Luna delivers bold flavors in a cozy, modern space. The cocktails were spot on, and the service was warm and attentive. Highly recommend the cachapa , a sweet corn pancake with savory fillings that hit every note. Great spot for date night or catching up with friends. Can't wait to go back and try more!

Whenever I need a taco pick me up, I head to Luna. The crispy fish and club tacos are my favorite! They're always stuffed to the brim with ingredients, hot, and packed with flavor. The $5 margarita is a sweet deal but their regular shots and cocktails are tasty too. I typically sit at the bar and it's always good vibes. Their staff is friendly and attentive, with great menu recommendations. The meatballs are my fav appetizer but the avocado bites are a close second. They also have some loaded fries that taste amazing, but be prepared to take a nap after eating them. It's typically pretty lively inside and you'll likely hear some live music playing from the brewery next door. It's a really big space with indoor and outdoor seating options to pick from.

The food at Luna was amazing! So why only 3 stars? The service is lacking, but the quality of the food saves them. I have tried to go to Luna twice. The first time, I didn't realize there was a concert at the brewery next door. We waited in line for a long time, only for the cashier to be extremely rude and short. Nonetheless, I understood. They were extremely busy and staff seemed very limited. No big deal, I thought. A few months later, a friend and I decided to stop by on our lunch break. The place is relatively dead. There's two tables and two people at the bar. We wait to be spoken to because there's no sign directing you to sit or come to the bar and order. You do order at the bar, but there were no menus near by. I've been wanting to try them so I knew exactly what I wanted to try-- the arepa burger. Nope, no arepas, no flour tortillas, no corn salsa. Apparently, they were pretty busy on Sunday so they ran out of almost everything on the menu. Luckily it was taco Tuesday so ALL tacos are $3. That was nice, so I order the shrimp, salmon, and club taco. My friend was hoping to order the burrito, but it's unavailable so she gets the nachos. We waited for probably about 40 mins for our food. Unfortunately, it took so long we had to ask for it to just be packed up as a to go order. I didn't get to try the food there, but when I did get to eat it. The food was really good! I think if you're wanting to try them. Your best bet is gonna be a week night dinner. I wouldn't recommend if you're wanting somewhere quick or if it's any other big events going on around them. I really want to give them a higher rating, but after two not so great experiences I'm not too sure. I think they're just severely understaffed and I hope that they are able to thrive.

By far my favorite Mexican / Latin food in the city! The cachapa is an elevated Mexican corn pancake with childhood nostalgia of a McGriddle. Tacos and arepas slap! And don't forget the spicy melon margarita. Maybe best I've had! Service could be better - you definitely need to prepare to wait as they are normally low staffed. Ambiance could use some work but if there's music at Avondale you can sit outside (bring a dog) & listen!

First trip to Luna. I loved every bit of the food!! I usually don't opt for burgers but I chose this one because it was in between an arepa instead of a bun. Their menu has lots of authentic options to choose from. This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants downtown!

This is one of my favorite places in Avondale. The servers are always friendly and the food is always amazing. Also, their cocktails are delicious. My favorite meal is the Cachapas. It is a sweet corn pancake stuffed with cheese, drizzled with a sour cream-based sauce, and stuffed with meat. And, when I say stuffed with meat, I mean A LOT of meat which makes this place even more amazing. In the past, I have ordered the roasted pork as well as the shredded chicken. Both were delicious, but to me, the best one is the roasted pork. Regarding appetizers, I have tried the Mexican street corn as well as the Guacamole Fritters both were really good. Their mojitos are also really, really good. They have three flavors lime, passion fruit, and raspberry. I have tried the passion fruit as well as the raspberry and asked them to leave out the mint in both drinks. My wife prefers her drinks with the mint, so I have tried the drinks both ways. My favorite of the three is the passion fruit. What makes them so good is the fact that they use fresh fruit, and make their own syrups.

Tasteless food, serious health issues, rude & pushy service, refused to compensate for terrible experience with a dish. Even the cachapa was tasteless, and wasn't even cooked with corn flower. More like a sad wet pancake taco. The rice was old and wet, beans reheated for multiple days, beef salted so much it turns the tung. Mold, mildew, overflowing trash all over the bathroom an hour after opening. The bartender is the host, and the chef is the server. Not even an attempt to make a Latin friendly atmosphere. You'll get a more apparent atmosphere at an Applebees for what that's worth. You can still smell the transmission fluid from where the building used to be a mechanic shop. The only person who would come here and have a g0od experience is the tasteless moron that thinks Olive Garden is Italian fine dining.

