Great guacamole and barbacoa tacos! The Chile en nogada is very flavorful and well seasoned.

To start the chips and salsa were amazing. With the first bite you could tell that it was made fresh. The flavor was amazing. The Good tasting margaritas always help too, next time we will try some of their signature drinks. We Ordered shrimp and fish taco's which were very good. The Chile de nogada, Again bursting with flavor, not just your average dish by any stretch. The staff was very friendly, they came by to check on us a few times and strike up a conversation. And chef Jorge even stepped out of the busy kitchen and took the time to see how we like the food. He has a passion for his Kraft and Sharing it with his patrons. The last picture I can only describe as the following way. I know it Doesn't look like much but What it is what is left of a beef enchilada and the Mole sauce. The Mole sauce which is what we were most impressed with. Subtle flavor of sweetness but then layered with paprika, hint of chocolate and other spices. Wow. !!!! We will definitely be back. A simple dinner invitation left me wondering where the heck I was after what I will call Mr. Toad's Wild Ride to LunaZul. Do you ever think Google maps is run by kids sitting in cubes laughing as they get people lost? Once I found this destination after a trek through county horse and corn fields, as well as a hemp field my olfactory nerve recognized right away, it was time to exhale and have a Mojito! Don't let this unassuming little restaurant in a strip mall fool you. I would gladly get lost all over again to get here. The Cali Burrito was delicioso with shredded beef and side of Queso. I spooned some salsa over it for an extra kick of que rico! The guacamole was fresh with generous lumps of avocado. The soup? Yummers! No customer service whats so ever... went there for lunch on a rainy Friday and sat at the bar.. I ordered Burro Fajitas and my wife ordered shrimp tacos. Food came out fairly quickly.. my order was wrong giving my just plain Fajitas. Then my wife found a long black hair in her food mixed in the melted cheese, we alerted them, they made a new one. No apology, no compensation or offer for the trouble. We asked and they gave us a 50% discount on the entree. For me its not about the money, its the principle which they have none. I love Mexican, but LunaZul is just okay. It's far better when you eat in versus when you get carry out. The food in the restaurant is really good, but the carry out is mediocre at best. Maybe it's a temperature thing? I don't know, but every time I get carry out, I swear I won't go back. The table service is good, but service at the carry out counter always leaves something to be desired. The food was about average for Mexican food. The yucantanes enchiladas were good and different from the typical Mexican menu. The rice was a little under done. The Mexican sampler was kind of bland. Yum! Tried the steak huaraches which had great texture and was topped off with fresh vibrant avocado. The shrimp taco was good and full but the tortilla needed to be a tad bigger to be a handheld. The star of the show was the pastry in the empanada. So flaky and made fresh! The meat could've used a tad more seasoning. Chips were crisp and yummy and the salsa packed a kick but was good! Not your stereotypical Mexican food. The menu is well rounded it traditional dishes done in a slightly different manner. Right from the start the chips were excellent but don't fill up on them the really treat is the meal that awaits you. What a shame that they cannot employee solid help. As with the last time when I called to place an order the person answered the phone with "Hello" then silence. I had to ask again . Is this LunaZul? After asking this question they finally answered with a yes. So much for Hello this LunaZul how can I help you. When I went in to pick up my order, I was early and it was not ready (no issue). I asked the girl, can you bring it out to my car when ready as you have done in the past - answered with a "Sure" After sitting in the car for another 30 minutes, I went in to check on my order and it was sitting under the counter. When I asked what happened the girl said her boss told her they could not do that anymore - livability issue. He told us our order would be ready in 15 minutes. 40 minutes later, we called to see what was going on because they still had not brought it out. We came to LunaZul at around 6PM on their first Friday open and were fortunately able to be seated within 5 minutes. The menu is very impressive with a wide variety of options, including a lengthy tapas menu that's well priced for the portion sizes. We tried the Queso con Chile (so good, and spicy!) flautas, Burro Cali, and Habanero enchiladas - all of which were delicious - fresh and full of flavor. The staff was very friendly. Keko went out of his way to check on us multiple times to make sure we were happy with everything, and went above and beyond to accommodate us and our requests. The decor is minimalistic and unique, which I really liked! Small hiccups are to be expected when a business of any kind first opens, but the staff seems to be responding to them very well. LunaZul is quite easily a home to some of the best food in Hampstead, and I know they will quickly build a strong relationship with the people of this town. This is my second time stopping into this small town Mexican spot and I'm wondering why it took me so long to come back. Chips are served with two fresh salsas - a red salsa and smoky green salsa. I ordered from the lunch menu and got the California Burrito. They let me sample both the specialty beef and pork before ordering (they offered!). I ended up with the pork and was surprised at how absolutely delicious it was. No bites remained! At the end of the meal, I started talking about the carnitas I make at home and they brought me a sample just to compare! Great food, great service, great prices. My wife and I visited on Cinco De Mayo and we had a great visit. The food and drinks were delicious and the portions we received for the price we paid was exceptional. I got 3 loaded hard tacos and my wife got 3 loaded soft tacos. We shared Nachos and I had a beer. Our waitress (nose ring and heart tattoo on chest) could not have been any kinder. She answered all my questions and helped guide us with toppings and the meat for our tacos. She was ultra friendly and had her eyes glued on our table and waters. We enjoyed her service greatly and hope to see her again. On a somewhat bizarre and unprofessional note.... While eating, we noticed someone walk in who appeared unhappy, and he engaged with what appeared to be the owner/GM. The owner and this man made quite a stink in the middle of the restaurant and we both were shocked as the ebb and flow lasted for a good 3 minutes. The owner could be seen pointing to the door and shaking his head and making dramatic hand gestures to the boxed food that was brought back in. All eyes in the restaurant turned to the scene he was creating, finally, the patron huffed and puffed out in a defeated matter, box in hand. Afterward, a small crowd formed around the man at the bar as he spoke to the staff in front of the customers, apparently explaining what had just transpired. His hands were flying obnoxiously around the air, he was spinning on his stool pointing in every direction and his face was red like a radish. He finally calmed down and the Medieval Times Tournament was over. It was an extremely dramatic and unfortunate way to handle the event in my opinion and could have been handled more delicate. The food and service are reflected in my 4-star review and we will certainly be back for more. If this review makes it to management I would highly suggest allowing someone with a softer more gentler tone handle customer engagements. read more

