Great food, and great service! :) It's a small family owned Mexican diner with an attached bar area. The space is small, but we came in ~16 deep and they took care of us like family! We ordered a chimichanga and a molcajete. I've had many a molcajete, ranging from good to mediocre, but this one was one of the better ones I've had the pleasure of partaking in! Certainly worth the order! 10/10 - We'll be back, and you should as well! :)

I got the fish tacos and my friend got the garlic shrimp. They both came with beans and rice. I enjoyed my fish tacos very much. My friend liked the shrimp too. The staff were friendly. The place was average and there was a small bar attached to the restaurant.

Service was great from the beginning to the end. Very accommodating, very attentive, very personable. Great experience Ambiance was very relaxed. They had a couple TVs with the Warriors playing. They have the bar next door that accommodates patrons. We sat at a booth that needed cleaning. The waitress came over right away and cleaned with apologies. There was a large party WTH other customers and the mouse level remained average. I could hold a conversation with no problem. The menu had enough options to choose from. The prices are comparable to other similar restaurants. They are now serving menudo and Pozole. My husband chose Birria and was very happy. They serve beer, wine and cocktails. They have a long list of tequilas that are on the back. My Pineapple Passion was yum. It was part sweet with a slight kick of lime at the end of each swallow. It included fresh pieces of pineapple. I really enjoyed my taco salad because the shell wasn't the traditional shell. It was more salad ingredients than shell. I added some of their salsa as a dressing. The grilled chicken were in small nugget size and were very flavorful. We enjoy coming here.

We wrapped up our three night getaway here. No hard copy menus. Use your smart phone camera & QR the menu. Hubby had a problem. He went to his settings and disabled his WiFi which kept going to xFinity. Bingo. The menu popped up. Chips and salsa and tap water brought to the table. What to order? I still had fish tacos on the brain. I ordered it with black beans and rice as sides. Hubby got the taco salad with carne asada. Our food came quickly. I enjoyed my battered fish. I agree with a few other Yelp reviewers. Small portion sizes. Hubby's taco salad shell was small which meant holding less. Price point didn't match portion size. On the plus side - our server asked us afterwards if we wanted separate checks. It was easy as she keyed our entrees into an handheld credit card device. Easy peasy.

Food was hot and fresh! Service was great too. We ordered chicken wings, super quesadilla with steak, super nachos with ground beef, and chicken wrap with garlic fries. This was our first time here.

We had dinner last weekend. The service was good, but the food was not good. I had the taco salad, which was bland. Not worth the stop.

Will not be back. The chicken taquitos were horrible and dry with a few pieces of lettuce shreds and a slight drip of sour cream.

I had the shrimp taco--flavorful, though a bit on the mushy side. My husband had the chile relleno, which was good, but the sauce was very spicy (a heads-up for those sensitive to heat). The service was excellent, and the restaurant was clean and welcoming. Overall, a great experience and one we'd definitely recommend if you're in the area.

I was hoping they had mole but they didn't, which might have been too carby anyway. I was pleased to see that the menudo didn't have corn in it making it something I can have. The menudo was excellent, they don't skimp on the tripe and it tasted great, especially with the chili oil at end of the buffet. The Birria was also very good and I had to try the nopales con huevos which was okay. I wish I could have the tortillas that are made in site, my wife loved them enough to wrap a few up to take home. However had I not been writing a Yelp review I would have just had more menudo instead. It's just that good. I suppose one thing to know is about the long communal tables. In case that's a problem for anyone.

