If Ulta is looking to close stores, start here. In general I find it ridiculous when a retailer like Ulta doesn't open until 11am on Sundays. Luckily there are other locations open nearby and, perhaps better, there are Sephoras. But the part that really always frustrates me with this location is the service and the parking. No one offers help...they barely make eye contact. The parking lot is already insane and then employees take up all of the nearby spots. Oh well, there's a Target and a mini-Sephora in this lot and Cranston is a short drive. read more

I love coming here for all my beauty needs. I love that they not only have skin care, but also hair care (including a salon). They have my Bare Minerals and everything is well organized and neat. Today I had a phenomenal experience. I wanted to keep up the curls I got with my new cut. I had bad feelings about my old wand curler because who likes burning their feelings. I was overwhelmed with choices, even with google as a guide. My hairdresser had used a flat iron, but I had neglected to ask for her advice. (My current flat iron is awesome but too thick for curls.) Holly, the hairstylist helped pick out the right iron for my hair and, get this, sat me down to teach me and then had me try. Woah! Above and beyond! Thank you Holly! I wish I could give this store a no-star or zero-star review. I'm writing this review on behalf of my godsister. She came to this store and was recommended by a so-called "Professional" on a foundation color that made her look orange and didn't blend at all with her skin tone. She had trouble finding the right color and she has a malotto skin tone. I would never recommend anybody to this store. they're fraudulent, she spent over $200 and got recommended the wrong blend for her skin. They never did their job, and she got home very upset. 10/10 Would Not Recommend. read more

I'm sure I am not the only one who has experienced cold, apathetic, or simply unhelpful service at different Ulta locations. Not here! They seem to truly value their customers and I appreciate that. I'm not one for make-up, mostly because I'm clueless on his to apply it. But lately, my under eyes have become so dark, I look like I haven't slept in weeks. And to my dismay, NOTHING I've tried would cover it; we're talking Avon, Younique, and every line sold in stores you can think of. Someone suggested I try Ulta. I figured, why not? You never know, right? Ding, ding, ding...we found a winner! The very first jar of magical concealer they tried covered everything & didn't give me that funky whitish glow under the eyes. I look like I sleep again! Woot!! I also discovered they carry my favorite line of lotion...Philosophy! No more being limited to what they sell on QVC...score! I was very pleasantly surprised by my experience here. And the staff was so helpful. I noticed they do classes too...definitely looking into that! Only downside is they're a bit pricey. But, honestly, I rather find a product I love & pay more for it than throw my money out on a bunch of makeup I try & am disappointed in. read more

Walked into this Ulta store today (early afternoon 7/12/23), needing assistance with a foundation shade. Walked around for 5 minutes, and there wasn't ONE person on the floor. The only employee visible was the cashier. She was a young woman, trying her best to handle a long line of people checking out. I approached her and politely asked if there was anyone working the sales floor and she assured me she would call for someone to come out, which to her credit, she did. I waited near the brand display that I needed assistance with, and ... CRICKETS! No one ever showed up. Meanwhile, 3 more customers walked in, looking around. After about 10 minutes, I decided my time was more valuable than to spend it (and my money!) in a store that obviously didn't want my business. On my way out, I passed another customer, also looking for help. I believe she left right behind me. Kudos to the young cashier, holding down the fort. I mean, of course, they make sure there's someone taking your money up front, but don't expect anything more than that at this particular store. Plenty of places out there that will not only take my money, they'll show their faces on the floor to help if necessary. Spreading the word to friends. Bye! read more

I am a Sephora girl, but instead of making the trek into Providence I have been known to step into Ulta. Their rewards program is fairly nice (Birthday perks and the such) and they have both drugstore brands and higher level (Clinique, Benefit, etc) brands as well. The last time I went in, I wanted to check out some new IT Cosmetics beauty balm compacts that were advertised. The woman who helped me had caked on makeup, and when she offered to color match me, I should have known better. She started caking on the foundation, and when she was done, I looked like I was a new cast member of the Simpsons. My boyfriend even laughed, it was that bad. I mentioned the yellow and she said 'yes, maybe the lighter color will work better' and put some on my neck... without offering to help me get the hideous yellow off my face. She also seemed disgruntled when I obviously didn't buy the product, but seeing that I had a gift card, I went ahead with the foundation brush. I then proceeded to go outside after and use the snow in the snow bank to take off all of the foundation. I went up to make my purchase, and enquired about my February birthday gift (because I got an email about it) and I got a look like I had 5 heads. Alright, moving on, I started to pay. My balance was 26.05 and my gift card was only 25$, so I gave her the dollar and a quarter to make it up.... and she cashed out my cash FIRST before using my gift card. Thanks.... so now I have 20 cents on my gift card. Don't people know how to run a register? I won't be heading here anytime soon (except maybe to pick up that free eye shadow) and will continue to be a Sephora girl. read more