Been meaning to review Lunazul for a while now. I've been a number of times since they opened several months ago and can't say enough good things about the food. I've had just about all the tapas on the menu and they've all been good. My favorite is the Chile en Nogada, Shrimp Taco and Panucho but I can't really think of a bad one I've had. The entrees I've had have been solid as well - the chorizo can be a bit greasy - but outside of that the chimichanga, enchiladas and taco are worth your time. If you like black beans, the Milpa soup was also tasty and filling. The one downside of this place is the service is very hit or miss. It seems like they consistently have new staff. Every server is pleasant and seems to be trying. If you get a server that has been there a while, service is generally good. Other times I've gone and we've has missing dishes, lack of refills, and generally slow and inattentive service. Not sure what the issue is but a lot of time I feel like a couple people are doing most of the work while others are standing around near the bar area. One small pet peeve is that I've asked for the spicier habanero salsa a few times and I think I was only told the first time I was there that there would be a $1 charge for it. I don't mind paying it but I feel like that should be mentioned if I ask for it. Anyway, I still order from Lunazul because the food is fantastic. It just that i tend to order carryout more than I go to sit down now. The last few times of mediocre service soured my experience even though the food was great so I just call it in now to avoid that entirely. Hope that Lunazul can improve in this area but don't let it discourage you from some of the best Mexican food you'll find in Carroll. read more

The conversation was that we were in the way. She had a 16 top coming in and she needed our table. Ok, I understand so offer us another table or a seat at the bar.