This is such a great place! Food is excellent! The drinks were good. And our bartender was really nice. The wife got roasted pork tostones, a d I got Mexican corn, Amado tacos, and roasted pork tacos. Amazing! Oh, and plantains! Thanks yall! We will be back!

I genuinely could have ordered almost anything off the menu; everything sounded delicious. Unfortunately, I don't have the budget or the ability to consume every dish off the menu, so my boyfriend and I settled on splitting 2 small plates and 1 entree. What we ordered: -Smoked Fish Fritters: a Cuban delicacy. Still thinking about how good these were. Plenty to share! -Snapper Ceviche: personally not my thing, but my boyfriend loved this. I honestly wanted to like this, but the raw fish started to weird me out. -Jerk Chicken: served atop a tomato/bbq risotto that was devine. The inside here is so cozy and slightly tropical. They have a huge alcoholic selection too if that's your vibe. I'm so excited to return and try some more dishes!

Cayo Coco restaurant missed the mark for me. I really enjoyed how the dining areas really lean into…read morethe tropical theme. I ordered the Espresso Martini ($14); it was lacking something in the flavor, but that could possibly be from me going against the grain when ordering. I had the jerk chicken, it was not a true jerk chicken ($29) it was basically grilled chicken with sauce so when expecting something more authentic it was disappointing to say the least. The tamarind caesar ($15) was also different than I expected; although I would make a trip for it, I would order it again when visiting. The best thing I tried was actually the typhoon brusssel sprouts ($12), I was very happy with them and honestly would have been okay if that was the only thing I ordered. The wait staff was great, very personable and being willing to dicuss the menu and give suggestions. Espresso Martini(Vodka-Carajillo) 7/10 flavor is not what accustomed to might have been better with the Rum normally fixed with. Tamarind Caesar- at first glance definitely not my regular Caesar. Definitely not an average Caesar the lettuce is grilled giving it a smoky flavor, caught off guard but I would order again. 8/10 Jerk Chicken- overall was a good dish first time trying farro wasn't sure what to expect made me think of oatmeal, the mango salsa and sauce on the chicken was good the chicken itself was a bit dry but still good. Overall I would give the dish a 7.5 I rarely order chicken out and I think this was a reminder why. Typhoon Brussel Sprouts- had great taste 9/10 I could come back and get a drink with the Brussels. Would consider the Star of the night The price was consistent with the area, nothing seemed overly priced. Portions were also large enough to be split so if with a group and wanting to try multiple items you would be able to do it and have enough.

Being downtown, parking is not always the greatest, but it was a lovely evening for walking less than a block to the restaurant. It was a Saturday evening so there was a little wait, but we were able to sit outside and have a drink while we waited. Once inside, the place was dimly lit, really loud with music and very clean. And for having unisex bathrooms, those were surprisingly clean as well. Our waitress was great, I wish I could remember her name... but I do know she was from Cali. We ordered a couple of strawberry margaritas, which were just your basic drink, but still refreshing. Started off with a basket of chips, salsa and fundido. This is considered an appetizer, so no freebies here. The chips were fresh and warm, the salsa had a nice flavor and the fundido was ok according to the kiddo. We had the grilled shrimp tacos with rice and beans. You had to assemble your own tacos tonight, and order rice and beans separately as the taco plate had no sides, but all delicious.... Beans had a nice kick, the shrimp tacos were missing something in my opinion, but not sure what. We also had the best shrimp quesadilla we ever tried. It has overly stuffed and cheesy with wonderful lime cream sauce to go with it. This entree was a huge hit all around and it did come with a side, so no extra charges. To finish off dinner, we all shared the strawberry tres leches and OMG... Absolutely the best we have had in a while. Too bad it's seasonal. Over all, great experience and would definitely g

Jake and the staff were beyond friendly and kind! The patio was a popular spot with hard walls and heavy duty plastic windows, ample seating despite it being a rare 70 degree Alabama December day. Parking is a slight challenge as it has always been, however there was plenty of street parking out front and around the corner. The restaurant was clean, with a few water spills, and the rest rooms (several are unisex) were clean!
