My 3-year-old actually enjoyed his visit to the drs! My son is timid by nature and Dr. Huang put him at ease right away by taking the time to be playful with him before his examination. He then did a very thorough examination of him and took his time answering all my questions. I really appreciated that he explained everything to me and talked to me as a competent, knowledgeable parent (which I am and often am not treated as such by medical professionals). Dr. Huang also didn't prescribe unnecessary medication but gave me a lot of over-the-counter recommendations. When I asked him if I really need the medication, he told me no, but if I ever do change my mind, the prescription is there. I appreciated his integrity. Honestly speaking, Dr. Huang had a thick accent that was at times difficult to understand. But to me, it's still 100% worth it to have a doctor thoroughly answer my questions, allow for a pleasant experience for my child, and provide quality work with integrity. I hesitated for years writing this review because I didn't want to give up my gem of a pediatrician but I realize I need to quit sitting on this jewel and share it for those parents/grand parents who are in real need of a quality competent pediatrician!!! Words cannot express how much my family and I love and appreciate Doctor Luke and his office Mgr Agatha. He is one of the best Pediatricians around and Agatha is amazing!!! We have been patients for almost 20 years, since my son was very young and we now bring my grand daughter to see him. I've also referred all my family to him and even though it's a little bit of a drive he is so worth it. Dr Huang is professional, extremely knowledgeable and very thorough, I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing a pediatrician and Agatha will always make sure to get you in as quickly as possible - usually the same day, which is unheard of these days!!!!! He has been a life saver and a god send, when my grand daughter was hospitalized he called regularly to check on her. I will never forget the nurses complementing me on selecting such a caring and knowledgeable pediatrician and telling me his type of service/bedside manner is now unheard of. Dr. Luke Huang was my pediatrician from the time I was 3 up to 18 back in the 80's and 90's. When I say this man saved my life more than once, this is not an exaggeration. I wouldn't be here today if not for his expertise and compassion. He is empathetic, knowledgeable, and cares deeply for all of his patients. I'm happy to see that he's still practicing and that Agatha is still with him. She's a gem when you get to know her, even if she seems rough around the edges at first. I was under Dr. Luke's care for asthma and allergies since I was in middle school, all the way until i left CA. Total of 17 years! My folks would drive ~1 hour each way, every week! He was always very knowledgeable in his practice but just as importantly, has amazing bedside manners and genuinely cares for each of his patients. Oh the stories I can tell! Fast forward to June 2020 where the pandemic brought us from NY back to CA. There are no words to describe the extent of our gratitude to be able to bring our toddler and myself back under Dr. Luke's care. Also, can't thank Agatha enough! I had untreatable depression despite him shotgunning SSRIs at me. I begged him for any sort of testing that could be done to understand why nothing was working. HE YELLED AT ME "THAT'S NOT HOW THIS WORKS, RYAN!" Guess what, Jim? That's exactly how it works. You sent me off-course for years before another non-asshole doctor sent me for tests and discovered I have Cushing's Syndrome... a tumor on my Pituitary gland. Something that could've easily been discovered with a referral or blood testing... or even a saliva test! You spent years of your life, countless thousands in students loans, to fail not only as a physician but as a human being with basic empathy. I would just like to say to Jim: Fuck you. You gormless asshole. You ruined my life for years and you were a condescending moron when you did it. And you were wrong. So fucking wrong! Excellent Pediatrician!! I have been conducting so much research, trying to find a reputable and good doctor for my 1st child. After hearing & reading such wonderful things about Dr. Huang, I decided to make an appointment to meet him. The building he's located in is outdated, but the small office clinic is welcoming. The staff members are all so friendly & warm, which makes it even more pleasant for children. Wait times have been pretty short and the doctor is very personable, kind, and really takes his time with patients at each meeting. He's been so thorough and knowledgeable in answering all of my medical questions and addressing all medical concerns. He's so smart, sharp, and very experienced (over 30 years as a doctor). My 4-month old son got sick during thanksgiving week. I called a dozen pediatric offices; none was able to accept him due to booked schedules. I got Dr Luke Huang's contact from another pediatric office. Tried my luck and the receptionist was able to book appointment on the same day. Dr Luke was the most attentive doctor we've ever met. You can easily tell he really cares about his patients. He immediate assessed my son's condition, looked at samples under microscope, and prescribed medication. He even showed us parents what it looks under microscope and how the lung sounds