This is such a beautiful store: the high ceilings and wide aisles make it feel open and bright, and they have nice sound absorption so it isn't too loud. It's a convenient location--right off France--and has plenty of parking, making getting here a snap. The store's layout is very logical, making it easy to find what you need (and the things that you want seem to magically appear--hello amazing chocolate selection right when I walk in!), and the people who work there eager to help you with whatever you need. It's an excellent place to find gifts for the entertainer or foodie in your life (even if that's you). I highly recommend it! While the price points are a bit higher than they may be at other stores, they are worth it--you will find high-quality gourmet items that may not be available everywhere else. read more

**Warning to Lunds & Byerlys Shoppers on Vicksburg Lane in Plymouth** A few months ago, my wife experienced two disturbing encounters with an employee named Alex at the Lunds & Byerlys on Vicksburg Lane. Each time, he followed her through the store, then suddenly got uncomfortably close, within inches, saying, "You're really pretty. How are you? I'm Alex." This made my wife feel extremely uneasy, and we decided to stop shopping there. This past Monday, our 13-year-old daughter asked to run into Byerlys for a coffee. Shortly after entering, she noticed someone following her. It was the same employee, Alex, who is an adult male, then got inches from her face and said, "Hi. You're really pretty. What's your name? I'm Alex." My daughter left the store upset and shaken. I reported these incidents to store manager Dillon, and later spoke with manager Christopher, who assured me that "everything has been handled" but wouldn't confirm if Alex had been fired. This review is for their Mezz section happy hour only. So, they advertise wines by the glass five dollars. On menu, in website and on bulletin chalk board. But surprise. They actually add a $1.60 secret surcharge onto every glass before tax. And they run tax on full price of wine, not the hh price. Don't tell you that beforehand either. In end, that five dollar glass is actually eight dollars. Why not say any of this upfront?! Feels deceptive. Left bad taste, so to speak. Bright location, you're greeted with flowers and the greens of produce at the front, inspires me to make good choices LOL. I know I'm not going to feel crowded here due to the space given in the establishment. Each section has more than enough space for multiple people to utilize at the same time. I'm unsure if this is statewide but this location has a partnership with Bachman's (flower shop) and the display is unbelievable. I thought it would be nice to try one of their sandwiches and at the very bottom of the list was this little sub with turkey, ham and cheese. OMG It was the very best sandwich I have ever had from Lunds & Byerlys. I have to do "delivery only" these days so it was a sight unseen gamble and it paid off. The bun was so soft and flavorful... This is a very overdue review, but it is for their wedding catering service. L&B catered dinner and cake for about 100 of our friends and family, and we heard so much good feedback on the food! The best part of the day though was the server we hired to work the event. She went above and beyond to make sure the meal was a success. She even stayed late to help clean up! Five stars just for her! My only criticism is that they kind of advertise at your event. This Lunds is what you'd expect from an Edina location. A high-end, over-priced grocery store. It is a very nice store. Clean, bright, and carpeted. Just what I want out of a grocery shopping experience. The issue is that a box of cheez-it's is about $2 more here than at target or cub. What I do like is the high end deli. Oh my, the sushi-rrito is honestly one of the brightest, freshest, lightest and most fulfilling meals I've ever had. It's a sushi roll the size of a chipotle burrito. Rockstar. I'll come for the $6 rotisserie chicken available on Fridays and stay for lunch. This location also has a big bowl and a tucci banucci inside by the deli. As I was writing this review an employee pushing a cart abruptly cut in between my wife and I and then ran over my foot with a full cart. This is the best place from which to order tasty, inexpensive cakes for work occasions. I stress work occasions because I've not ordered them otherwise. Doesn't really make a diff, as you'll be happy you got your cake here, whatever the reason. I started ordering cakes from L&B when I was working in Bloomington. I was surprised at how inexpensive they are and how delicious they are, too. I'd ordered cakes from a famous place when I originally worked in DT Minneapolis. Highly overrated and the shortening frosting is just plain gross. Frosting isn't supposed to leave a coating on the tongue. Well, this doesn't happen with the cakes at L&B. The only problem I have with their cakes is that they're way too easy to eat. I don't usually want more than one piece of cake. These cakes always say "more. have more" with each bite. One thing to note is that you pay for the cake upon pick up. Their bakery opens early, so you can swing by on your way into work without any hassle. They have gluten-free options that I'm told are delicious, as well (I don't do gluten free food unless it naturally comes that way). Another good thing is that you can order the cake online. It's really good to do it this way, as you can see examples of the cakes and can even upload pics that they'll recreate on the cake for you. Even customizations don't break the bank, so you can go for it without feeling scared of how much it will cost you. The bakery staff are very friendly and eager to be of service. This review is just based on the "dining experience". I've never much been one to get an actual meal from the deli area of a grocery store. I guess that's partly because I rarely get takeout, unless I can just eat it right there. I don't like taking it home and giving it time to get a little colder, see. But that's just me. Anyway, Lunds & Byerlys... okay, first off, let's just talk about the annoying name. Used to be there was Lunds (no apostrophe) and there was Byerly's (proper grammar FTW), and they merged. And now all those locations are called Lunds & Byerlys, with Byerly's losing both top billing and the apostrophe war. Booo, says I! I like apostrophes, and I like shorter names that aren't time-consuming and cocky! Don't think that choice hasn't negatively impacted this Yelp review, L&B! (Whoa, they totally should have just gone with L&B.) Anyway, to characterize their recent remodel as a "remodel" is a bit of an understatement, considering they demolished the old building and built this fancy new one a few steps away. And it is fancy! It's a nice facility to walk around in. And it seems they were particularly serious about modernizing the deli takeout situation because it's kind of like a groovy little buffet marketplace over in that part of the store. There's a hot bar station and a Tucci Italian station and a station that seems to have an inventive take on burritos. And there's a salad bar, and a sandwich joint, and a couple of other things like that. Around the corner the aesthetic continues to their cheesemonger and bakery. All of this comes across as really cool, and I haven't even mentioned "The Mezz", which is a very inviting upstairs eating area with a straight-up bar, as well as a community room, a fireplace, and a nice deck. This is the only time I've come here and hunkered down for a meal, so maybe future visits will impact my rating, but the quality of the food I got, which was a slab of turkey meat, potatoes, broccoli, and gravy, was pretty meh. It was of a quality that I would expect at most grocery store deli takeout places, but it probably cost a couple bucks more here. I did see some other things I'd want to try; there was neat-sounding stuff in the sandwich place, and Tucci is a fine pedigree for that Italian station. Between that and what a nice environment they've put together, I know I'll be back. But the food will need to be closer to restaurant quality for me to keep it in mind as a good option for chow. read more