So after settling in line and realizing we were in for the long haul-my breakfast burrito craving instincts started kicking in,so I jumped on my phone and opened Yelp and saw this interesting looking spot wasn't too far away. With my spot secure in line by my buddy,I jumped in my car and headed to Taqueria California in Windsor. The shop is located in a multi tenant shopping center so parking is zero issue. Walking in I was greeted by the amazing smell of breakfast meats cooking with those beautiful Mexican spices,I knew I was in the right spot. The very friendly staff took my order of 2 breakfast burritos-I got a Bacon version and a Chorizo version-they cost $13.00 each Both came with a green and red sauce on the side and also a complimentary small bag of chips. I ended up trying a little bit of the bacon burrito, since it was my friends,it was pretty good and one can never go wrong with a bacon breakfast burrito-but honestly my chorizo burrito was amazing. It was perfectly seasoned-not overly greasy-and then paired with the two salsa-each bite was better than the next. The potatoes went so well with the eggs and chorizo and cheese-I enjoyed it very much. This was the perfect meal to start off what ended up being a big day of beer drinking at the brewery. In closing-if you ever find yourself in the Windsor area and are craving a breakfast burrito-I give this shop 2 major thumbs up and guarantee you will enjoy your meal from Taqueria California.

As far as Breakfast Burritos go, This was top notch. A nice ratio of meat, potato, egg with sour cream and a fresh tasty pico de gallo all combined in a great tortilla and wrapped beautifully for easy consumption. Service could not have been better or nicer. Chips and salsa both excellent; the folks in our group who'd been here before ordered the guacamole even before we sat down. I love how guacamole is slightly different in each restaurant -- this guac is super fresh and really delicious! One friend wasn't super hungry and so got the chicken tortilla soup -- just know their portions are LARGE. So soup truly is a meal in itself! Two of us got salads -- a friend got the taco salad, and I got the chicken tortilla salad. Honestly, I'd probably get the taco salad next time, but not in the tortilla -- the chicken in my salad was deep fried (I know, I'm in a Mexican place, what did I expect?) and so it kind of overpowered everything. Others got burritos, tacos -- and everyone gave approving "Moos" of enjoyment as they ate. Great drink menu, ice-cold beer. Definitely someplace I'd return to!

Better to go to one of the many other great Mexican restaurants in Windsor. While checking their…read moreonline menu, I noticed that only some of the burritos had prices listed while others did not. I called to ask why that was. The girl on the phone said it was because different meats cost different prices. She said that chicken and pork cost less than beef. I asked her what a pork "Macho Padre" Burrito costs since it was one of those that did not have a price listed. She said it was $14.99. I was very clear that this was the "big one that feeds two, right?" She agreed and said that it definitely was. Knowing this was a fairly large burrito, I double checked with her, and she was certain. Once I showed up, a guy proceeded to ring me up. He asked me if I was paying with cash or card. I asked him if there was a price difference, and he said yes. It was less expensive if I paid with cash. I chose to pay with cash and it still came up to $26. I can only imagine what it would have cost if I wanted to pay with a credit card, close to $30? I told him that the girl on the phone said it was $14.99 plus tax. His response was that was the price without meat. I explained to him that we never talked about a vegetarian burrito at all. He tried to avoid the point by reminding me that this burrito had pork in it. I responded by telling him once again that the price quote for $14.99 was with pork. He even said that he heard the conversation to be otherwise, to which I reminded him that I was actually on the other end of the conversation and that I had a better understanding of what we talked about. He argued saying that he wasn't lowering the price at all, and that it was going to be $26. I told him I wasn't going to pay that and he seemed to be OK with that as I walked out without the dinner I drove down there to pick up. Not only are they liars, but any place too embarrassed to post their actual prices for their more expensive burritos on their online menu is disreputable at best. I've never heard of a business practice like this, and hopefully I'll never see it again. Once I got home, I decided to call back, hoping to speak to the girl that gave me the false information on the phone. She did answer, but then immediately put me on hold. After holding for some time, it was obvious I was being blown off, so I hung up. I called right back and this time they let it go to voicemail. Clearly, she remembered my number and knew who I was, but was too cowardly to face what she did. There's too many respectful restaurants in the area that wouldn't do something so sleazy and unprofessional as this. Go someplace else.