with stethoscope. He was worried about my son would be hospitalized if not treating timely. He asked us to come back to see him on the day before thanksgiving holiday. He wasn't planning to work on the day but chose to come to ensure his patients are ok! What a loving heart he has and selfless man he is! Although he is not my pediatrician we usually see due to driving distance, I highly recommend Dr Luke Huang if anybody is looking! I wanted to look for a closer pediatrician so I saw two with a higher review but my first choice Dr Ou was packed and full so I had to pick the second which is not full now I can see why.....This place is horrible first time here with my newborn and the black lady whom I made the appt with three days before who sounds like she's half a sleep said "you have an appt today?" I rarely post any review but I started seeing dr Huang beginning of 2017 for my new born and at first I was reading the reviews and was not sure about this place, seems like a lot of reviews are complains about the front desk lady but still thought I'd gave it a try because it's so close to where we live. Dr huang is GREAT! Explain everything and alllllllllll my concerns. But this review is not about dr Huang. So here I go... Yes, I understood she had an accent, but you live in SoCal, prob 60% of people who live here has an accent so what! Just because you don't like her voice or you don't like her accent doesn't mean she's not doing her job. People's voice and tone usually get misunderstood over the phone especially if you are with a sick toddler on the other end of the phone because you are stressed over the fact that your child is sick and that doesn't mean the other people over the phone is giving you attitude! She ask what's wrong with your child is because she is trying to prepare for your child to come in to see the dr, if it's something that's so bad she prob would suggest you to go to the ER? Anyways she's always helped me to get the best care for my daughter! She tries to get me in as soon as possible and whenever I have question she will make sure the doctor would give me a call back in between patients. My daughter is one of those toddler who NEVER STOP crying when she goes to the doctor but she would try n help and play with my daughter so she stop crying. And my little one loves her! read more

I've been a patient since I was 2 years old. Now my children are his patients. The head nurse, Agatha can sound brusk over the phone but it's cause they get very busy quite often. She absolutely adores children and they're all her babies. I was worried my daughter had a concussion and he came in on a Saturday, when his office was closed to examine her. This review is not for the doctor as I had scheduled an appointment but ended up canceling it. This review is for the appointment/ front desk staff, who imho should not be allowed anywhere near phones because of their demeanor. I feel bad for the doctor as people get turned away right at the initial contact. My son had to go abroad for an unexpected visit and I wanted to get his well-child visit done this week so I can turn the forms to the school. Knowing it's last minute, called for an appointment yesterday and was given an appointment at 9.30 the following day (today). I asked if they have an open appointment a little later and I was offered a 11.00. I asked if I could possibly have a 11.30 or 12.00 appointment and I was told that I was pushing it being a new patient and that I should be grateful I got an appointment. Well, EXCUSE ME, whatever your name is, but you're not seeing my son for free. You're going to get paid for the well-child visit from my insurance company. Then the next question from this queen of etiquette is "What's wrong with your son?" Well, HELLO, nothing is wrong with my kid. Who asks a question like that ??? FYI - the correct question is "What's the purpose of the visit?", not "What's wrong with your son ?", which no parent wants to hear. Whoever put this etiquette queen on the phone deserves an award. For the doctor's sake, please get a new receptionist before your hard work and career is completely ruined. Called again this morning as I was not able to find this doctor under UHC but found him under a different name (Wen-Hsiung Huang MD) on Anthem's website. I called again to see if this doctor was in network with UHC and I was asked "Isn't that why you called yesterday?". Well, that's not the answer. Is he or isn't he ? Because that determines how much I pay - the most important question here. I get a rhetorical question as an answer. I then said, I'm just asking a valid question because I'm not able to find the doctor on UHC website. I heard only a sigh. I then said, I'm a new patient and don't have to go here and can go somewhere else. This lady coolly said, "Please do". Well, ofcourse I'm not going to see the doctor now. Sorry doctor. I can imagine how much revenue you must be losing because of this genius on the phone. Who wants to see a pediatrician with front desk staff like this ?? Can you imagine calling when your child is sick ? I can totally hear this woman asking "Is your child alive or not ?" I decided I needed a new pediatrician my previous one told me "You're watching your baby too closely" after I asked her a series of question at my baby's one month appointment. I'm so happy I found Dr. Huang. He is so experienced and so caring. He is so patient in answering my questions and makes me feel like all of my questions are relevant. I am not afraid of asking questions and he explains everything in detail. When I call after hours, he will return the call right away and give sound advice on what to do. I just love Dr. Huang and my kids too. The staff in the office are just as caring. Agatha is the sweetest and most caring nurse. My daughter loves her. read more