The one star is for the Mezzanine on France in Edina. They have a great Happy Hour, but if you're stopping by, especially on the weekend, to have a beer or glass of wine while watching the game, DON'T BOTHER!! The television in the Mezz hasn't been operational for WEEKS! And apparently they don't care about their customers! I've been complaining since the TV died and nothing has happened! The new and improved Byerly's is a thousand steps ups from their old building. Too bad it's hard not to compare it to the Whole Foods competition from down the road on France. I went with my cousin this past Sunday, the place was busy of course being lunch time and Edina. Highlight - the Candy Tower and selection, only a picture can explain it. Lowlight - the design and crowdedness around the hot food and salad bar area. This is where I would prefer to be at Whole Foods because Byerly's was a mad traffic jam of condensed people with grocery carts. I felt like at any second I was going to take out a child or grandma by just turning around. It's way too small of an area for that many people, food stations and shopping carts. For the high prices you pay at Lunds, you have a right to expect outstanding service. From the deli, to the butcher shop, to the bakery and checkout I have not found that to be the case. Today, after waiting for a solid 10 minutes at the deli counter, I was passed over by the clerk for someone who had just arrived. Ok I really gave it 5 stars just by first glance. Outside is clean. Inside is clean. This is probably the biggest Lunds I've stepped foot into and the choices of food they have in here is amazing! I came here for their Makkirrito (Sushi burrito). I did not expect their Makkirrito to be so cheap. Its cheaper than some of their sushi rolls but you get so much out of the Makkirito. I ate half of mine and was full. I ordered 3 of them to test out. I shared it with coworkers. I ordered the Braised Pork belly, Spicy Tuna, and Crunchy Crab. If you hate green onions, make sure you tell them otherwise you will feel the same as I when I bit into one. It ruined the taste for me. The braised pork belly was really good and flavorful. I was actually surprised at how good it was. Spicy tuna was kind of tasteless to me. Didn't really have a good flavor that stood out. Crunchy crab was decent too. The crunchy crumbs they used are a bit different from what I'm used to at sushi restaurants but they somehow made it work. I would still prefer rolls over the Makkirito. read more

I came here to meet a friend. The new Byerly's is beautiful and sooo roomy. We met at the cafe. She suggested to go up to The Mezz. There is an elevator. It's dark wood theme and very cozy. There is actually a bar with alcohol. They have a private room that can be reserved. I think it's for 8 or more. You can bring any food you like up here. Do meet a friend here instead of the nearby Starbucks dump. This is so much more than a grocery story. You'll be here all day if you actually shop. read more

In my previous review I gave this Byerlys five stars. Since then they built a new store at the same location. Now I no longer shop there after at least ten years of this being my go to grocery store. The size of the store is smaller than the old. Aisles are crowded, lighting is poor, and layout doesn't make sense. In downsizing the store they dropped some of my favorite items. They added more mediocre fast food outlets such as Big Bowl, Tucci, and a terrible Ramen. The fresh vegetables are pathetic and they seem to have added more junk food and unhealthy pre prepared items. They seem to trying to complete with Trader Joes not much fresh stuff and lots of take out style items. I now shop at the Lunds Byerlys at 62nd and Penn. This store still has the traditional layout, wide aisles, good lighting, and a good selection of quality products. read more