This Ulta location is just ok. All the aisles and displays are really close together and its overwhelming because nothing is spread out. The warwick Ulta is a lot bigger and spaced out way better. Also they aren't as well stocked at the WW Ulta. This is a good location though and they do have the basic stuff you might need. Overall I like the convenience. read more

I really like this location and am a huge Ulta fan. I'm the kind of person who goes in already knowing what I want mostly, or like to browse on my own, so I don't often use the customer service for identifying makeup that would work for me as it's so subjective anyway, but the few times I have asked for help, I've been very pleased with the service. The cashiers have always been really great as well, helping with discounts and returns. The only reason this place isn't 5 stars is because a lot of colors of various makeup seem to be out of stock often. read more

Not going to lie, I was pretty excited when I found out an Ulta was opening in the Smithfield Crossings. This Ulta feels a bit more smaller than it's sister Ulta in Warwick. It has your standard drugstore makeup on the left side and more pricer makeup on the right. As you move along further into the store you will find hair accessories, heating tools, skincare and of course the Ulta hair salon. It still seems pretty new and in the "transition" period as of right now. But that definitely hasn't deterred traffic. Every sale item on the shelves have been swiped clean! read more

I couldn't remember if I got it weeks ago or months ago but Jess helped me by looking up my account. It was actually in December '18 (good lord) lol. Anyways, Jess was super helpful and helped me switch out my foundation. She guided me on finding the right coverage I wanted, she picked out Lancôme for me. I was skeptical at first but judging by her experience there and how she explained the product, I was all for it and trusted her. She picked out the perfect coverage and correct skin tone color. I used to be an Ulta-only girl. But after my last few trips to Sephora, topped with yesterday's sh*tshow, I'll stick with Sephora for sure. It was Sunday evening, and yes, it was indeed the last Sunday before Christmas. Brought my 13y/o daughter with me for us to both pick up some foundation, as I had my coupon. Daughter loves the Clinique acne-fighting line, but it appears they were out of her color. The store was hopping and the line was all over the place--as to be expected for the holiday weekend. Here's the part that makes me nuts. There was ONE person on the sales floor. ONE. Three girls running registers, and those were moving at a good clip. We waited for 22 minutes for the ONE person working to finish her chat with a woman who was clearly not there to purchase makeup, gave up, and I sat my daughter down at one of the chairs and we figured out if another product would work on her. This woman knew we were waiting for her, and she also made absolutely no attempt to excuse herself to even acknowledge us, but kept on talking about how she is 60 and owes her skin's beauty to Clinique. Incredibly frustrating. Also, I typically ask if they have any samples at the register--as frankly, that's how I've ended up spending more money. I know the answer is yes, that they have something to throw in my bag after buying two foundations, but instead, the girl said that if I spent $75 on fragrance I would get a bathrobe. This never happens at Sephora. And even in their busiest times, their staff is polite and there are plenty of people floating around the store. Ulta, you could have done so much better. read more

