Key lime dairy free gelato, taro tea boba, store front
    Paige R.

I would consider this a must try for those in Gainesville/Newberry! I was met with a very friendly welcome and free samples!! The dairy free keylime gelato is delicious and smooth as if it were made out of milk. Great treat on a hot day!

If you're craving some sweet and light, make the drive to Lulu's Gelato! My mom and I had been having a craving for some sorbet and gelato and had heard amazing things about Lulu's. Since we live in Archer, the drive to the Jonesville/Newberry area was not far. Once you pull into the location, you will see it's a small cart in between to a plant nursery and a meat market but inside the cart you will see two of the most lovely and friendliest owners. Since I had been scrolling through the reviews, I knew that the Lulu's mango was a popular option and decided to indulge and do a scoop of that and a scoop of lemon blueberry sorbetto. My mom picked the passion fruit sorbetto and picked up the pistachio gelato for my dad. I opted for the lychee cherry topping for my treat. Let me tell you, the reviews were right, this option was everything and then some. The gelato is very creamy, and not too sweet at all. It transports your taste buds to a mango island and you can tell it's not artificially made. The lemon blueberry was tart but delicious and a great component to the Lulu mango. These treats are hand crafted and made with love and there's a great variety of flavors and toppings. My parents enjoyed their gelato and sorbetto as well to the point where my dad wants to go every weekend now. The prices are very reasonable and they offer a variety of treats like boba floats, banana boats (banana sundae), and bubble waffles. Please go support this local business, you will not regret it!

Small little Gelato, Italian Ice spot tucked away on the way to Newberry situated right next a small tropical plant spot. Been wanting to stop here for some time.lots of flavors. They also do Boba Teas and Biegnet's too!!! But only tried the Gelato this visit. Decent sized cup for 5 dollars. We didn't put any toppings on . Friendly folks run the spot. They have small tables outside you can sit at.

Wow! We spotted the Lulu's food truck at 4th Avenue Food Park and enjoyed pumpkin spice gelato and sea salt caramel gelato.

Cute little Gelato shop right outside of Tropical Roots plant nursery. I love their Thai Tea and Black Sesame flavor! They will let you try some sample of their other flavors but those two flavors will be my go to. Owners are super friendly and helpful. Outdoor tables are available. Highly recommend these affordable and delicious cold treats.

Truly a hidden gem!! My friend and I discovered Lulu's as they were a vendor outside of Tropical Roots plant nursery. The owners are super sweet, humble, and lovely to talk to. They really make their gelato with so much love and care. They were very generous with their samples, my friend and I loved the taro, mango, and sesame flavors. Super creamy and great flavors that remind me of home. Will definitely be visiting them a lot in the near future.

I absolutely love Lulu's. We have been so many times. You get a free cup after 5 visits! I had even made an instagram post about them a while back saying the following: "We've found lots of hidden gems here in Gainesville, but one I especially love is Lulu's Gelato!! @lulusgelato is AMAZING hand-crafted Gelato that will melt in your mouth. I am so glad we stubbled across this little gelato stand one day. It's family run and the gelato is handmade it's only $7 a pint when at the mall it's $14. They didn't pay me to say this, I just wanted to share this with y'all. I am BLOWN AWAY by the hazelnut chocolate gelato and the butterfinger so good. Next weekend is the last time they'll be selling gelato until next year, so we're going to STOCK UP! You have to preorder for next week ! You won't regret it #supportsmallbusiness " Now I wanted to say: one other thing I love about them is that they donate their tips to great causes. These people are so sweet and have great hearts. I am looking forward this weekend to going and tasting their amazing gelato and donating to Ukraine .

Lulu Mango (full size) and sea salt caramel latte (kids cup)

Lulu's gelato is a sweet, family run business that parks their truck next to Affordable Vet in Jonesville and sometimes the downtown farmers market. They are incredibly nice with a great product. They have many flavors including some non-dairy and sorbet options. Their star is the Lulu Mango. Any form of dessert that comes with sweetened condensed milk on it can't be beat. The mango chunks on top were extremely ripe and sweet. I have also had their avocado, sea salt caramel, and pineapple mango sorbet. Those were all very good as well. Their prices are very reasonable. A single scoop "kids cup" is only $3 and a standard size two scoop cup is $4. This is a little cheaper than other gelato places I have tried. They also offer a rewards punch card- one free gelato after purchasing five. If I'm being picky, I would like to add that I personally wouldn't consider them actually gelato. Their recipe may be that of a gelato rather than an ice cream, but something in the texture and density doesn't reflect that. Don't get me wrong, this is a fantastic place. But if you are looking for something that not only tastes great but feels like gelato, you probably won't want to make the trip to Lulu's. Overall Lulu's is a little gem. If you happen to be close by, they are a fantastic treat. They conveniently park next to the Arepas Milko food truck so you can grab both dinner and your dessert in one stop. I will happily continue to purchase their gelato whenever we are nearby.