I don't know what those guys were complaining about on the review; yes, the receptionist wasn't speaking perfect english but was nice to my wife and my boy the entire time. She's just being a receptionist and you guys want to maker her life harder by telling those testimony about her. What about the doctor? Dr. Wang is great, and if you don't want the test or not covering by the coverage, you shouldn't complain because we're no saint here and it's always best to make sure then regret later on. Be careful with this location. If you have PPO and visiting for a routine physical, you may end up with extra bills for excessive tests that you specifically did not want in advance. My son was brought to Dr Huang for the first time last week. Im writing a review bc I've been impressed with the accommodation of their service based on my husband"s interaction with them. My husband is extremely picky n opinionated w physicians n health care providers n services in general. His dad was a known pediatrician; even after retirement he was sought after. He also comes from a long line of healthcare providers of various specialties...n Wer both providers as well. Dr Huang reminds him of his dad; calm demeanor and engages his patients in treatment plan n explanation. Hee even showed our son his swab under microscope! He loved that! I came to Dr. Luke Huang complaining of digestive problems, muscle and tendon pain, and fatigue. He ran a simple blood test. After which, he told me I was healthy and my symptoms were purely somatic, resulting from depression. He made several remarks that downplayed what I was experiencing. I got the overall impression he thought I was lying about my symptoms. I was not lying, nor was I seeking to be prescribed any type of pharmaceuticals. I am the type of person who only seeks medical help when absolutely necessary. The fact I was seeking help at all was mostly due to the fact my pain had reached levels so high it made it difficult for me to walk. I just wanted a diagnosis to set me on the track towards healing after 2 years of struggling with pain, fatigue, and digestive problems. And what did I get? Dismissal. On top of that, I was not able to pay my copay with my health savings card, so I ended up paying $60 out of pocket for services that were no help at all. read more

My family and I have been seeing both Dr. James Huang and Dr. Luke Huang for several years. I cant say enough great things about them. When my wife was 27 weeks pregnant she got extremely ill and ended up in ICU for a week. I called Dr. James to notify him being that he is our family physician and he made it a point to come to the hospital, check in with all the specialist that where handling my wife's case and kept coming to the hospital for regular check ups to see her progress. He made sure he was overseeing everything. Happy to say my wife recovered and gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Both Dr. James and Dr. Luke came to the hospital to check on my wife and son. We are always able to get an appointment and most often, same day appointments. Bothe Dr. James and Dr. Luke explain everything with great detail and make sure you understand what course of treatment they are recommending. Agatha and Angie are the RN's and Front Desk staff and they are amazing! We love the staff and their attention towards us. My Lord! I cannot believe what I've just experienced on the phone with the receptionist. She is RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND VERY DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND! I called in as a new patient (for my child) this morning as her doctor is retiring soon. Unfortunately, as I've been dreading regarding this matter of calling around to find a new pediatrician as wonderful as the one she has now, I've been highly disappointed. I have Blue Cross PPO and she still discouraged me to make an appointment. Who does this? I don't think the Dr. realizes how horrible she is or does he just ignore it? My family have been seeing this doctor for over 10 years. However that was a mistake. Doctor had me go through extra tests during a routine check up, part of which wasnt covered by insurance. There was nothing wrong with me and I suspect extra tests were ordered for wrong reasons. So now im being harassed with a fee that should not have occured. The receptionist yelled at me to take care of the fee because I should have checked with insurance first. What kind of doctor forces a patient into this type of situation during a regular check up ? Under my policy most preventative care is free and I've never had this happen before. I've been fighting the charge for over 3 months now and am now under pre collection. I have no choice but to pay now. If you are considering this doctor, be very careful because you might end up getting a letter of collection as well. This doctor lost a client of four people of more than 10 years, because he decided that burdening a patient with unnecessary charges was worth it. read more
