30min to 1 hour wait. Not open on holidays (e.g. Christmas Day). Very nice pastry that is fresh and high quality

This is a popular spot so prepare to stand in line. Not many seating area inside. The croissants were fluffy and crispy, but not cheap.

Staying at a hotel across the street from Lune, I had to try what the New York Times called "the world's best croissant". There was about a 15 minute wait to get in and I can say the wait was absolutely worth it! I tried the classic, pain au chocolat and the ham & gruyère exceptional. If I had to choose a favorite, the ham and cheese stood out, but really it's like picking your favorite child - impossible! Do not miss this place while you're in town, it's awesome.

10/26/23 long line. I'm sure worth the wait??? Update = worth the 26 min wait!

We were encouraged to visit this place. Actually our friends told us if we bring them back pastries, it must be from here, otherwise don't bring any back; wow, LOL. Quality/Quantity - They are known for their croissants. Lemon Curd $9.80. Almond $11.70. Everything Croissant $11.20. We ordered more than usual, as I knew that I was NOT coming back due to the line. Plus we had some amazing pastries yesterday at the South Melbourne Market (see other review). All were good. Atmosphere - Very small location. Always busy; we waited 26 minutes to order. See my picture when I got in line. I am told this is a bake off; the pastries are made from scratch from another one of their locations. In the downtown area so they cater to tourists and business people. Open 7 days a week from 7:30am to 3pm. On weekends from 8am to 3pm or until they sell out, so if there is a specific pastry you want, you must get here earlier. Yelp hours differ. They also leave a dog water bowl outside for your furry friends. Service - Counter service. Price - Expensive, but worth it. Cashless business, so make sure you have your cards. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2012 and with your 5 locations and growing!

We heard this was the best croissant place in the world, so we queued up the long line. There were about 25-30 groups before us, but the line moved fast. The cashier walked out to tell the line people that they only had 3 options: traditional, almond and chocolate left. It was 12PM at that time. I finally picked up one of each, and brought our croissant to the nearby park to sit and eat the croissants picnic-styled. The almond one was really good! Not too sweet, and the sugar powder was just at the right amount of sweetness. The almond pieces were fresh and crunchy We weren't too impressed with the chocolate and traditional ones. Cost about $27 AUD for those 3 croissants. Overall, great croissants but not mind-blowing.

Your pastry choices are laid out before you in a line, each one a delectable and beautiful. We chose four and got lattes. No place to sit at Lune, so we feasted standing while watching the pastry chefs construct the next batches of cinnamon rolls and chocolate croissants.

    Almond Croissant, Lasagna, & Kougin-Amann

The bakery was a MUST for me. Me and everyone else apparently. I arrived not too long after they opened, and yes there was a line. It didn't take too long though. I went with the almond croissant, kougin-amann, and lasagna pastries. I had some amazing almond croissants before, and this was not it. It was good, don't get me wrong, but I've had better. To me, there are too many sliced almonds on top. The kougin-amann however was amazing. I loved the caramelization. The lasagna (monthly special) was my least favorite. Should you go? Definitely. It's one of those things you just have to try while in Melbourne.

Original croissant, kouign amann, lemon curd cruffin, cocoa rough. $40 aud total

Get here early! I got here at 7:34, 4 minutes after they open and I had 15+ people ahead of me. They close when they sell out. The fragrance inside is just divine! They do show you your selections at the counter. Everything was delicious. Baked to perfection. Amazing crumb on the original croissant. Well worth the $9

Butter croissants, triple chocolate croissant, morning bun, lemon curd bun

Over the course of 3.5 days we tried the triple chocolate croissant , lemon curd bun, morning bun and of course the butter croissants. Everything was buttery and baked to perfection. Our favorite was the morning bun but they were all delicious. Drinks are wonderful too. Hot chocolate, chai and regular coffee were great. Line can be long but moves quickly. Amazing bakery in an amazing city.

Recommend by my brother. It wasn't the hype I envision. Bought 5 items and the chocolate croissant was not what I expected. It was not flaky or airy or buttery. Daughter said Starbucks croissant tasted the same. Nothing special. The morning bun while good reminded me of churros costco used to sell. Bit of crunch sweet and salt. There are probably better bakeries in melbourne. Similar to the old Mr. Holmes in Los Angeles that sells similar items. The staff was pleasant and quick. Go early to avoid the line. Plenty of streets parking. No sits only limited standing spaces along the centre table. Would I pay 60 for 5 pastries

The croissants are a work of art! Visually appealing and delicious! We had the original croissant and almond. Both spectacular. If you are coming here in the mornings get here early as the line was 45 minutes and can be longer depending on the day!

Lune's croissants are out of this world. No, really - the New York Times rated them as the world's best croissant. Given her former aerospace engineering background, it's no surprise that Kate Reid, the owner of the renowned patisserie, has her crescent creations down to a science. For my 30-minute trip to the moon (aka the line that stretched out the doors), I made sure to order multiple pastries: the Croissant (A$6.60), Pain au Chocolat (A$7.20), and Kouign Amann (A$8.10). Sadly, they were sold out of their twice-baked Almond (A$11) already. Of the three, the classic Croissant was my favourite. It was a marvel to watch the pastry chef closely inspect each croissant to ensure that they were nothing short of perfection. In their unbaked form, I could already tell they were (super)stars in the making. Once baked and cut, they glistened with their flaky, golden-brown crust to unveil the soft, buttery honeycomb structure. The juxtaposition of textures from the lamination was phenomenal. I found myself picking up each delicate layer that fell onto my plate, not wanting a single morsel to go to waste. Finally, I have to commend the genius of the logo: not only is it a rocket ship with a croissant engine to pay homage to Kate Reid's aerospace engineering background, but the crescent shape also pays homage to the patisserie's name, being "moon" in French. This is all to say that it's all in the details, which stretch from the exquisite pastries down to the ingenious logo. Love you to the moon and back, Lune!

Long line up at 9:30 in the morning but it moved fairly quickly and we got our order in about 30 minutes. We ordered 6 different ones to try but the lemon curd one stood out for us. There is room to stand and eat but most people took out. Not cheap as 6 croissants plus a coffee and latte was $71 but worth trying.
