Folks please take a look at the pictures to see the complete disaster this alleged hairstylist,…read moreEsmeralda, did to my hair! You can clearly see the harsh money piece (didn't ask for) and uneven thick highlights. In some areas I am an orange copper tone in others a light yellow to a medium dark yellow. It is not cohesive and natural. I was in shock once I got home to further inspect how uneven my highlights looked. I called to have it fixed because of how bad they were. Now, as a professional especially in an industry like this, a hairstylist NEEDS to be open to constructive feedback and make sure the client is left happy and satisfied. Upon my correction appointment the stylist Esmeralda had such an attitude and made continuous snide comments. That I don't wash my hair and that's why my highlights looked the way they did. That I am the first person to not be satisfied by her work. That I am not open to change or welcome it. That there was no reason to complain. When I asked if there was going to be an issue and a problem on her correcting my highlights she was very quiet. Where is your backbone there lady? Let's not even mention how she DID NOT COMMUNICATE anything and how when I would ask her what the plan was and what my options were she would just roll her eyes and not give me a clear answer. Just comes to show how classless, tacky, unprofessional and immature she is for her 60 year old self. In addition, she started using a dye that was extremely strong and foul. Keep in mind there was NO VENTILATION! I felt myself choking and finding it hard to breathe. I was in PHYSICAL DISTRESS from these strong chemical dye fumes. I communicated with Esmeralda but once again was ignored. Isn't this a safety and health issue that should be taken seriously. She also left me unattended and she did not time how long the new dye had to be in for before she began to start cutting some guys hair. When I told the manager Diana she promptly communicated with Esmeralda and her response was still lacking. Just came to show how she didn't care! Isn't it that you can't be negligent considering you are licensed? You took an oath didn't you Esmeralda? To affirm that you would uphold the law and serve the public ETHICALLY?! Not only did she leave me unattended but my scalp was on fire. She was aware but yet was immature and unprofessional on handling this situation. The manager Diana washed my hair and when I informed her of this unprofessional lady, Diana spoke and communicated like an individual with an education and was way more respectful and mature. Essentially how a manager should act. It was really sad to see how this uneducated tacky women spoke to Diana. Almost as if she was the owner. Unfortunately it's like these employees that break salon businesses. Ladies please stay away from this salon especially that uneducated classless person named Esmeralda. Don't worry tho I WILL be contacting the board of Barbering & Cosmetology to make them aware of the unprofessional standards this person Esmeralda is not adhering to. I also have a doctors appointment and will be seeing my dermatologist and if needed I will take this lady to court. It's 2025 and we need to hold negligent people like this Esmeralda accountable and make sure she gets her karma before she decides to cause more harm to other people. Word of advice sweetheart, learn how to treat clients professionally, learn how to communicate but most of all have some class.

So a week later I called again, this time during business hours. Got the voice mail and left another message. No call back. So I was in the area on a day they claim they're open and guess what. They were closed. Smack in the middle of the business hours they claim to keep. Found out through the grapevine that Judi, my (terrific) cutter, moved out of state. The least they could do is call and let me know. They didn't. I've found someone else and revised my rating from 5 stars to one. And by the way, every time I was there (probably 10 times total), all I ever saw were geriatric ladies. I concluded that that was their specialty. Good luck to you if you try this place.

I wanted to applaud but I would have looked silly! I've taken my son to other shops before but I've always left upset. This is the 4th shop we bring him to and we aren't going anywhere else! The shop is REALLY clean and cool. Someone is always cleaning the tools and sweeping the floor when the barbers are at work. The same guy makes sure the customers, mostly kids, are covered properly so hair doesn't get on their clothes and he assists the barbers with getting hair of their faces so they aren't itchy. The guys there bring out this comfortable and funny ambient it makes you feel like you're visiting a family member's home! They all tell the customers they appreciate their service when they leave, it's small but it's so much effort in their part and details like this are great and thoughtful. I recommend anyone who likes traditional and modern cuts to come to this place. They seem like they are current with modern styles as well as the old school styles. As we waited, which wasn't long at all (and it was busy-which didn't matter cause it's a cool place to hang out) I saw few customers; many different ages with different styles and the boys here did well with all the styles. We will be back again! Thanks guys!

Steven spoke maybe three sentences throughout the entire appointment, which made the experience uncomfortable and didn't seem like he wanted to be there. The final color was completely off. The front of my bangs is PURPLE with an ashy base, while the back of my hair is warm with blonde highlights. After he was done, he knew he had messed up and his response was simply, "It'll be less warm in the back the more you shampoo." Why is the back of my head a completely different color than the front? Honestly, this was the worst color job I've ever had, and I would not recommend booking with him.

She has a very calm presence, displays genuine care and curiosity, and has depth of compassion and perspective. When you're spending hours at a time with the person coloring your hair, it's meaningful to genuinely enjoy connecting with them. Just be aware that Sulema is understandably sought out and booked for months -- be sure to plan your appointments with her well in advance! Also of note, Sulema has curated a beautiful, intimate, peaceful space in Dutch Door Hair Salon. It does not have the intense, heightened energy often found in larger salons.
