This was a horrible experience. They have a "downstairs" hidden scene. We also had a reservation at 9:00pm. We went to the "hidden" spot with the lights off, we called and customer service picked up and we asked multiple times to talk to the manager and when asked for my first and last name the man on the phone went radio silent. When we asked how to get in the man didn't say anything. then 22 minutes later they told us it was closed early. why not call the person who has the reservation tell them of the circumstances so they can make other plans? stupid. never coning back. read more

I was so excited for this restaurant and honestly very let down. The drinks were not well made. The shrimp appetizer was horrible, just boiled shrimp in a bowl of what tastes like pure Louisiana Red Hot sauce. Just a bowl of hot sauce with some shrimp in it. I enjoy spice, but the flavor was not enjoyable as a bowl of sauce. The chicken entree was exactly as listed: chicken, rice, tomatoes, lettuce. There was absolutely no more and no less here. Where do I start? Yes, it's Valentine's Day so we all know you're not going to get the best service and you're going to get a set menu, therefore we ask ourselves why go out on valentine's day? We arrived at 6:30 pm, a half hour ahead of our reservation. The blaring sign should've been when the hostess would not seat the couple that arrived at 6:40 for a 6:30 reservation bc they were overbooked But then the 6:45 reservations came in around 7 and they were checked in and eventually seated. We were seated finally at 7:40. Never saw a server until we asked the hostess where our server was. Finally someone greeted us at 8:20. He was calm, a gentleman, and definitely overwhelmed sadly because he had no help. He informed us to order everything at once because they were very behind. Appetizer never came, entree came an hour later, no silverware, no steak knife, missing the salad dressing; no yucca fries. Never was able to eat our meal. Eventually requested a second plate, never received. Asked the food runner where our appetizer was after she served the entree and said they were out of guacamole, which our server never informed us of. Ten minutes later the table adjacent to us was served two order of the guacamole appetizer. This place bit off more than they could chew and will hopefully learn from tonight. They booked over 600 reservations per the bartender which is impossible! This is why we will never go out on Valentine's Day ever again! read more

