Went here for dinner with my parents tonight. Overall was a great experience, and you can tell the owners truly care about their food! We ordered the nachos to share, which were fresh and light - perfect appetizer. The nachos were made wrong 2x by the kitchen, so it took quite a while to come out - which didn't bother us too much - but the manager/owner came over to apologize and comped the nachos, which was very nice of him! I got the steak tips, broccoli and mac and cheese. All were very good, I rarely order steak at restaurants because I am picky with steak, but the steak tips were the best part of the meal. Tender and flavorful. We went on a friday night, the live music was a nice touch but I will say the music is EXTREMELY loud - like almost unbareable unfortunately. I wanted to tell the manager before we left that maybe it can be turned down a notch or five... We will be back again and I can't wait to try their martini flight! read more

Luk's Bar & Grill has opened its second location in front of Mel's Funway Park in Litchfield. This restaurant & bar building has been home to several former restaurants over the years including Day of the Dead Taqueria, Mel's Restaurant, Gale Motor Pit Stop, Naticook Grill, Woodman's Seafood, and Shorty's. The place was redone. Like the Hudson location, the food menu offerings consist of traditional pub fare, pizza and a few Italian dishes including steaks, seafood, chicken, fried baskets, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and appetizers. The prices are moderate, most burgers & sandwiches $13-$18 and most dinners $14-$22. The bar offers 12 draft beers, bottle can bees/seltzers, wine, liquor, mixed drinks, and cocktails. They offer drink happy hour Mon-Fri & Sun. I was told the food happy hours with half off selected apps with entree purchase are going to be offered on Mon-Wed, just like in Hudson. I stopped in at Luk's in Litchfield after work and the place was packed on a Friday afternoon. I found an open seat at the packed bar. There are 3 flatscreen TVs in the bar lounge area, which has 20 high seats around the bar, regular table seating and high top seating along the windows. There is also a cozy dining room with tables and booths and outside patio seating. The bartender gave me a food menu and an ice water with lemon. I started out with a Large Meatball Ricotta Pizza ($17.99 plus tax) topped with a zesty red sauce base, house meatballs, roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, fresh basil, shredded mozzarella and ricotta cheese on top of a Neapolitan pizza crust, firm thin crust and slightly thick edge crust. The toppings were heavy and the crust was a bit flimsy. This pizza was spot on great! I did get a box for 6 of the 8 slices to enjoy later. For an entree, the Baked Haddock ($18.99 plus tax) with choice of two sides (chose garlic mashed potatoes & cole slaw). The baked haddock was hot and flaky topped with buttery herbed ritz cracker crumbs. The garlic mashed potatoes were smooth and the light creamy cole slaw had thick shredded cabbage, red cabbage & carrot, very firm and had some tart flavor. I finished the haddock dinner and 2 slices of the tasty and filling pizzas. The check was printed out already, which was $38.92 (cash)/$40.12 (card) with tax and before tip. The food here was very good and the service was very attentive with 2 bartenders taking care of things. I haven't been to Luk's in quite a while, but now that Litchfield is open, I can make the short drive here for great meal and some mini golf afterwards. read more

I recently called Luks Bar and Grill to place a pickup order and made sure--twice--that I had the correct location. The host confirmed both times, but my order was accidentally sent to their original location in Hudson instead of the new Litchfield restaurant I was trying to order from. Since the Litchfield location just opened about a week ago, the website hasn't been fully updated yet, which likely caused the confusion. Despite the mix-up, the owners were incredibly kind and understanding. They immediately offered to remake my order on the house--chicken tenders and a chicken bowl to go--which I truly appreciated. and I have to say, they were the BEST chicken fingers I've ever eaten. The restaurant itself is bright, spacious, and very inviting. The staff is friendly, there's live entertainment with a singer playing guitar, TV at the bar, and plenty of seating. The menu has a great variety of options, and I'm especially hoping they'll start serving breakfast soon since it's only a couple miles from home. Wishing this restaurant much success and longevity--it's a great addition to the area! read more

Very disappointed in this experience. Me and my 2 kids walk in get told 5 mins for a table. No problem. A couple people walk in and get seated before us. Still not an issue. We get sat at a table. Then 3 other tables were seated. We waited over 15mins with out even being acknowledged. The 3 other tables got drinks and food orders in meanwhile were still sitting at the corner table patiently waiting. There were 3 servers standing around not doing anything. Each one of them saw our table empty and coasterless and me looking at them trying to get their attention. I will not be referring or coming back to this establishment. Been twice now since they opened, first time was to the bar with a friend for drinks and an appetizer. We had the nachos they are great. Second time last night with my family, had to wait 30 min for at table. I view that as a good thing. Food again was great. The manager Erika was extremely rude to us and actually yelled at us for being in her way. Completely unacceptable customer service and definitely not how you should treat paying customers. Food was good. Service, we arrived with 30 to 40 minute wait which is acceptable. After 70 minutes I checked with the hostess, and she said she called us awhile ago, but we we sitting at the bar only 3 feet from the hostess and the pager never alerted us. The 'beep" can't be heard over the din of the load music and customers having to yell to converse. We are not sure whats going on with this Litchfield location. Service is poor which is sad becuse we used to go to the Hudson one and it was good. Since started going to this location when it first opened the sevice has been poor. I figurded it was do to thire first open. This was my third time going and both my wife and I left frustrated as we ever left in a resturant. We were seated down quickly waited 20 minutes to be served the waiter had told us no one told him that we were his table (micommunication) Gave him our order only to come back within 15 minutes to tell me hat they were out of Lobster ( no communication within ) ask us what I will like instead which I had giving up, waited another 15 min for my wife's salad. we had ask for it to go because we had enough. The server ask if we will like for something to be taken off the menu. "Really" a beer and a salad and you had to ask? We had no apologies from any managers. We will not be going back. I wanted this place to be 5 stars in the worst way, but our experience last night was a major disappointment. We had a group of 6, and while the long wait for our food was frustrating, we would have overlooked it if the meals had been correct. Unfortunately, every single person at our table had an issue with their dish, showing a complete lack of attention to detail:Chicken Stir Fry: Ordered with chicken, but it served with absolutely no chicken.Steak #1: Loaded with fat and poor quality.Steak #2: So incredibly salty that it was completely inedible.Steak #3: Ordered medium-rare but served overcooked at medium-well.Steak on a Stone: Did not arrive on the stone as advertised and ordered.Side Order: Requested no french fries, but they were included anyway.While the fry mix-up on its own is a small detail, it combined with the rest of the errors to prove that the kitchen was simply not paying attention.
