To be honest, I have never come across such a shady store! I went to change my tire, and they quoted me $450 for a run-flat tire! Let's not talk about whether the price is reasonable (of course it is extremely unreasonable). I said I wanted to go somewhere else to install it, but the person told me that it would cost $10 to install the tire back for me. If I don't pay, they won't put it back for me. it was a sunday morning my tire presssure light was on, so most shops were closed. this is the place actually open so i went to them. asked the guy to help me check on my tires since the light is on. all he did was to put air on the tires and said it was good. i ask him does he need to take the tires out to see if i hit a nail he said no it's the weather. ok, next day the light came on again. bring it to another shop took the tires out and there's a nail. i knew it was something wrong but he wouldnt check for me. plus he charge me for putting air in the tires. read more

I went to Luna's today after reading a previous good review. A light had come on my dashboard saying a tire was low, and last time that had happened it was a slow leak and the tire was flat three hours later. So I drove the car by, they checked all the air, and said none were leaking, they were all just in need of air. No charge for the diagnosis, no trying to get me to buy tires I didn't need. And I was on my way within five minutes or so of stopping in. (I tipped the guy $5 just for making my life easy!) read more

After changing a flat tire with the spare, I headed to Luna's Tire Shop, located at 144 4th Avenue in Brooklyn to have the flat tire repaired. I've worked with Luna's in the past, and have always been treated courteously and received competent service. I even became friends with their pet Pit Bull. While my tires are not brand new, they are well within standards that enabled my car to pass a recent yearly inspection. When I arrived there, pulling up to the curbside where most of the work they do is performed, I was met by a middle aged latin man who very grumpily asked "what do you want?" I was taken back by his rude demeanor, but decided to let it go, replying that I needed to have a flat repaired. The man demanded to know which tire, whereby I opened up my trunk and showed him the wheel with the flat tire on it, pointing out the nail sticking out of the tire's tread. Again very gruffly, he rudely said, "can't fix it". When I asked why, he belligerently shouted that the tires were worn out and no good, and it was impossible to fix it. I explained to this chubby fat man that as I rarely drive the car other than to move it twice a week, that I didn't need to purchase new tires from him, but just wanted to have the tire repaired. Again, he refused and told me it was illegal for him to fix a worn out tire. At this point, I asked the employee what his name was as well as whether the owner was available. He replied he didn't have a name, and that the owner wasn't there on that particular day. It is for this reason that I refer to him as the "chubby, fat, middle aged. latin man". No disrespect intended, just wanted to be able to remember him if I were able to reach the owner -- which I was not. At this point, I remembered another street side tire shop further down 4th Ave and headed there (Danny's Rim Shop / 482 4th Ave). To cut a long story short, the people there were happy to promptly repair my tire, confirming in the process that the tire was in good condition with plenty more miles left in it. They charged me $10 for the repair which was very reasonable, so much so, I gave the gentleman who repaired the tire a $5 tip for his excellent service. Luna's Tire Shop will not receive any additional business from me. read more

I would be lost without Luna's! I have gotten a nail in my tire twice, thanks to NYC's street work. They got the nail out and patched up my tire, both times, in less than 15 minutes and only charge $15!!!! How great?!?!?!?! Just wish there was a little more parking, but that's manageable. Came here late at night with a tire leaking air. The guy said he will charge me $10 for checking the air leak and in case he finds a hole he will fix it for $5 extra (total charge = $15). 5 minutes later it was all done. Fast, cheap, great service. My back tire was leaking air slowly over the course of a few months and I finally got a chance to get it checked out today. In 15 minutes the tire was patched and back on the car, for $15. Definitely coming back for any tire-related issues. read more

DO NOT go here.... Unless you want to risk your life! I came here midday and no other customers were at the shop. I came in for a simple patch for a nail in my tire. The patch is fine so far, although only day 1, BUT I almost died on the highway since they guy didn't even tighten the bolts on my wheels when he was done. Don't ask how that happened even though he used a power air drill. The tire began shaking at 65 mph and was forced to exit and pull over to local streets. Much to my surprise, all 5 bolts were so loose that I was able to remove them with using two fingers. No apology or anything when I called to explain what had happened when they so-called fixed my tire earlier in the day. I only hope they got my patch right.... read more