Came here for what was supposed to be a quick lunch - it was certainly not quick. The ambiance of the restaurant was great - the majority of the seating is in a well decorated basement with a mural, string lights, and (artificial) candles. This would have been a five star experience if the service and food were on point. They had one server handling the lunch hour, who was kind, but not at the top of her game for attentiveness. Our group had to repeat our orders multiple times, and each time she stepped away, she wouldn't be back for over 10 minutes. A member of my party asked if fries came with his sandwich, only for her to tell him water was included. Our food arrived sporadically, which made it hard for my party to enjoy lunch together. We all ordered the bocadillos, which were tasty! The only downside was, inexplicably, where I got fries, a member of my party got roast potatoes. (He was even the one who asked if his sandwich came with fries.) The waitress responded that his came with these whole potatoes. Ordering a side of fries, of course, came with another 10-15 minute wait. They came with our party's final entree. We have been wanting to try this place for a while. We saw the promotional reels for Valentine's Day and thought it would be the perfect romantic spot for dinner. Our experience unfortunately did not live up to the hype. Poor service, terrible drinks, and my husband got food poisoning! We arrived 3 minutes late to our reservation due to the lobby being packed with other couples/parties already waiting for their tables as well. When finally greeted by the hostess, she told us she couldn't take our reservation because we were late. After explaining that we were there on time, but lost amongst the crowd, she curtly escorted us downstairs where she spoke with (I'm assuming) the restaurant manager trying to find a table for us. After being seated, we took in the ambiance. It was romantic and intimate but overcrowded. You felt like you were sitting on top of one another. It was also freezing! The temperature was set at 69 and wasn't budging. Our waitress (bless her heart) greeted us after 20 minutes and seemed extremely overwhelmed. All of the staff (or lack there of) seemed frantic and confused. It was pure chaos. My husbands first drink, the berry mojito, was nothing but soda water and rum. Ir was so awful he couldn't finish it. We were there for almost 3 hours in total between waiting for our food and service. My husband got the chicken and he said the cherry tomatoes tasted sour. I ordered the steak which was nicely prepared but meal was missing a side. When we ordered our dessert to go, it took almost 45 minutes to get to us just for it to be wrong. We didn't even care at that point. We just wanted out of there. I'm thankful we left when we did. As soon as we got to the car, my husband started feeling ill. He was up all night violently vomiting and had diarrhea. He's convinced he had food poisoning from the chicken and tomatoes dish. After spending $180+ tip, feeling extremely disappointed doesn't even come close to describing our experience. I don't blame the waitresses or food runners. They were trying their hardest. Whomever is in charge of running the restaurant should be ashamed of themselves. Booking that many reservations when they should've known it wasn't possible to accommodate that many people, ruining people's valentines days, running their staff into the ground, etc. Piss poor excuse for a professional. This place was amazing!!! It's a small join with most of the seating downstairs in a dark and cozy, romantic space. We tried the patacones y chorizo, the patacones y guac, and the steak empanadas. The para ones were super yummy. The chorizo was good but not great and the guac had too much lime but you can tell was fresh. The empanadas were delicious!! As a Colombian myself, I was impressed to see a "Latin American" (but mostly Colombian) restaurant/bar in downtown Cleveland. The aesthetics of this place inside and out are beautiful. The patio is nice, the inside is nice, and the bar below is incredible! I had no idea the downstairs space existed until the woman who greeted us pointed down the stairs. The candle lit stairs that leads down into the deep blue abyss is very eye catching and a great set up. When it came to ordering drinks, I was a bit disappointed that they did not carry aguardiente which is a staple Colombian liqueur. I was hoping to introduce my friend to it as he's never had anything Colombian before. We decided on some drinks but they had run out of a specific ingredient for my drink so they asked if I could just have it without it. We ended up ordering the empanadas, but honestly for $14, they were overpriced. They were smaller than usually in size (there were four of them) and the Aji that accompanied it was not as spicy as I'm used to. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here for authentic Colombian food, but to be fair, I also don't even know if the Cleveland area would have authentic Colombian food lol. Our server was sweet and from Colombia so it was nice talking to her and meeting another fellow Colombian! Came to Lulo's Kitchen for the first time this past Valentine's day for a nice Date night in Cleveland. This was hands down the worst service I have ever experienced in my life and I have served at multiple restaurants in the past. First of all we were not greeted at the hostest stand for over 10 minutes, servers kept walking up to the desk then away without greeting us. We were sat 15 minutes late when we had a reservation. We were seated at a small table and the server didn't come greet us or take our drink order for 45 minutes. Then when the server came to the table he starred at his Ipad for 8 minutes before saying a word. He refused to let us order a Mocktail, simply said he could only make what was on the limited menu. We placed our order just to wait for another hour before I flagged someone else down letting them know our food had still not come out. 20 minutes later our appetizer and 1 entre was brought out. almost 10 minutes later the other entre was brought out. We were not supplied with silverware so we sat there for another 15-20 minutes without silverware, by that point our food was cold. Our server came to our table once in over 2 hours, no manager checked on us, and other servers aimlessly walking around never stopped to ask if we were waiting for food, silverware, anything. I am not one to complain however when I brought all of this to the attention of our server which I had to back to the hostess stand to find and speak to he just said sorry, took off the appetizer but there was an automatic 20% gratuity applied to the check for my wife and I which I would have liked to be the one to add or not add due to the absolute terrible service. I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO LULO's KITCHEN. The street outside smelled of straight sewage, parking was $20, food cold, service non-existent. Do not come here. read more

It took 45 minutes to bring out the wrong bottle of wine and another 10 to correct it. Server didn't even pour the wine he handed us the glasses and on the way. I stood up jokingly and poured our glasses People do start to get food around us and the common consensus there is no silverware. The couple behind us had their food for nearly 20 minutes before they received the utensils to eat it. We didn't even have a napkin at our table for the entire 2 hours we wasted there. We didn't even get our food before I decided to cash out and leave. You should have either made the menu smaller or sold less seats.. I'm sure there are a hundred little things that could have been different. I was going to speak to the manager formally before we left but as I was leaving I noticed several other upset couples already laying into him Unfortunately this will be the one and only time I attempt to eat there. As I've told many of my friends already and I do have a lot of them in the city. I feel like we were Cat fished by the glamorous social media posts and the join us on Valentine's Day marketing. On Fridays and Saturdays, downstairs opens up at Lulo and a magical albeit very dark Latin upbeat cocktail cave awaits! Clubby Latin pop played in the background but the volume wasn't too high so as to ruin conversation. The aroma was citrus and coconut, and with the help of a cell phone light I picked out the pisco sour. The very capable bartender easily made the drink for me substituting Stevia for simple syrup and it was fantastic! My friend and I were two of four total guests downstairs at 8pm on Friday. The ceviche Cameron was unbelievable! You can't find legitimate Latin food like this with this level of freshness anywhere else around. The orange and lemon juices were prominent in the delicious salsa that bathed the shrimp. The shrimp was plentiful and the tostones were hot freshly fried plantain flats with a perfectly complementary saltiness. The churrasco steak was also amazing! It was a huge filet- not a usual thin skirt steak - and super flavorful with a nice light crust. The sweet plantains on the side- maduro -were ideally sweet but not syrupy and with a nice outer crispness. Great for an upscale casual gourmet food and cocktail experience. read more