Quite a drive from where I live but worth it. I've heard great things about this tiny little gelato and sorbet place. I asked about a flavor I think it's was called mermaid something and was quickly offered a taste test . I wanted a more tangy and sweet balance so I got piña colada and lulu mango. Also got sorbet on the side . Very rich flavors and so creamy and smooth that I have found myself coming back again and again.

Lulu's is so adorable. It looks straight out of a Target magazine! And their prices and flavors are absolutely wonderful! They have so many flavors and also sell Italian ice! For a kids size at $3 and a regular for $4, these are definitely cheaper compared to the other competition! And they also include a complimentary topping! My favorite is the mango gelato which comes with mango chunks and a "special sauce" that is absolutely delightful for a Gainesville summer day! It also comes with a waffle cookie too! I love Lulu's and will definitely come back to try other flavors!

For the price, the portion and quality of the gelato is too generous. The owner is very good humored kind and let's you sample whatever you want. Gelato comes with unique complimenting toppings that make the visuals instaworthy as well. We got the papaya and mango flavor and it was both creamy and refreshing. The cherry on top was the mood and atmosphere of the place. It's an overall great experience to come with friends, a date, and/or family to stay for a while. Only wish I knew about it sooner:)

Arepa Milko: The Venezuelan Food Truck Turned Restaurant You Need to Try…read more If you haven't been to Arepa Milko yet: it's authentic Venezuelan dishes, delicious food and a spot that's grown from humble food truck beginnings into a legit foodie destination. Here's why this place is an absolute must-visit: Start with Tequeños (Trust Me) Begin your meal with an appetizer--yes, fried. Tequeños. Or as I like to call them: TequeñYES! These traditional Venezuelan cheese sticks had a golden crunch and released a mouthwatering aroma that hinted at the cheesy goodness inside. And that vibrant green sauce? Game over ranch. It's tangy, addictive, and honestly deserves a spot next to ranch in the sauce hall of fame. Bold claim, I know -- but it's that good. Sandwiches That'll Ruin You (In the Best Way) I tried Milko's Pulled Chicken Sandwich. That crispy fried cheese acted like food glue, holding together all the Venezuelan magic inside. The pulled chicken was juicy and flavorful, blending into every unforgettable bite. I also had the Patacón Tostón Sandwich with Pernil (slow-roasted pork). This is not your average sandwich -- it's a specialty you won't find just anywhere. The crispy green plantain "buns" were absolute perfection: crunchy on the outside, yet tender enough to hold all the layers together without falling apart. The layering? Impeccable. The juicy, seasoned pork stole the spotlight without overpowering the plantains. Every bite was an explosion of textures and bold flavors -- the kind of messy, glorious meal. Oh, and the portions? Generous doesn't even begin to cover it. Save Room for Dessert (Seriously) I even got to meet the owner, who was incredibly kind and recommended the Nutella-filled Tequeños for dessert. OH. MY. GOODNESS. Absolute perfection. Warm, gooey Nutella wrapped in that crispy tequeño shell? It's everything you never knew you needed. If you've never tried a sweet twist on this iconic Venezuelan snack, consider this your official sign. Zero regrets. Zero crumbs left behind. The Vibe at Arepa Milko blends casual comfort and self-service. The original food truck still proudly stands outside, keeping the story alive. But step inside, and you'll find indoor seating, air conditioning, and an upgraded space perfect for enjoying every bite without battling the Florida heat. Final Verdict If you're looking to experience authentic Venezuelan flavors and discover rare gems like the Patacón, Arepa Milko needs to be on your foodie bucket list. From street food roots to full-on restaurant glow-up, they've earned their spot in North Florida's food hall of fame. Come hungry. From day one, the owner has made us feel welcomed, remembered, and truly part of his world, and that level of hospitality is something you can't manufacture. It's real, and it's why this place stands out. The gelato is on another level entirely. I've traveled, tasted, and tried gelato in major cities and abroad, and nothing (absolutely nothing) compares to what's being crafted right here in our growing Ocala. The flavors rotate constantly, keeping every visit exciting and perfectly matched to whatever mood you're in. Each batch is rich, smooth, balanced, and made with a passion you can taste. We've never left with a single regret, only smiles and that satisfied "this hit the spot" feeling. And honestly, the gelato here deserves worldwide recognition. It's that exceptional.
