Bountiful variety, buffet pricing, long tables, service enough to keep everyone decently satisfied with extra napkins, drink refills, take away used plates and the other small needs of a table full of diners of all ages. March 29th, 2026 a herd of humans gathered to feast. A Sunday, the after church crowd was present in their finery. Other families were in for a Sunday supper. Our crowd gathered from Albuquerque, Northeast Arizona, Deer Valley, Central Phoenix and? Remembering our deceased. I sat next to a lovely woman in her 70's, and two seats away from a six year old. My modest beginnings of spiced beans, cornbread and select salad parts was ultimately supplemented and completed by wings, mashed potators and greens from my left, and a hot dog with one bite gone and a giant helping of mac and cheese. The six year old ran off with my frozen yogurt cone. Such is life. Our service was excellent, a young woman successfuly dealing with her crowded section of The Corral. Our last time here was pre-Covid. Prices are higher, crowds are crowder, the busy food steam and other trays emptird and filled from the busy kitchen. Will we return? I am sure we will.

But back to 2025. Dad and I are at Glendale to see the Glitters and wanted to visit the Haus like we have in prior years with mom. We got the Jaeger Schnitzel (our all time favorite of pork with a wonderful demi mushroom sauce), and wanted to try the Schweitzer Schnitzel as well, (like a Corden Bleu but with pork). So satisfying and delicious, it was the most satisfying as well. If you're in Glendale and want to come, book a reservation or be ready to wait a bit as a walk in because it's hopping!! Came here on a Sunday and they have Sunday special all day, 25% off all appetizers. I ended up ordering a dark beer because they were out of IPA. It was good but would've liked an IPA. I ordered the big Smokey beef bratwurst, it was really good. Probably the best I've tasted. It was juicy and had a great smokey flavor and wasn't salty. It came with German potato's and sauerkraut, best sauerkraut I've tasted. My BF ordered the traditional beef roulade, it comes with a side of red cabbage and spaetzle. He said he tasted better elsewhere for what it cost.

The majority of the employees (the servers, at least) are 25 and under. Plus, this place gives off Greek restaurant vibes, like the kind where you can get a gyro, spaghetti, or chow mein all in the same place: jack of all, master of none. You think it's all going to be tasteless food, but you would be oh so wrong. Mom and dad (80+, but with it) ordered liver and onions, I got an open faced turkey sandwich, and hubs got country fried sirloin. Everyone agreed that their food was delicious. I can't speak to the others, but for me, the turkey was moist, not dry, and the gravy (which they drenched over my turkey without asking, thank you very much) had really good seasoning to it...not overly peppery like at most places. The mashed potatoes were soft, not chunky, my side of corn was very buttery and NOT served in a bowl of corn water, and my cranberries were from a can (THE BEST KIND, and yes I WILL FIGHT YOU on this). We all ordered pie for dessert and I should have went with everyone else and gotten Key Lime, but I chose cherry. It wasn't the greatest of flavor as, even though there were real cherries in it, it was predominantly cherry flavored goo. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised, and I would come here again. But only with my parents, because I think hubs and I were the only people under 60, lol. 10/2026

We waited to be seated while our table was being bussed, and the butter pecan coffee aroma was so inviting ! I loved that they had yummy dog biscuits for sale at the entrance, with a photo of a pup named "Chewy" digging in. We ordered breakfast while enjoying our coffees and chatting at the table. I had the Country Breakfast with sunny side eggs, apple smoked bacon, biscuits in gravy. One had only a slice of pie as he already had his breakfast and it was gone before I got a photo...oops. Lastly there was a Cook's Breakfast with pancakes, bacon, eggs, and a beautiful basket of mini muffins that are so good... The lady serving our table was great, smiling, and paid attention to coffee mugs. The one thing that could have been a bit better was the pancakes: a little bit underdone in the middle, tasting of raw flour, but were fluffy and good otherwise. I don't come over this side of town often, but next time ... we'll be back :) PS They have frozen "take and bake" pies and fresh ones too, so make sure you order 24hrs in advance if you want a whole one. There is a daily pie on the menu: today was Turtle pie with extra crunchies.

I did mention online is what I ordered based off of and showed the price and mentioned some people may come in and not be able to afford the difference and planned ahead to eat here. I felt they should have honored the price online. But they didn't. As an ASU employee, I had the opportunity to join a number of students and staff for lunch today, and I thought I'd take an opportunity to update my review with additional information. Over the years, I have had plenty of opportunities to stop by this dining hall, and it just keeps getting better from the service to the food itself to the special events that take place in the dining hall. Anyone can eat at the Verde Dining Pavilion whether an ASU student, staff, or faculty member or even a community member. There is visitor parking next to the North Zone just north of University Way and south of Thunderbird Road). The cashier at the dining hall accepts cash, credit card, meal swipes, or Maroon & Gold dollars (M&G). More information about meal plans at M&G dollars can be found on the Sun Devil Hospitality (Aramark) website: https://sundevilhospitality.asu.edu. When entering the Verde Dining Pavilion, there is a salad bar immediately to the right when salad, fruit, pasta, and much more. Immediately to the left are desserts, drinks, soft-serve ice cream, cereal, and more. Straight ahead are multiple dining stations including a grill (with made-to-order items and several items of the day), deli sandwich station, pizza station, healthy options, and a home station. While the pizza and sandwiches are pretty standard, the other options rotate each day. I have found many dishes that I love, most involving chicken or beef. One of the hidden gems is to put some vanilla soft-serve ice cream in a cup of soda to make a float whether a root beer float, Dr. Pepper float, or any other option. Sun Devil Hospitality has themed days, special events, and this past Fall, we've had Fork 'em Friday Cookouts with special meals outside for a set meal price.
