enough yet to tell. My recent visit I went looking for a mask or scrub for my face. I bought Love Lettuce mask and some toner tabs. I plan to try that tonight before bed - if I ever get off of Yelp! She explained that the toner tabs, which I thought were awfully expensive, can be sort of reused - you disolve them in water and steam your face with them before your mask, but you can either save the water and use it after to wash the mask off or take the tab water and put it in a spray bottle and use it as a spray toner for a week! So that $2.95 or whatever seemed much more worth while. Each time I've been there I've also left with samples - and not just any samples, but things that were relevant to what I was looking for. The first time was a conditioner (which I really should go back and buy) and this time was a facial cleanser. I will be trying that later this week. So far I feel that the product is worth the price - and I'm a cheap skate, so I think that says a lot! read more

I love me some LUSH long time baby. When I lived in PA there was not a location within my grasp so I usually mailed ordered everything. At least when it comes to my wanky, demanding hair it's tough to find a decent product that works well: their shampoos and conditioners have always offered me the best treatment for my buck (and considerably cheaper than the salon brands I would usually buy). Ever since a friend mailed me a little gift set for Christmas years ago I was totally hooked. Their other arrangement of products would be a hit or miss for me, a more notable, recent miss being their vegan lip gloss that melted into a disgusting pool at the bottom of my purse after less than 24 hours after buying it. (Ruined my Dooney by the way.) I love their bath bombs and bars- I've never had a bad experience with any of them and I adore the pretty little glittery flowers they mix into many of them. Their prices are very much reasonable for the most part (ahem, still bitter about that gloss) but I would highly suggest browsing reviews on their website before purchasing to get a better idea of what the product offers. As for this location, I was so, so happy when I found out PP was opening a LUSH. But sadly, the store is small. Really small. In fact, given their popularity, too small. When visiting around peek weekend hours it can get quite cramped and a little funky: too many strong smelling products in a way too tiny space equals instant migraine for me. The sales ladies are friendly and more than happy to point out products. Which is fine by me. ...Except for when I can't spend more than two seconds on my own without being physically attacked into purchasing something I'm not interested in. I certainly appreciate attentive, kind customer service as much as the next chick, but it draws the line when there's involuntary physical contact involved: on more than one occasion when I declined a sample treatment and made it clear I wasn't interested, a sales rep would literally grab my hand or whatnot and smear it on me without even asking. Sometimes I would like to try a sample. Sometimes I would not. Never mind I'm allergic to certain organic materials (ie avocado makes me break out into hives). If that weren't tacky enough, I -almost- feel guilted into purchasing the odd and ends at the counter: not only do they offer them but they literally attempt to -convince- me into letting them place them onto the counter. I love LUSH. I really, truly do. Many of their products are completely fabulous with reasonable prices. Ultimately, the ladies at this location are well meaning but really, a select few of them can be a little too aggressive. Actually, for the most part, way too aggressive. Like I said earlier, I am so A-OK with being treated like a guest with attentive, thoughtful recommendations but the grabbing of the random body parts and constantly offering random products 103 times over is crossing the line into desperation. This is the only physical location I've stepped into and as tempted as I was to try the Boston LUSH, I ended up skipping over it as I've read online quite a few of their reps are pretty much on the hunt for customers in the same way I've experienced at PP. I will definitely continue to buy my favourite staples from LUSH but honestly, I'd rather go back to purchasing them online. read more

First of all, let me say, I LOVE LUSH. I love their products, and I use them all the time. This review is based primarily on THIS location. The store is tiny, as they all are, and they have waaaaay too much staff. I just wanted to go in and look for the things I knew that I needed which I explained politely to the first three people that asked me if I needed help...staff members three through six, I was not as polite to. It was overkill, and I couldn't navigate the store because there were so many staff members taking up all of the space. Literally, SIX people approached me in a store the size of a closet and then didn't pay attention at all to see if someone had already approached me. If they can cut back on the number of staff, give people room to shop, and provide support but not attack customers, this location might be ok. read more