It was my first time in the Smithfield Ulta beauty I walked in to return some items and at first it went smoothly but then I looked at my receipt and realized that one of my refunded items didn't go through. I was recently a Ulta employee in a different location so I knew something was wrong with my receipt. After shopping for a bit I asked the nice cashier which was the only good part of my experience today if she could look at my receipt and see what was wrong, she agreed with me and called up a manager or I'm pretty sure he was lead cashier (i hope he's not a manager). I told him what was wrong after telling the girl employee and he refused to refund me for the refund that didn't even go through so I basically gave them my item for free, he then tried telling me that there's no possible way to return it back to me after I returned it in the first place but as i said before it did not go through. He started giving me attitude and acting like he did not care then he put it in the system once more and realized he never refunded me in the first place and kept it behind the register... after realizing he was in the wrong and knowing I was in the right since I was an Ulta employee in the past he gave no care about me as a customer and walked away aggravated. The girl who took care of me was great she understood where I was coming from, I understand how hostile customers can be, trust me I've been there I was being very respectful to him and of course to her but from him I did not get the same energy back. I went for a blowout last Saturday as I was having a birthday party later and wanted to do something nice for myself. I had Maira style my hair. The blowout was fine and I liked the way I looked. However, as soon as I sat down in her chair, she told me my hair looked dry and that she would put some kind of leave in conditioner in my hair. I said sure why not, thinking that this was part of the normal wash/styling of a blowout and appreciated that she was customizing products to my. I definitely did not expect an extra $20 charge for this one conditioning treatment. The product she used and showed me only costs $25, so why did I pay $20 for just one application when I could have bought the whole bottle? If these treatments are extra services then fine it is what it is but the staff needs to be more transparent in letting clients know when something is going to be an extra charge. She knew what she was doing and was taking advantage of my excitement of getting my hair done, she could have disclosed the cost of this extra "treatment" but absolutely did not. Needless to say, this is the first and last time I will be using this particular Ulta salon. read more

Went here for my brow wax and first ever tint. Jane, the Benefit Brow tech, wasn't very friendly and tried to talk me out of the tinting. That can't make corporate happy. My daughter and I was at your establishment on 3/11/17 to buy cosmetics for my daughter. We went in to get help from one of the workers to see if they could match her skin tone with the right product. My daughter showed the worker what she had and stated what she was looking for, your worker stated "well this is the more expensive side, you want the other side" Was she implying that I was not able to afford her side of the store. To my surprise, (trust me I held back) I simply went to the other side, more confused as to what to buy as when I came in. I asked the girls at the front of the store for some help. They in turned called a worker from the "expensive side" over to help me (a different girl). While she was helping my daughter the worker who brushed us off, you know from the more expensive side was helping another woman on the less expensive side ... HMMM, seems strange that our money was not good enough for her, or maybe my color wasn't. The worker that help my daughter did find the right product for her and guess what? It was on the more expensive side. This is the second time I've had a negative experience at this Ulta. The first time was about a month or so ago I went in about 30 mins before closing and no one offered any help looking for anything nor did anyone even greet me. Given the fact I don't think it's a huge deal that someone doesn't greet me but I also think if two women that work there are at the front chatting, you would think they could at least say hi. So I was walking around looking for a specific kind of foundation but could not find what I was looking for.. I went directly for a kind of mascara knowing that they were closing soon so I decided to just get out of there but I was a little annoyed at the fact that I clearly looked like I needed help and no one offered any help. I assumed that they were just being lazy because they were closing soon but I came to find out tonight that they just give bad customer service. I came in tonight looking for a few amount of things so after walking around (clearly looking like I need help..) I eventually decided to go up to the front and ask for a specific kind of foundation.. the woman says she needs to check if they have it in store.. she talks through her walkie and then she says "we don't carry it in store, sorry" she doesn't offer any other suggestions for other foundations or any help looking for anything else so I have to say well can someone help me look for another kind of foundation.. she goes oh yeah sure and calls someone on the walkie and says they will be up shortly. I say ok... I waited for a few minutes and no one came.. I looked around and still no sign of anyone.. I just left and decided to spent my hundreds of dollars in makeup at another makeup store that clearly gives much better customer service like Sephora. Definitely would not recommend this location to anyone.. although I live right near this Ulta, I'm willing to drive out of my way instead of going to this location. read more

What a remarkable impression i got just from 1 phone call. Future reference: if Jeannie ever goes to answer the phone ANYBODY nearby should knock it out of her hand before she answers. What a rude condescending woman. I give her credit though, it sure does come natural and easy for her. 2 simple questions and all i got from her was "Whaaaat i cant hear you, you neeeeed to speak up". Classic A couple huffs and puffs later i finally was able to have my mind boggling question semi-understood. I simply wanted to make a hair appointment (i saved myself the horror and didnt). I am in awe as to how rude and miserable she is. I am a frequent Ulta shopper although much more online than in the store, but i am most definitely going to go one day to scope out Jeannie and see if her broom is in the parking lot.