I always enjoy coming here...it's clean, well laid out, and has good pricing (for what I need). I usually stop in for bottles of sparkling water, as it's always on sale (2/4$) and you get eight 20oz bottles per package (which is fantastic). They have a ton of parking, a clean store, and helpful employees. My only compliant is that it can't get extremely busy and the registers can get backed up (so I always make sure to expect a wait). I went in through self check out and this is around 10 in the morning and an elderly man was wearing a face mask that was not properly on his face and as I was asking how to enter in for a salad I created he coughs literally right in my face and I had to give them a look for him to get the idea to get away from me because he was coughing so hard if you have somebody that's employed and he's coughing like that and not wearing his mask properly he should not be on the floor he should be at home if I catch Covid it's because of him I've maintained the 6 feet no contact with not even my family near me so if I get sick I am suing this location! read more

After a thorough, slow walk through the entire store, aisle by aisle, I was pleasantly surprised with this store! It's got some really great unique items. Yes, the prices are steeper than Trader Joe's down the street, or Cub/Rainbow (of course), but they're also a bit more affordable than Whole Foods. Their prepared foods especially (for lunch)! On Fridays they sell their rotisserie chickens for $4.99. They have daily specials that make lunch much more affordable (esp if you're comparing it to Whole Food's prepared lunch items). They may have more limited selection, but what they have is good enough for me! Here is what I can remember of the daily specials: Tuesday/Wednesday (can't remember): 2 pieces of fried chicken + 2 sides, Thursday: Meatloaf + 2 sides, Friday: Seafood selection + 2 sides (today was encrusted cod, which I got with mashed potatoes and veggies - the cod was good albeit a bit dry, which makes sense since it's laid out there and previously frozen. The mashed potatoes are a bit tasteless, but their veggies are very flavorful!) Saturday: BBQ ribs + 2 sides. Of course these items could change any day, but check my review date! Other sides included potato au gratin, roasted carrots (in the shape of balls). They also have a sushi selection and Chinese food (Big Bowl). Soups and sandwiches. Olive bar. They also have a Caribou inside (without outlets, but free wifi) and a post office. All in all they carry a wide selection of items, a good number of items - including most everything you expect at a grocery store and more. They do not have (at least when I went) rack of lamb, but they do have lamb shanks! And it feels cozier and more neighborhoody than most all supermarkets I've ever been to. If I ever move to Minneapolis and grow to old age, you will probably find me grocery shopping at the neighborhood Byerly's. read more

The store is a master planned community in Edina, however the management does not respect nor care about the people that live near the store. There are loud trucks in the store parking lot between the hours of 12-5 making crazy amounts of noise while residents who live near there can't sleep at all. After countless number of complained, the management of Lunds still does not care about being a steward of the community it supposedly serves to at least make it an environment where people can live in peace during the middle of the night. I have noticed a steady downgrade of L&B brand frozen soups. While you can get 4 for $10 quite often now, the quality of the soup has gone from hearty to watery. I recently purchased the single-serve "Chicken Corn Chowder" and found that it had two pinky fingernail pieces of chicken and two one-third of a pinky sized chicken pieces to equal four tiny pieces of chicken. The corn niblets were limited to about 10. The base was tasteless and runny. About a month prior to this, I had purchased a quart of their prepared chicken noodle soup (deli not hot bar). When I heated it up at home, I could barely stand the first bite. I actually tried a second bite, but it was awful and I returned it to the store the next day. Inasmuch as bread and soup are my favorites from L&B, I don't have much of a reason to return to the store. read more

After many years of being a loyal customer I regret writing this review but this store has no customer service any more. CS is what used to set them above all competition. For Covid 19 I have exclusively used the order online and pick up and orders are never correct. At first the excuse was they were adapting to such a different business model but now it has not gotten better. If you place an order and intend to pick up in a day or two be prepared they will pull perishable meat etc. on the day of order not day of pickup. Ended up with gray beef for labor day bbq. I reported to store manager and was assured of a credit. It has still not happened despite one inquiry. Whether shopping yourself or picking up watch your expiration dates at this store. This is the best grocery store I've been store. The staff is friendly. The ambiance is nice. Prices are reasonable. Way better than the national health food markets. I love these local places. The food court is awesome!! The Tonkotsu Ramen at this grocery store is way better than anything you can get in Phoenix in a high end restaurant. While it may not measure up to the best places in New York Chinatown, it sure beats most restaurants in the greater Minneapolis area. The breakfast and lunch bar usually have pretty interesting food. Way better than corporate cafeteria food. And much better than most health food chains. The fried chicken here is very healthy and tasty. I ate here every day for the two weeks I was in the area. I've purchased Planters Honey Roasted Peanuts from target and Walmart and all have been too salty. On my way to work I stopped by Lunds & Byerly's (cause they're the only ones opened by my work) and this tastes the best. It's not too salty and good amount of sweet. My coworker used to say manufactures tend to send better quality food and products to Lunds & Byerly's but I couldn't tell the difference when it came to fruits and vegetables. WOW!! Took my daughter here today to pamper her as she struggled with her little ones. She found everything she needed and the kids had a rest-filled lunch.
