    Jam and Nutella waffles
    Acoupleoffoodlovers ..

We decided to visit Waffle On for a sweet treat whilst we were in the CBD. It is in a very convenient location on Degraves St, right near an entrance to Flinders Street station. We got one waffle with jam and the other with Nutella, as we were on the go. We thought the pricing at $5.00 was fairly reasonably in comparison to other competitors. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the service was pretty fast. The waffles were warm and extremely tasty. There was a very generous amount of both Nutella and jam, which was a positive. They were also a decent size, so they really hit the spot! Overall, we were very satisfied with the quality of the waffles, and look forward to going back for more in the future to fulfil our sweet tooth cravings. Check them out!

Degraves Street is always overly packed with people wanting to get a slice of the 'cool street café' action. Frankly, sometimes I can't be bothered fighting the crowds especially when I know at the end of this street there's an even cooler whole-in-the-wall that can stuff me full of creative, French baguettes, and waffles. We're talking waffles here people! Really tasty ones which you can quickly grab and eat on your way to work. Or take on the train. Or eat in between stores while shopping. Now this is the type of 'fast food' I really dig.

You've just come off a busy train into Flinders Street Station. You've push your way through the underpass and make your way up the dingy flight of stairs surrounded by others on their way to work. The saving grace that keeps you from lashing out and screaming at everyone is the smell of sugar and batter and honey and cinnamon and more coming from just across from you. Salvation! Seemingly short lived, the smells do not match the look of the place. The dingy nature of the establishment matches the stairs you just walked up. Do not ignore your initial reaction, the smell is a good indicator of things to come. Waffles are a magical treat that most of us don't want to know how to make. We just want it now and we want it tasty on our tongues and in our belly. And the best known for making waffles are the French (I think, maybe the Belgians). The owner, while not the nicest of people I've ever met, knows his product and you walk away not liking him but loving what he does. Lunch hours get busy, expect a queue of others willing to wait and soldier on through the conditions for the deliciousness that awaits.

One of my favourite places to grab lunch from on the run - a waffle and a baguette. What more could you ask for in life?

It has a stack of pancakes with Nutella, banana, and pork belly bacon in between each cake. It's topped with a fried egg and has syrup and Parmesan cheese on the side. The Thai iced tea was also FABULOUS. Great service and free wifi. Absolutely a top notch spot.

Hidden from the plain sight, this cafe is Located in a less commonly travelled path, in an alleyway that just a few blocks from Victoria Market. A bit tricky to find, but the experience, however, was certainly worth the effort to get here. I promise :) Upon walking in, I was instantly in love with the interior - a spacious dining area decorated with vibrant colors of blue, yellow and green; it's fun and calming... the type of cafe where I don't mind spending my whole day here :D. Humble Rays most iconic menu is the French Toast Forever (AUD$19). It's a beautifully plated thick French toast stuffed with vanilla bean cream cheese. Topped generously with boysenberry ice cream, nuts and seasonal fruits and garnished with eye-popping fairy floss - It was nothing less than scrumptious! Portion wise, it was ginormous and easily last me through my next meal. For my drink, I ordered their green tea latte; it was gentle tasting and smooth. Delicious! Short to say, Humble Rays does not disappoint in any way. From the gorgeous food to inspiring atmosphere. The price is as what you'd expect to pay at a fine cafe in Melbourne... heavy on the pocket! But if you're looking for a gratifying cafe experience with Instagram worthy food (that also taste beyond its appearance), Humble Rays surely delivers.

At Gelare in Doncaster Mall, half price waffles not only keep this popular ice creamery busy (think buzzing) but it makes getting through the week just a tad bit more exciting for residents who live near or around Doncaster. For others who are not so fortunate, we actually have to drive all the way to Doncaster to appease out tight-arse Tuesday waffle and ice cream obsession. Some say, it might be cheaper to just have a full priced waffle somewhere closer to the city but I say, the creamy and delicious flavours on a warm (half price) waffle with syrup and whipped cream make the experience well worth the drive. They also have low fat frozen yoghurt and sorbets, for the more health conscious. Besides, it's nice to get out of the city anyway and the evening drive is stress free and can be relaxing too. Just remember that lots of other people love this deal too so either go early or very late to avoid peak hour.

The name suggests a connection to the street or bridge in NYC. Am I correct? Located in the alley between Flinders and Collins, parallel to Russell, it was a bit unexpected to find this eatery here. With plenty of tables on the patio and inside, the atmosphere was inviting. Being alone, I didn't want to occupy a larger table, so I decided to grab my order to go. After glancing over the menu, my eyes locked on the 'Reuben,' thinking 'this can't go wrong.' The staff were kind and friendly. Despite not dining in, they allowed me to sit and wait at a table. After a few minutes, I received my order and rushed back to the hotel because I couldn't wait! Excitement led me to open the box like a treasure chest, revealing a huge sandwich - the portion I had been searching for. In Japan, where I live, the general trend is to reduce portions to maintain prices rather than increase prices to keep portions consistent in the face of inflation. Now you understand how crucial this is. Another crucial aspect - the taste was on point. With a generous portion of meat, it dominated the experience along with the sourness from the pickled cabbage. It was a bit too sour for my taste, but I assume that's how a Reuben usually tastes. Overall, I was really pleased with this place and would love to come back again.

Tried the Berry Cheesecake Instashake, and their Poke Bowl. The shake kinda scared me at first sight, and I wasn't sure I would be able to finish it, but it was love at first sip! The cheesecake on top was light but delicious. The poke was visually appealing but a little too salty for my taste. The shake evened it out though. Ambience: very minimalistic and millennial Location: easily accessible by public transportation (which I took). Didn't see much parking though. Customer Service: Delightful.

The interior inside the cafe is rather spacious but felt a little more budget, industrial and rustic thanks to the major applications of " ripped" wall and exposed bricks. Their menu is quite impressive, listing typical big Australian brunch menu (e.g: brekkie roll, fancy toast and hotcakes) as well as their "not-so naughty" menu (e.g: oatmeals, acai bowl, etc.). No matter what you ordered here, you can always count on the pretty presentation! For my first visit, I ordered: * Pavlova Instashake: They have about 3 "Freakshakes" flavors to choose from (the other two options are Chocolate Nutella fudge and Salted Caramel). The presentation was just as naughty as I had hoped - kiwis, berries, meringue and fairy floss on top of coconut and almond milk. Taste-wise, I was expecting it to be a jar load of sugar, basically a diabetes in a jar... as an art form, but it actually was very subtle and tasted healthy! I was almost disappointed that it doesn't taste as sweet as it looks, lol. * Red Velvet hotcakes: The presentation was orgasmic to the eye; brightly red color, decorated with vanilla mascarpone, berries and sprinkle with popping candy. Almost crazy, but yet still delicious, with the hot cake being mildly sweet and fluffy and the popping candy adds an interesting sensation with each bite. I must say, Naughty boy is as naughty as the name suggest. The food is utterly gorgeous and whimsical. The prices were a little steep with the Instashake costing $12 and the hotcakes $18 but I guess it was worth every dime just to be on the naughty side... once in a while :)
