Steve Thompson was there the owner along with the teacher, Jeff who has a shop at the "Villages". We learned a lot and it was a very fun trip. I walked the factory with Steve and he showed me the quality of what he built in the USA. After a lot of pondering I bought the 24 quart batch freezer. I have run this batch freezer every day for now almost six years. We have made thousands of batches of ice cream and gelato and it has NEVER given me any problem. Every other piece of equipment I have from freezers, dip cases to waffle irons have broken over those six years. Not one time have I had any issue with my batch freezer. I even called Steve one time to ask "what do I do to maintain this batch freezer ?" He told me just use it, clean it and enjoy it. I would NEVER think twice about buying a batch freezer from Steve and I HIGHLY recommend you don't make a mistake and by an Italian one. This piece of equipment is an "Iron Horse". I purchased an Emery Thompson CB-350 for $8000 in 2010 and had problems right from the start. The…read moremachine arrived late and the advertised "infinite overrun control" was completely false. I called Emery Thompson to request assistance and tried every "solution" that they suggested and could get zero change in my overrun control. I was told by the owner, Steve Thompson, who was very argumentative, that my only recourse was to send the machine back to him at my expense of $1000. In 2012 the compressor broke and I was told that it was no longer under warranty, although everyone in the industry that I spoke with stated that it should be under at least a five year warranty. Emery Thompson provides only 90 days labor and one year parts warranty. I contacted Steve Thompson again and requested a new compressor at a cost to me of $800 including shipping. When it arrived, it was faulty. I called Steve Thompson again and asked for a new compressor. Again, he was defensive and argumentative and stated that it was not his problem. Again, his only solution was for me to ship the entire machine back to him, have it repaired and returned, at a round trip cost to me of $2000. I would strongly advise not purchasing an Emery Thompson machine. Check out Taylor, every refrigeration expert that I have spoken with suggests that it is a far superior machine.
