Dr. Luong is a really good ENT professor. She is particularly good for patients who have very complex situations, and have been unable to find resolution through general (albeit good) local doctors. Science is based on a bell-curve, and for most people who fall under the main part of the bell, many good local doctors can resolve the problems. However, for patients who are outliers on that bell, general (even if excellent) doctors are guessing for outliers on their bell-curve. For those cases, it can be as much an art as a science. For those patients with complex issues, they should (if able) to have a professor at a research hospital/medical school consult and oversee/assist on their care. Those professors (MD/Ph.Ds) are able to assess the hard cases since their bell is primarily those cases. It can be more science than guess. Of the ENT professors in Texas, I have had very good engagement with Dr. Luong and believe her knowledge is superior, and her ability and manner equally so. Dallas, where she was trained, has very good professors, but for those closer to Houston - Dr. Luong would be an exceptional choice. I have a really good ENT in Austin who sees me mostly but Dr. Luong is my Obi-Wan for the tricky stuff. read more