Located in the Warehouse District, Lulo is currently hidden behind some construction. But if you have the patience to park and see it through, you're going to be completely smitten by what's inside. Lulo is two floors. Downstairs, it's a beautiful bar with very dark and moody vibes, and upstairs is a smaller seating area where the kitchen is actually located. I'm still not totally sure where you do dine-in, but I placed an order to go ahead of time and it was ready upstairs, where I think they may take coffee orders. The whole atmosphere is super bright, dreamy and filled with so much good energy. For lunch, I ordered the salmon teriyaki bowl and it was absolutely delicious. The salmon portion was huge and fresh and the rice beneath it had a tangy taste that was addictive! They have an outstanding iced herbal tea selection, which is fantastic if you're not a coffee drinker but still want a delicious drink. I was very hesitant to write this review b/c restaurants do have off nights, but ultimately with this being my first experience there (and it being as bad as it was), I would never go back. Wait time: Had 8:30p reservations for 3 in their Speakeasy section, and got there about 5 mins ahead of schedule. When we walked in all the servers were running around, there was no host/hostess, and a gentleman in a suit popped out of the kitchen and said someone would be with us shortly. Well 27 minutes later, and no one had come back to check in. In fact they seated another group ahead of us that arrived after we got there. Finally we said something to the man in the suit, and he had someone attempt to seat us about 5 minutes later, only to find that she was not taking us to the area we had specifically reserved. So we spoke up and it was another 5 minutes of waiting while they tried to figure out how to accommodate our reservation. So in total we arrived at 8:25 and were not seated until about 9:15. Dining Experience: We were finally seated and they place us at a table that is directly underneath the staircase. So any time someone went up or down the stairs, particles from the stairs would fall on me. It took about 15 minutes until we were able to place drink orders, and another 15-20 minutes until they were brought to our table, which was insane because we were seated 5 feet from the bar. After placing our food order, it was about a 20 minute wait on appetizers and 45+ minute wait on our entrees. Food/Drinks: For our appetizer we ordered the Chorizo y Patacones (fried plantains). The entire dish was cold. The plantains were way overcooked, and the chorizo wasn't very flavorful. We all ordered steak for our entrees. 2 Carne Asada and 1 Churrasco. All our food was barely lukewarm. Flavor wise, everything tasted fine. For our drinks 2 of us ordered the Passionfruit Jalapeño Margarita and 1 of us ordered the Traditional Margarita. They were okay. Service: Our server was very nice and apologetic about everything, especially for the wait time on our drinks/food. As far as the man in the suit (who was the Manager I believe), he had no empathy for our concerns about our wait time, and accused us of being "too harsh" about having to wait to be seated. As if it was our fault that they overbooked their establishment. Additional Info: There are usually 3 different areas for seating, but they had booked out one area for an engagement party, and another area for a birthday party. So there was only one area available for the general public (with reservations), which resulted in reservations not being honored in the manner in which they were booked. Total Rating: Overall I would rate this experience a 4/10. Lulo has a lot of potential and great photo ops. All in all though they dropped the ball in a lot of areas. This definitely isn't some place I would recommend for a first date, unless you call ahead to see if they've booked 75% of their seating to private parties. read more

Very cute restaurant, the plants and atmosphere were incredible, especially upstairs. Downstairs is dark and cute, but very loud (and there weren't a lot of people there, the noise just carried). However, the service was spectacular! Really enjoyed the drinks, especially the passionfruit jalapeño margarita and mojitos. Everyone I was with (we were visiting from out of town) raved about the food. They ordered the carne asada as recommended by the waiter and LOVED it. My bf ordered the mango salmon and thought there wasn't enough mango, but liked the dish. I'm a vegetarian and gf and there weren't a lot of option. I went with the quinoa ceviche, minus the plantains because I can't eat them. It was fine, a bit lacking in flavors, though it was a beautiful dish.
