We had nearly half our home refloored by Luminous. We plan to get more done in the future. The owner and staff were incredibly helpful and professional. The owner walked us through options and explained the benefits and drawbacks of each type of option there is. The came and installed quickly. There was only one minor mistake. A 2 or 3 baseboards got scratched. One of the installers came over the next day after he installed at another house and fixed it for us. It was simply amazing service and results. These guys are truly amazing!! There were several crews that came over to each do their respective roles in changing out old dark stained wood with new pieces. They totally went above the call of duty and filled a couple of holes using dowels. Every person was courteous, patient (with our many questions) and respectful. They cleaned up each day as the process took a number of days to complete for 2 rooms. We highly encourage you to use them and Tom G and his fellow workers were outstanding! In fact as we were having windows installed, the installer wanted to get their number for future jobs as he saw their incredible craftsmanship. They also offered us the very best price for what they did and saved us a bundle by fixing only what was needed and not replacing the floors. We cannot say enough good about this organization! We live in Creve Coeur and are putting our house on the market in the spring. We've done a lot of work on the house, but the one thing we had yet to get to was a hardwood floor refinish, and we were convinced it would set our house apart. After doing some research, I reached out to a couple of top-rated refinishers, and ultimately I chose Luminous Flooring based on their friendly interaction and reasonable pricing. It was a great decision. They expedited our scheduling, walked us through all the details, and worked late into the night (while we stayed at a hotel) to ensure our work was completed. They provided multiple stain options and we agreed with their recommendations. The floors look fantastic. One note: we had a party just a day or so after the floors were refinished and some tape we used for decorations stripped off the freshly painted poly! :( However, I had nothing to fear, as the Luminous crew came out within days and made repairs instantly. Luminous flooring did a great job on refinishing my kitchen and bathroom floor. Steven and his crew were very nice and accommodating. They put a lot of effort into finding the correct color. I really liked that they removed the toilet before refinishing the bathroom. I also like that they use a water based finish. Luminous Flooring just finished installing our new hardwood floors. Our flooring has 3 different widths, so not as easy as a single width flooring to install. They did a very professional job. I had 3 doorways to our tiled breakfast room, and a powder room doorway. I had no extra tile and they were careful, as I asked, and did not damage any of the tile. Chandler and Jacob were the main workers on our project of living room, dining room, entry hall and family room and completed the job in a timely manner and cleaned up the house afterwards. We didn't have a good experience with these guys. Called for an estimate, and Matt even drove to our house to take measurements. Unfortunately they never even came back to us with any pricing estimates. When I emailed to follow up, I got no response. So definitely lacking in customer service there. To me, it's a potential sign of what's to come. It's too bad...I had high hopes for these guys due to the reviews I read, but unfortunately our experience was not the same as the other reviewers. read more

I hired Luminous Flooring to refinish the floors in my living room, dining room, family room, entry hall and hallway to the bedrooms. They replaced my entry hall with the white oak to match the rest of the flooring they were refinishing. They also replaced my kitchen floor. This was a wonderful experience. Matt Lukens, the owner, was such a pleasure to work with. At any point when I contacted him, he immediately responded. One crew came out in February to replace the linoleum in my kitchen with Coretex flooring. The floor is quiet, warm and soft. I am very happy with the product and the crew did an excellent job in just a few hours. In March they started on the refinishing/replacing, Matt had this scheduled out perfectly. It seemed he had crews of 3-4 people and they all specialized in something different. The first crew removed all of my furniture into the garage and they began covering my window treatments, ducting, bookcases, etc. The next crew showed up to sand, another crew to stain and the last crew to put on baseboards. The floors turned out amazing and the baseboards really looked great. By the end of the week, everything was complete except for the floors because they needed to sit before putting the furniture back. On Monday they arrived on time again to take care of that. I have done a lot of home improvements and this had to be the smoothest operation I have ever seen. When I received bids from other companies, they did not move furniture or replace baseboards and still charged the same amount of money. Hiring Luminous again would be a no-brainer. I had the names of three companies from which to get estimates for refinishing our dining room floor. This was the only company that responded. The three fellows who did the work were fantastic. Jake, Jake, and Grant. Jake the Floor Man matched the color of our other hardwood perfectly and took great pains to get it right. He did a beautiful job with his work. Jake the Carpenter did an unbelievably beautiful job with a couple of thresholds and vents all through our house that are flush to the floor. I feel like I live in a million dollar home now! All three of the fellows were courteous, hard working, serious about "getting it right," and professional. I couldn't recommend this company, and especially these three young men, more highly. I want to thank Matt and his team of professionals for the terrific jobs they have done for my home. They installed hardwood flooring throughout the upper level a couple of years ago in 2 phases because that worked with our budget. I love the way it changed the appearance of the space. This year they installed a vinyl floor in our basement which has had water problems over the years. What a great solution and again it changed the appearance dramatically.
