Affiliated with Community Living North Halton, the Lunchbox Cafe and Catering is an incredible community hub that hires diverse and disabled people to give them job skills. The space is warm and inviting -- feels like a family-friendly diner.
I have been here several times for breakfast, since Aug 2025.
You place your order at the counter, and it will be served to your table. Note: They have a small (and lovely) staff, so do expect to wait a bit for your food. Especially if you go right around opening at 8am -- it's often just one person taking order and cooking! So be patient.
The dining space is large! With different sized tables to serve different sized groups. They have 2 accessible non-gendered washrooms, which are shared with the programming space next door.
Food wise, I love their traditional breakfast offerings! They do a better job and quality than your typical Sunset Grill, etc. I enjoy their Eggs Benedict which has a great hollandaise and is generous in portion! On all breakfast plates, you get to choose your potato option: hashbrowns or bites. I always ask for the hashbrowns, which are perfectly toasty! I also appreciate the fresh slice of tomato on the plate too.
Come right at 8am to get their Early Bird Special for just $8.99!
There is a freezer for takeaway frozen meals and soups as well.
Unfortunately, they are only open for breakfast and lunch on weekdays. But they offer catering, and also space rental for personal and corporate events.
A WONDERFUL thing they do is allow customers to "pay-it-forward": You can pre-purchase a meal for someone in need. They also have a small retail area by their cashier selling small hand-made items by local artists and makers. It really has a "support local" vibe here that is precious and meaningful!
Check them out if you are in Milton! read more
